Em This cold's rubbish isn't it? I'm hoping that I get to the turned-into-a-cold stage soon.

btw, sorry if the cat discussion sounds like debating or whatever. It's sometimes really hard give an alternative point of view on a forum without like a big contradicatpuss. It's intended as a friendly offering of information. Smile

I agree with Creme that you are doing a wonderful job and should go with your own judgement.

Ememem84 · 22/09/2016 15:46

It's good to hear all opinions really as I don't totally know what I'm doing re the cat!!! She's probably worked that out too - we're all learning together!

I just want the cold to either go away or come out as a proper cold. None of this stuck in my face-ness (yesterday I was a snot bucket. Today not so much just a pressure face!)

Eaten healthy today! Vitamins will make it go away!!!

lilacclery · 22/09/2016 16:32

I love this thread and you guys for the wisdom and range of opinions and experience on a wide variety of topics StarStar

Oh Collie, poor you and Collie DH. There is nothing worse than lack of sleep. No advice to offer but hope he gets better.
Girlie, blimey 4 is a lot of clubs for 10year old DD ( am I right, is she 10). I don't know how you manage and a full time job. I mean a lot for you not her. She probably loves it.
£4.50 spend today, bus fare and Costa.

needastrongone · 22/09/2016 16:54

And Genie definitely gets 'word of the day' prize!! I like the offering of opinion too, it's hard to get it to sound just that and nothing else sometimes.

Just listened on the radio to a story about a litter of kittens and mother thrown, one by one at a train. For actual fucks sake. And I don't apologise for the swearing either.

Em You are young thing aren't you? If I am wearing black tights over the winter with a number of skirts in winter colours, I need to wear black boots don't I? I'm hankering over grey, that's all...

Ememem84 · 22/09/2016 17:25

need no. Don't just stick to black. I regularly wear tan knee high boots and black tights. I have grey boots too...

And yes, I'm young. 32 next weekend

Fave outfit of mine is a stretch red/maroon skirt, black tights, snugly grey jumper tan knee high boots and grey sock tops (my sister crochets them - they just stick out the top of your boots and look like you're wearing huge long socks...)

Ememem84 · 22/09/2016 17:27

lilac I love how we're all so different and have so much experience and advice to share. Lovely friendly place.

It won't be an nsd after all. Poor car only has 22 miles of petrol to go. Should probably fill it up.

ItalianWiking84 · 22/09/2016 17:35

Em love that you write that your young because that makes me feel young too lol... Right now with big belly and back pain I dot feel young at all

lilacclery · 22/09/2016 17:56

I'm 33 & definitely still count myself as young but I'm not stylish like em

I forgot I need to pay membership tonight of a women's group it's €20 I could put it off two weeks but I want to see who else registersBlush I'm borrowing from my car tax fund which isn't due until end oct.

I put my last €10 of diesel out of personal money into this car, it becomes au pairs car on sat so will be paid by joint account from now on Smile

Also bought Ham & bread for dds lunch tomo.

Dbil bought a new van & saved €5900 by going to a diff garage I'm Envy and curious to what the cost of it was if that's the savings.

Dh and I have just had an argument so I'm sitting upstairs whilst everyone else is downstairs eating their dinner. Dh cooks dinner on a Thursday (only night of the week and it's usually either pre prepared by me or oven food). He did spag bol tonight and I said 'wow look at the size of those plates!' Because there's enough to feed us all for a week on them (I didn't say that though) and he started shouting saying he wouldn't bother cooking in the future if all I was going to do was moan about it. Argh. I'm just so fed up of meal planning and food shopping and cooking I swear it's all I ever think about/do.

AGenie · 22/09/2016 18:45

Em I have pressure-face too. It's rubbish isn't it? Have you tried a hot water bottle on your face? It helps me a bit and leaves lovely stripes on my nose.

Glad you all didn't mind my sticking me oar in re:cats. I'm working hard on my diplomatic skills, but it's a bit hit and miss. Smile

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 22/09/2016 18:55

Trying yes she is 10yo it is too much, its not like I have a partner who could take her to the clubs if I'm feeling a bit knackered! Ahh well, I will have done nearly 11 yrs of swimming lessons by the time she finishes at Christmas time so feel like I have done my bit Grin

Have had a hideous headache all day, went to bed for a couple of hours in the afternoon which is unheard of! Its a shame as been a beautiful day, ah well.

I think you are doing all the right things with the cat Em hopefully she will start relaxing soon Smile

Wreck see this is why I am single Wink at least when you are single and have to do everything yourself there isn't someone to be annoyed at for not helping (there is logic in there somewhere!)

WreckTangled · 22/09/2016 19:04

He used a whole pack of mince!! Ffs! I'm thinking it might be the best option girlie...

Ememem84 · 22/09/2016 19:14

genie it's awful. I feel like I'm squinting a bit and feel like I've just been crying (you know when your eyes feel small and cry after a good bawl)

Millie has eaten all her dinner. I left her to it today. I think a mix of everything as long as it's done carefully slowly and with kindness will win out. Dh has gone out. I've left a trail of dreamies in the hallway to try and coax her out.

CremeEggThief · 22/09/2016 19:56

Oh wow, is that a first for her, Em?

Oh dear, Wreck. How many meals were you hoping to get from that mince? I had to warn DS earlier not to put too much of the pasta bake I made into his dish, as (a) it's for tomorrow as well and (b) he very rarely leaves his dishes clean. I think most males have eyes bigger than their bellies!Smile

Need, sounds like a brilliant gift for DH. You've also got off to a great start with Christmas shopping.

Sainsburys delivery came tonight, so £49.85 will be coming out tomorrow. Here's my meal plan:
Tonight: pasta, borlotti bean and Med veg bake.
Tomorrow: same.
Saturday : pizza.
Sunday : veggie toad-in-the-hole with veg and gravy.
Monday: omelette and salad.
Tuesday: jackets with cheese and beans for me and cheese and pesto for DS.
Wednesday: veggie cottage pie (from the freezer).

WreckTangled · 22/09/2016 20:07

Just tonight and tomorrow. Toast for dinner tomorrow...

Tryingtosaveup · 22/09/2016 20:27

Wreck, so sorry, it's awful when that happens. I used to hate it when DH said he'd helped me. No thought that it was his responsibility as well as mine. Oh well he's very much exDH now. And I don't live with DP.
I'm beginning to believe that the cold virus can pass via this thread! Seems like it.

allthebestplease · 22/09/2016 20:28

need present ideas, what about some more 'manly' presents that's if it suits...golf day, power tools voucher, day out with lads, sky sports for one month, cooking course, iPad course.
Sorry they're not very frugal.

WreckTangled · 22/09/2016 20:48

Maybe trying I've been sneezing all afternoon!

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/09/2016 21:12

Hope you all feel better soon. Keep your fruflu to yourselves though.
Ah wreck that's rubbish. Ikwym about the constant thinking. Toast tomorrow will do no harm and therein is the lesson.
Need they are great ideas.
Em, I know nowt about cats but I think you are doing great.

Crappy day. £6 mctea. £47 sainsburys. Tried to get cake stuff but had dc with me as dh stuck at work. Dd changes her mind on her design as I'm stood there holding the stuff to buy. Thankfully the woman is lovely in our indi cake shop so was fine. Back on Saturday with a list. Don't need a new cake tin though. maybe 1
Got some stuff reserved at Argos too for party bags in the 342

isthatmorelego · 22/09/2016 21:22

Hi would you mind if I joined again please have dipped in in the past . We are 3 a adults as ds1 is 23 and ds2 10 we home Ed do need to pack picnics each week ft or two or three of us . Ds1home most of the week but out 2 nights plus his lovely girlfriend is here 1 night. Do tend to budget no choice really but just started reading this thread again have gone all the way back to start lots of new name changes .

Home Ed we are putting £20 a week for activities and fuel for them unfortunately the group around us is not good do we travel 20 miles to a much nicer group who have become friends . Plan on trying the envelope system I control the money /accounts here dh is useless with cash .

Today's spend £1 hospital parking
£4.70 in Costa for two coffees after hosp evening appointments are rubbish

Ememem84 · 22/09/2016 21:23

Cat update. I gave her a ping pong ball to play with (we have ones with bells in but I figured that maybe they'd be too noisy...) she showed no interest in it.

I've sat down to watch tv and have a small glass of wine and she's charging about chasing it. I am so happy. She's doing silly cat things. 😺😺 (small victories)

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/09/2016 21:31

Oh well done em

needastrongone · 22/09/2016 21:34

Love the sound of the roasted veg bake Creme. Is your DS a veggie by choice too? My teen DS would never ever leave anything on his plate, and would lick it if I let him.

All Thanks, love the cooking and Ipad ideas, DH has a MacBook, which is his enemy most of the time!

Great news re Millie Em, food as a bribe seems to work for dogs, cat and kids.... thanks also re the boot advice, I am still resisting so far...

I'm sure you are very stylish Lila Smile

It's hard Wreck sometimes, DH sometimes says 'I've cleaned up for you' or, 'I've made the bed for you' etc. I tell him I am going to stab him then he soon shuts up......

All set for Saturday life?

£5 Boxercise tonight, it was easy tonight so I am getting fitter, going to attempt 8 miles in the morning. Fucks sake, 8 miles was my normal daily run years ago....

needastrongone · 22/09/2016 21:34

Yes yes yes Em!!!! Brill...great news.
