Signing in, thanks for the new thread and thanks Genie for the previous threads Thanks

First day of 'term' today. Caglets went to the woods with DH, and this afternoon we've done some electronics and tried out the chemistry set too. :)

Colliefeatures · 06/09/2016 16:43

So we'll be moving house in hopefully mid November! Is there any frugal pay as you go internet dongle things that anyone specifically recommends?

I'll probably be without the internet before Christmas. Any my only worry is the lack of online Christmas shopping! Haha! If I don't plan ahead I will panic and get stressed nearer the time.

I definitely shouldn't rely on BT / PlusNet installation timescales! But hopefully it'll be OK.

northender · 06/09/2016 17:19

Thanks for the new thread lilac
Welcome to the newbies.
Collie have I missed something? Have you found a house where you wanted to be? If so I'm doing a little celebratory jig for you!

First day back at work went well & not too much was expected of me thank goodness. I'm not planned back into clinical work until next week so that gives me a bit of breathing space. It was lovely to see my colleagues again and the lemon drizzle cake & choc chip flapjack went down well.
Nsd for me. Dh will probably need to get diesel, he's taken dd to her second riding lesson. No other spending today.
Jacket potatoes for tea & then the new sewing machine is going to come out!

Colliefeatures · 06/09/2016 17:38

north well kinda! But I'm waiting until Friday before getting too excited (we'll know more by Friday!) I can't stop grinning though! Just have to keep hoping that things will go super smoothly as I can't cope with stress at all Blush

Glad your first day back went well. Smile

WreckTangled · 06/09/2016 17:46

First day back and I've got Ds' pre school bill. £160 for half a term and that's with his funding. I know it's not much for some people but we just don't have it Blush

Cagliostro · 06/09/2016 18:07

Everything crossed for you Collie! :)

Yikes Wreck childcare is hideously pricey isn't it :(

Doing the Tesco order and feeling rather uninspired. Sigh

WreckTangled · 06/09/2016 18:21

He only goes 8:30-3 three days a week.

Cagliostro · 06/09/2016 18:29

Shock Does he have to go? Do you need it for work etc.

northender · 06/09/2016 18:40

I'll keep my fingers crossed and my jig on hold then Collie!
Wreck childcare costs are such a burden.

WreckTangled · 06/09/2016 18:42

Yes I work the whole time he's there Sad

needastrongone · 06/09/2016 18:54

Glad the day back went well North. I thought that it might not be so bad as you might have imagined.

Collie how exciting, fingers and toes crossed.

Ahhh wrecked, can you speak to nursery? Are there any extra things you can apply for?

Sierra259 · 06/09/2016 18:56

Congratulations on the house collie, keeping everything crossed for you.
Glad your return to work went well north.
wreck childcare costs are just ridiculous aren't they Sad I'm dreading January when we have 2 in nursery!

NSD, woo! Am up to £7 in valued opinions surveys so really want to try to get up to a voucher this week. Jacket potatoes for tea here too Smile

WreckTangled · 06/09/2016 18:59

I can inform tax credits of the increase but I don't think it'll make much difference. It's so frustrating everything is getting more and more expensive yet our wages aren't going up! Will have three more bills of the same and then he starts school. Just have to remember it's not forever Smile

Mummyshortlegz · 06/09/2016 19:00

Wrecked mine was £138, I budget £60 a month year round for it. Our preschool will let you pay weekly if you have a word. I guess it's lunch cover and some extra hours? We take childcare vouchers and yours could to. It's really easy for the preschool to set up and then you'll save 20%ish on the cost.

Ememem84 · 06/09/2016 19:06

Thanks lilac for the new thread.

£52 in the coop. I stuck mostly to the list. Had estimated I'd spent £48. So not much over. Only off liste things were Portuguese chorizo style sausage and smoked salmon trimmings.

God I love smoked salmon. I'd eat it all the time if I could.

Have just made tagliatelle with lemony garlicky cream cheese sauce and thrown in the salmon and some rocket. And buckets of black pepper. Le super yum!!! Even Dh ate it. And he's funny with fish at the best of times.

A nice dinner was necessary after my day battling with a really stupid client. has t quite grasped the concept of " if you put your money in a trust it's no longer yours"

Laska5772 · 06/09/2016 19:07

Wotcha all... Yes its me again! . i can never keep up posting on these threads any more ..but thought I'd pop my head round the corner! Have still noticed that lots of the old frugal friends posting .which is great .. I hope you are all fine and doing well.. .

All fine here family fine, money fine, and the Campervan fund is growing well.. and I am still employed ( though its still cuts cuts where I am , so who knows) ..

It s been nearly 2 years now since I first joined Frugaleers and got rid of my debt. Am still using good old YNAB..

My DH stil hasnt taken early retirement! At this rate ill be retiring at the same time as he does!

WreckTangled · 06/09/2016 19:13

Hi laska! How is DGD?

Mummy I don't earn enough to pay tax so no childcare vouchers Blush paying weekly won't help really. I guess it'll just be even more of a tight month.

It doesn't help that I have my friends hen do next month and I'm MOH so I can't scrimp. It's just never ending but it's all my own fault I must stop spending money I don't have! Also need to try and get the food shopping down again as struggling to get it under £80.

Mummyshortlegz · 06/09/2016 19:18

I guess the option is looking for a nursery attached to a school and just do the 15 hours so mornings or afternoons but then you can't work as easily. My Dh was surprised we still got a bill now ds1 has funding.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 06/09/2016 19:23

Hi all, thanks for the fab new thread Lila

Collie thats brilliant, have everything crossed for you as well!

Hello laska nice to 'see' you Smile

Managed a NSD - woo hoo! Have actually made myself £45 by selling my old bookcase, it went pretty quick which makes me think I under priced it! Ahh well its gone so thats good and bit of extra cash, I am sort of swapping it for a dresser so the money will go towards that.

Remembered today that dd will be going back to swimming lessons from tomorrow and that will be £60 ish that I haven't got! Oh well, will have to go back over my figures, am annoyed with myself really as have frittered money this month so far Blush

Dd seems to be settling into her new school and the new childminder with no problems so far, fingers crossed it continues!

WreckTangled · 06/09/2016 19:25

Ds is at a pre school attached to the school. I wouldn't be able to work at all if he only did mornings etc unfortunately. Oh well we will suck it up and I'll try eBay some things!

TwllBach · 06/09/2016 19:26

DS was definitely worth it and we are living with his dad at the moment, my DP. I'm still paying rent on a house that I can't get out of till November (long story) so once that contract has ended I'll be saving £275 a month, but I go back to work in January and will be spending £200 at least on petrol to commute so... But at least I will be earning properly again, but then childcare on top of that

Today I spent £40 in aldi on food for the week - six dinners and I'm going to try not to spend much more this week... £9 tomorrow on a music class and swimming for DS and that's it!

SnugglySnerd · 06/09/2016 19:38

Just lost my post. Anyway gist of it was a lot of moaning about work and vet's bills so I'll spare you all that.

Thanks for the new thread, Lilac and welcome to newcomers.
Will post properly tomorrow, am exhausted and fed up!

Colliefeatures · 06/09/2016 19:47

laska I was thinking about you the other day! Good to see you back. And happy to hear about your job (for now!)

wreck it's so hard isn'tit :( luckily DH gets childcare vouchers and it saves us roughly £70 a month. But it's done via salary sacrifice. We can't wait until he gets his free 15 hours. Finding work to suit the 15 free hours is so tricky. Part time jobs are so rare here. I feel your pain!

8FencingWire · 06/09/2016 19:51

LSD here, £4.12 in Lidl on some cheese and drinks.
I also put my name down for some more overtime, to counter effect the gap that Ikea trip left in my budget!
But, the artwork I amassed over the years is now up on the walls and it makes us smile every time we go past :)
I have a very good friend who is an artist and I just love her paintings, I might bribe her for something for the living room!!!
Eggy bread tonight :)

Laska5772 · 06/09/2016 19:57

DGD2 is great Wreck so far she's doing al the things you'd expect of a 6 month old .. Its like all that terrible trauma never happened!.... (Babies are so amazing..).. Now the other two,.. ( DGS 3.5 yrs and DGD1 - 2 now) They are also great , but into everything!!
