Has anyone given in and flicked the heating on yet? Getting chilly here, but trying to hold out!

Not yet. Our living room is at 20 degrees, and the bedrooms are a bit colder, but that doesn't matter as much. Our thermostat is playing silly buggers too. It's an easy fix, but I'm putting it off as it removes temptation. I'm embracing the jumpers.

Nope. Slippers, jumper and a blanket on at the moment. I always feel the cold so the heating won't go on until DP or DS finally complains of the cold.

Nope still got summer duvet, window open and fan on at night!
We do live in the warmest apartment in the world to be fair...

Yes, I'm sick and the baby is sick. Hoping he'll sleep more if its warmer. Just for myself I'd put another jumper on or go back to bed.

Ours is off, had it on for an hour last week as I needed to dry something and it wasn't suitable for tumble drying.

Jumpers, socks and blankets here. We will light the fire if it gets down to single figures but it's frighteningly expensive to use the boiler so we're avoiding at all costs.

I tried the other freezing cold evening and discovered the boiler wont work!

Yes - gave in half an hour ago (I have Reynaud's Syndrome though).

Ours is off. I was tempted last night because I had a cold but it was still 18 so I didn't. I will put it on soon to make sure that the boiler is working though, it'll go off again afterwards.

Nope. Just jumpers and socks at the moment. It has to be much colder than this for the heating to go on, so until I need a dressing gown over a jumper, it's not cold enough!

No.

We had one of the wood burners on the other week but it's not cold yet.
It's pissing down though!

No and my house is cold even in summer! Determined not to put heating on yet.

Yes I've caved, but I'm going down with something and feel pretty rough.

The cat will have his hot water bottle tonight too.

I havent 'switched it on' myself but I did wake up to a lovely warm house a few days ago where the thermostat had kicked in because it had dropped below my settings. Since then I have managed to keep it off.

I do feel like I have failed though, every year I insist im not going to put the heating on until after last years date which was 22nd October. Next year I will be prepared Smile

On. And have just lit the fire too
But it is cold, wet and grotty ...and so am I, this evening.

About half an hour per day to take the edge off ATM. It's either freezing or boiling in my house. Wink

No hearing on but have lit the fire. Living room toasty but its cold and wet and windy outside. Two airers full of clothes set up to dry in here.

Not yet, am trying to hold on until after I've relined the curtains.

That said, it was 15.8c in the bedroom earlier, so I may cave sooner.

No way, bedroom window still open at night, I'm in short sleeves and boiling hot. My heating goes on in October, we're in the South though.

Fire lit in the sitting room, but that's partly for atmosphere. Will try and keep the CH off for another few weeks, but I'll be fighting against my husband...

Have given in & set timer for early morning, after complaints from family ! Also need washing to dry.

I'm saving up for one of those Lakeland airers!

Report
CremeEggThief · 16/09/2013 18:05

Put it on to check it works for half an hour yesterday, but am aiming to get through to mid-October without it.

Report
NumptyNu · 16/09/2013 19:03

The Lakeland heated airers are brilliant. Definitely get one if you can. It's a great investment in lower leccy bills if you have to otherwise resort to using a dryer or radiators to get stuff dry.
