I want to raise an extra £50 a month until the end of the year. Anyone want to join me?

My thoughts have turned to Christmas (sad I know). I'd like to pay for it without worry this year so want to raise and put away an extra £50 a month for the rest of the year. That will be £250 altogether.

I'm starting with surveys. Initially going to do Valued Opinions, One Poll and Toluna. With Toluna and Valued Opinions the payout is in Amazon vouchers when you get to £15. One Poll pays out at £40. Hoping to get 4 £15 amazon vouchers and one £40 payout by the end of the year which will give me the first £100.

Also planning to sell things on ebay mainly a huge heap of DD's clothes - quite a lot of mini boden and some good coats. No idea how much I'll raise but hopefully it will help.

Will also put DDs second hand school uniform in uniform sale. Won't make a huge amount but will help.

Will think about other ways to make money.

Would anyone like to join me? There are similar things of Money Saving Expert forums but the threads move so fast and are full of very dedicated people I don't feel I can rival Grin

If any of you have an android phone the Nielsen app monitors your use and pays out about £50 a year in amazon vouchers. It doesn't use a lot of data either. You can have other prizes etc but I figured amazons always useful.

Check out topcashbacks free cashback, it's surveys etc. I got £18 for a months free trial of lovefilm, £3.20 net profit for a months trial of which?. It all adds up.

ConfusedPixie · 09/08/2013 17:51

I'm up for that, I am on swagbucks at the moment but thats all. Looking at writing artcles on Helium and Clickworker and doing dooyoo reviewing too.

I find the MSE threads too fast for me too!

I plan to babysit for extra cash when possible. On quidco and TCB but don't shop online much. I have Qmee which gives you pennies for searching, made about 50p in a monmth but it's still cash for nothing (I don't search often, DP has made a bit more than that in three weeks).

I'll be opening a shop on Etsy this Autumn selling unique knitted items which I'm hoping to get a few quid for every month and I have a few people who have offered to advertise for me so that's handy!

Will also be selling antiques but need to learn as I go so not really expecting to make much from that at the moment.

Apparently you can make a good deal of money writing articles if you have a speciality. A friend of mine recommended Helium as she makes £35+ per article as she specialises in scientific articles. She was studying for a degree in a science-based subject when she started and just picks up articles when she has a spare few hours.

just found this on mse www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/make-money-online#neilsen

i am going to have a go at some of these. will boost my mat pay!

thefuturesnotourstosee · 10/08/2013 17:14

I've just applied for a halifax rewards account. Not only are they offering £5 a month if you pay in £750 a month and pay out 2 direct debits but on top of that they are offering £100 just to switch to them.

If all that comes through I'll have made a good chunk of my £250 without much trouble :)

OP posts:
thefuturesnotourstosee · 10/08/2013 17:16

On top of that I now have

250 nectar points for watching adverts plus another 100 for downloading their tool bar

£1 valued opinions

£2.50 on one poll

I'm rich Grin

OP posts:
busterboy · 10/08/2013 17:39

sounds like you are off to a good start. glad you didnt get put off!

ConfusedPixie · 11/08/2013 10:51

Well done OP! I only have one DD, might look into switching still though as I get just over £1000 paid in, but it gets transferred to my joint account as soon as it goes in really, would that affect the £1000 in thing?

I don't think I've made anything the past few days, been busy IRL, which is rare!

ConfusedPixie · 11/08/2013 11:05

How long have you spent doing the surveys thefuture? I am put off by the time it takes but come September I will have more time to do them.

thefuturesnotourstosee · 11/08/2013 12:04

confused - re bank account I think you have to have 2 direct debits a month going through as well so may affect things.

the one poll surveys are really quick. A 20p one is 2-3 minutes usually and a 10p one a lot quicker than that. Valued opinion surveys vary from 5 minutes to about 20 although I think there are half hour ones but they are better paid. Just did another valued opions - 5 minutes for 50p :)

brightermornings · 11/08/2013 12:11

Do you ever do any of the surveys on here? Last year I won £100 m & s and £100 amazon voucher just from giving my opinion on something.
This year I've done a product trial and I received a £20 amazon voucher.

ConfusedPixie · 11/08/2013 12:33

Yeah, with only on 1 I don't think I'd get the bonus, it'd have been nice though!

I may have to join up to those two then, do you have a referral code I can use? May as well use one if it gives you a bonus!

I've made a few swagbucks today and some pennies through Qmee, that's about it though!

ConfusedPixie · 11/08/2013 17:32

I had a huge list of surveys on onepoll to do and now have none, is there a daily limit? Confused

thefuturesnotourstosee · 11/08/2013 20:23

There is no daily limit on one poll but the surveys tend not to hang about and usually (though annoyingly not always) disappear as soon as enough people have filled them out.

If you would kindly pm me your email address I'll send you a invite to valued opinions. In theory I'd get a £1 after you've done your second survey but never tried it so not sure it works!! If you'd rather join directly that's fine too.

brighter Ive not thoght of doing mumsnet surveys will investigate.

Jjust applied for a Halifax account I have really bad credit though and have struggled to change banks in past

thefuturesnotourstosee · 11/08/2013 21:00

num I'm not banking on them accepting me. I don't know what my credit rating is like (never checked) but I have no credit cards, loans etc. and someone told me that it could be really bad because of that. Still if it is it is we'll see

OP posts:
num3onway · 11/08/2013 21:03

I hope they do accept me I love free cash lol

ConfusedPixie · 11/08/2013 21:35

Sorry, I realised that I actually have an account for valuedopinions and one poll from when I signed up to a bunch of survey sites last year!

Yeah, I had about ten waiting for me and they disappeared, I thought that they were all qualifying ones.

I have made 500+ Swagbucks today (signed DP up to a trial at audible so that I could get the next book in the Dresden Files series!) £2.50 on onepoll for signing up and 19p on Qmee. Not too shabby!

thefuturesnotourstosee · 13/08/2013 18:08

New summary from 8th August onwards

Had a text from halifax to say they're working on my switch so hopefully that £100 will come through but not counting it yet.

£4.65 on one poll

£4 on valued opinions

80p on crowdology (another survey site)

£3 worth of nectar points (600 points) have been credited to my account so far with a few more to come. Haven't even got nectar card yet its coming post

Some toluna ponints but don't really under what they're worth so not counting them until (if) I get a voucher.

£12.45 credited so far. Hardly a fortune but certainly a start.

£237.55 to go. Its Christmas eve in 134 days. sad aren't I?

OP posts:
ConfusedPixie · 13/08/2013 22:58

Well done :)

I have:
1308 Swagbucks
£2.95 on Onepoll
£0.19 on Qmee
£0.50 Valued Opinions

I have reactivated my GiftHulk Acocunt, joining Toluna, joined pinecone and have been accepted. I'm also on Helium and DoYoo so need to write reviews/articles for both. Going to concentrate on my homework and get my course finished before doing that though!

thefuturesnotourstosee · 14/08/2013 09:10

how did you manage to join pinecone? Been trying for ages but never seem to get accepted

OP posts:
ConfusedPixie · 14/08/2013 10:16

I've PMed you :)

Made some cash this morning, the nectar adpoints thing is quite lucrative! I have it up alongside my browser so I can MN and watch ads at the same time. Takes some concentration to do both because of the clicking to see if you are still watching business but it's working. And they have some adorable videos of baby zoo animals...

thefuturesnotourstosee · 15/08/2013 10:46

For some reason just had a letter from halifax saying they've cancelled my application but no explanation as to why :( Bang goes that plan.

I love the baby animal videos too confusedpixie and so does dd. I've got some points waiting to be credited to my nectar account not shown below(about 180)

So here is my summary

£5.70 on onepoll
still £4 on valued opinons
£2.56 on crowdolgy
£3.62 on my nectar account

Total £15.88 so £234.12 to go. Every bit helps Grin

.About to go away for a couple of weeks as well so probably won't manage much especially if my nectar card does not turn up before we go

OP posts:
thefuturesnotourstosee · 15/08/2013 18:45

Added a bit during the day

one poll £6.35
valued opinions £6
nectar £3.62
crowdlology £2.56

Total £18.53. £231.47 to go.

Sadly seem to have run out of adpoint videos to watch hopefully there will be more soon. I want to get my 250 points.

OP posts:
thefuturesnotourstosee · 16/08/2013 22:58

I didn't think I was doing very well but just had a nice surprise. I remembered I used to do My surveys so thought I'd go back and have a look and realised I actually had enough points for a £10 Amazon voucher. I'd totally forgotten about its existence but saw it mentioned on MSE so thought I'd have another look.

So totals so far:

One poll £7.30
valued opinions £6
nectar £3.62
crowdology £2.56
My Surveys £10

Total £29.48. £220.52 to go

Apologies for the very boring nature of this thread by the way.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/08/2013 08:08

Have you got the Nielsen android app on your phone?

I got refused for a post office current account once, my credit scores 997 out of 1000 so no idea why they didn't want me.
