Who's a good TV manufacturer? We've got a Toshiba and it's dreadful. Won't interface with external speaker system when playing dvds so we can't hear anything as the TV's volume is so low (even when we turn it up as high as it'll go).

Want to be able to plug in surround sound type thing. Want to be able to plug in set top box, dvd player recorder and video player. About 22-24 inch. Any ideas what to go for?

Byeckerslike · 23/11/2011 11:18

We have a sharp Jux, the software is shite, it takes ages for the tv to respond to the remote (or the buttons on the side of the tv) its very slow and unresponsive and the tv guide is useless (we dont have sky) it takes ages to load, otherwise the pic is great and its excellent quality, looks great, but the software badly lets it down, we have only had it about 6 months too :(

SarahStratton · 23/11/2011 11:19

I like Panasonic and Sony, but the one that's up is Samsung and supposed to be very good. Amazon have brill CS so I'm not too concerned.

DD is back at school today. She's forgotten her phone too so I can't even text her to ask. She was upset after seeing her Consultant yesterday, so mucking about on here with her was v helpful and distracting.

SarahStratton · 23/11/2011 11:20

Oh and I have an LG that I use as a screen for the desktop, that's pretty good.

Jux · 23/11/2011 11:31

Thanks Sarah. I'll have a look at that Samsung. OMG! It's massive!

RustyBear · 23/11/2011 11:32

Clicked on the Blackberry the instant it opened - I am 166th on the waitlist! Don't think I'll bother though as it's only 25% off

Kveta · 23/11/2011 11:33

we have an LG, and it's fab. my parents have a Sony, which I am not so impressed with, and my brother also has an LG which is fab.

MrsChemist · 23/11/2011 11:36

We've got an LG as well. It's great.

AtYourCervix · 23/11/2011 11:36

ours is LG. chavtastically huge and DH thinks its good but personally i just can't get excited over it.

Sarah - wristy is still achy - don't know what to do, whether i should go back to docs on friday or ignore it. hows fingy? have you chased the doc yet?

Ponders · 23/11/2011 11:42

we have Panasonic which is extremely good.

iirc Which's pecking order for TVs goes something like

Panasonic
Sony
LG
Samsung

(I'll see if I can find it)

Byeckerslike · 23/11/2011 11:42

Oh dear! Glad it helped though, i find it quiite a distraction myself! :o

MorningCoffee · 23/11/2011 11:56

Well here we go again, bit of a late start today as been into town, not such great stuff again today but some looks ok, the tv looks good but we have one! some disney things but not what i thought, do you think they will add more, i should not be here this is very addictive. Grin

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 23/11/2011 11:59

Damn it I just bought a Lola Rose bracelet. Somebody stop me

Ponders · 23/11/2011 12:08

I just ordered the Ukala Ugg-type boots - actual suede & wool for £29 & nice sturdy looking soles

Makingchanges · 23/11/2011 12:08

DH is convinced we need a new telly. Told me to try for the one at 12pm. I told him that we'd have no chance. I clicked the second it came up... I am in position over 500 in the wait list Shock

Byeckerslike · 23/11/2011 12:12

Chickens.... Im so weak tempted Grin

Ponders · 23/11/2011 12:15

makingchanges, have a look at \link{http://www.froogle.richersounds.com/product/plasma-tv/lg/50pt353/lg-50pt353\this one}

SoupDragon · 23/11/2011 12:16

I was over 500 on the wait list for the GHDs and got offered them (didn't bother). Keep the amazon page ope or you'll miss the pop up notice that you can claim it.

MorningCoffee · 23/11/2011 12:17

Dp convinced me we need a tv, we don't, i clicked and am in position 1 on the wait list nothing so far! don't want it anyway i am trying to get my sensible head back on we have a tv we don't need another!

Ponders · 23/11/2011 12:21

or amazon has \link{http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005MNC4B8?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE\this Panasonic} starting at 5.30 I think

it's only 32" & is LCD, not plasma - will be much cheaper...

it's the updated version of ours I think & ours is amazing - you can actually still watch it when you are almost completely sideways on to it

Tortoise · 23/11/2011 12:21

Good link ponders. I will be seeing what i can find on there for when i have some pennies!
I've been told to avoid plama tvs though and just stick to HD tv. Anyone have any wisdom on this?

OP posts:
Ponders · 23/11/2011 12:24

plasma uses a lot more electricity but has a better picture I think, Tortoise

LED is the latest technology but is a lot more expensive

we're happy with LCD though Smile

AKMD · 23/11/2011 12:26

You lot are nutters, buying all this stuff and then thinking, 'what did I get that for?!'

Anyone have any idea what I'm supposed to do with a spare SmartTrike that's somewhere in the post on its way to me? :o

tootssweet · 23/11/2011 12:26

Finally got something after days of lurking! DP will be getting the Lorraine Pascal's books for Christmas (he has a bit of a crush on her too! - well I think he does. He just mumbles that she is a lot more pleasant to watch than Gordon Ramsey but then who isn't??)

fruitshootsandheaves · 23/11/2011 12:27

I'd like a laminator. Don't know what I'd use it for though. I just like the thought of laminating stuff.
I could make labels for everything and laminate all the DC's homework! Grin
