Just tested positive this morning. Anyone else? I guess that's Christmas at home now....

Merry Christmas to the covid crew! Hope you're all as ok as can be or at least comfy and warm.

Slept better last night so was happy to bounce out of bed with the kids at 6am and do presents, breakfast etc (despite everyone telling me to go back to bed!). But have taken a turn for the worse and now on bed but propped up as can't breathe otherwise. The congestion is something else - feels like my nostrils are filled with cement and it's making me panicky. Feeling very sorry for myself!

Just watched a neighbour out the window going for a run, normally that's my Christmas Day thing to do. Feel so lazy and flat.

Could be a lot worse I know but argh fck you Covid!

izzy2076 · 25/12/2023 10:11

Same big hoops! I thought I was better after a good sleep then crawled back to bed wiped out. New symptom of the day is very dodgy stomach.

BigHoops · 25/12/2023 13:13

Me too with the stomach. Can still taste and have an appetite but my stomach is sending some alarming signals which means I'm going to have to be restrained 😭

SuziLikeSuziQ · 25/12/2023 19:58

I was sick on Saturday but felt so much better afterwards!

Hope everyone has had an okay Christmas Day. I feel much happier today than I did yesterday and even managed to cook and eat a Christmas dinner (nothing very fancy, though).

Lelophants · 25/12/2023 20:04

I hope everyone’s ok. We still feel rough but not too bad, but at that stage where you can’t enjoy anything but feel sad you’re missing out. Although lucky we’re not worse.
First time having covid in ages. Been about three days since positive test (tested the day before as well as DH was positive). I’ve also been fully vaccinated. How long do you think it will last for?

WombatChocolate · 26/12/2023 09:37

I tested positive on 23rd. Had felt a bit sneezy and tired for few days before. Tested as hoped to spend Christmas with sick mother. Very sad not to be with her but v glad I tested. Now on 26th am clear, so suspect had it for a few days before testing. Had actually avoided people for 5 days before to try to keep my mum safe, so hopefully didn’t spread it….except maybe to DH and 2 DC who will also test today to see if we are all clear and can go to some other relatives tomorrow. It would be lovely but I suspect one of the other 3 will have it by now, although I’ve had 3 nights in bed on my own and had my own isolation sofa!

I don't mean to be argumentative, that's not my intention.

All 4 of us have been ill this week and at the drs. I did ask if it could be Covid, we haven't got any tests at home.

The dr said they are no longer testing for Covid as it's not a thing anymore. They are just classing it as a cold now.

I'd be changing surgery!!

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 26/12/2023 14:02

I've just tested positive, felt terrible all day Ystd, shivery, temp, sore throat, cough, horrible headache.

Christmas has been a write off.

So fed up.

Most people probably do t have tests at home now as a matter of course. Many who planned to see elderly or sick relatives over Christmas will have got some in so they could test before seeing them. Others still who felt ill in week before Christmas will have gone and got some. There are plenty to be had still.

Perhaps you said to your GP that you had no intention of seeing elderly or sick relatives over Christmas? If this was the case, then I’d agree there’d be no need to test really. But of course, lots of people do see these relatives over Christmas and many people who are, still like to think that if only in the weeek before Christmas, they’d like to keep clear of Covid, so their Christmas plans aren’t spoiled.

1 friend avoided coming out with a group of us on the weekend of 18th as she didn’t feel great…wasn’t terrible but not great. She said she didn’t want the chance if any of us getting Covid in the week before Christmas knowing most of us have elderly or sick relatives. We were grateful when the following day she said she had tested positive. As it was, I tested positive on 23rd anyway, despite having stayed at home since 19th - you can’t fully protect yourself. But if you’re ill in the week before Christmas, if not at any other time, goi g out and getting some Covid tests seems the right thing to do.

Custardpudding · 26/12/2023 18:58

I’m clear today , from 6 days ago. I’ve not been offered a booster since? God knows! It’s ruined my Christmas and we saw no one. I wasn’t taking a chance and passing to vulnerable elderly parents. It’s the first time I’ve had it and I’ve been really poorly. Even though negative today my sinuses hurt. I’m deaf, still coughing and croaky. And so tired. Imagine if I’d passed it to someone vulnerable, they could be so poorly

BigHoops · 27/12/2023 21:27

Hello all. Still feeling rough after testing positive on the 24th (although no idea how long I'd had it, had felt rough a few days before and the test line came up immediately so my viral load must have been high). Still congested, not coughing but still feeling sick whenever I eat anything (yet I still get hungry annoyingly). Strange sense of smell. And feel wiped out. I'm really hoping I start to feel better soon, especially as DH is showing symptoms even if testing negative - someone has to be ok to deal with the DC!

Lelophants · 27/12/2023 21:49

@Seriously79 just because our NHS don’t test for it anymore doesn’t mean it’s not still an issue for some people. We only tested because we were seeing very vulnerable family members who asked us to. So glad we did as I’m pretty sure our symptoms alone would have finished them off. 😢

Daffyyellow · 27/12/2023 22:02

Symptoms since 24th, tested positive yesterday. Heavy cold, sore throat and cough - much the same as I’ve been since mid November but more snotty this time. Covid has run rife at school but I was negative all through. Week home and then I get to, thank heavens Dad didn’t come for Christmas. Surprisingly DD2 testing negative but with very similar symptoms. My last booster (my 5th jab) was less than 2 months ago, hoping that means it’ll be a milder dose.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/12/2023 12:57

@SallyWD absolutely. We are due to go to Stockholm with 84 year old FIL tommorrow. My H tested positive on Saturday- now negative but if he was positive he wasn't going- I was going to take FIL.

You know when Johnson said about British having common sense- ? Vast amounts have none- and nor do they give a shiny shit about others- only themselves

Custardpudding · 29/12/2023 08:41

I’m day 12 today and woke up even more full of cold, coughing and snuffly with a sinus headache. Still bizarrely hoarse even though not coughing that much. I know I was snoring though 😂 . Feel worse today than yesterday, head really hurts.

clarepetal · 29/12/2023 09:03

I'm negative now, although my partner is still positive. His line is fading though. Still feel a bit wobbly with it, and my son has now tested positive.
Sick of it all to be honest.

anothernamechangeagainsndagain · 29/12/2023 09:05

This is why we don't have tests, we go by the "am I ill" test

anothernamechangeagainsndagain · 29/12/2023 09:08

Other viruses are available remember! Don't spread germs about if you can help it

Custardpudding · 29/12/2023 09:29

i didn’t say I was spreading anything? I’m not going out. But I’ve been negative for days and still poorly. And as said numerous times on here, I and other people test because we have vulnerable parents. Just finished cancer treatment. So feeling fine doesn’t help if I had it and passed it on! It’s called being responsible.

Headfart · 29/12/2023 18:32

I tested neg on day six but now I’m exhausted , it’s like nine days on now and I feel occasional dizziness and neuralgic . Fed up

That’s so rubbish. I hate the lingering.

YouSayChorizoIsayChorizo · 02/01/2024 15:21

It's 10 days since I tested positive (though I was at my worst 13 days ago, and had had mild sniffles for a week before that, so I've no idea when I actually contracted covid).

Still can't taste/smell and don't want alcohol or coffee. Have been trying smell training but no change as far as I can tell. Christmas was pretty low key but we had a lovely few days with (vaccinated) DD. I still feel off colour and occasionally nauseous, but am eating ok as long as it's fairly bland. Energy levels ok tho I'm not in any hurry to resume vigorous exercise! Nice walk in the rain today.

Mattietoes · 04/01/2024 13:25

I tested positive on 2nd, think I've had it since about 29th. Mild cold symptoms, slight headache, nothing major. Most troubling symptom I'm having is massively reduced sense of smell since 30th. It's dragging on and on with no sign of getting any better, making me so anxious and depressed. Trying to stay positive but obviously have also convinced myself I'll never smell again haha. This is my third time with covid and symptom-wise similar to the first, though that time I only lost smell for about three days. Hating this!!!

Anabella321 · 04/01/2024 13:30

We had it over Christmas too. My DH got sick a few days before Christmas day and isolated himself. Unfortunately my baby caught it from him and we spent Christmas day in hospital.

I caught it a few days later but wasn't as ill as DH and DC presumably because I got a booster a couple of months ago.

YouSayChorizoIsayChorizo · 08/01/2024 16:28

Oh gosh that's awful @Anabella321. Hope you're all on the mend, particularly baba.
