Hello I was just wondering if anyone has recently had it and how they felt. I know the normal thing is to get a test but how accurate are they now. I've got a cough and sore throat and just feel tired and achey. Felt very anxious last week and tearful. Colds and the like do affect me like that as I have anxiety anyway so if I'm run down I feel worse. I went to give blood earlier in the week and they turned me away anyway as my iron was 1mg too low but I'm just wondering really

@SallyWD I had bad sore eyes from last October(2022) right through till a few weeks ago - I had lots of other long covid things too that gradually went away but the sore eyes really persisted- it was like I had shampoo in them - like you I must have been through the whole range of eye drops!

currently riding it out, third time I've had covid. Felt like a regular bad cold that just got worse, but lots of weird and wonderful symptoms.

  • sensitive skin
  • burping lots (!???)
  • cough, which seems to have gone on my chest a few days in (painful)
  • exhaustion
  • foggy headed (forgetful)
  • snotty bunged up nose
  • general bad cold symptoms
  • tearful and emotional

I am hoping it passes in a few days like it has previously but am taking it very slow.

Symptoms are different for all of us. Last time I had a minor headache for three days, then a sore throat and then a week of feeling really run down and tired.

Babybop67 · 11/12/2023 11:59

sounds terrible. how are you now?

I tested positive yesterday for the first time after feeling really run down for a few days and these have been my symptoms so far:

Headache painkillers won’t touch
Joint pains
Brain fog & confusion
Laryngitis
Throat feels like someone shoved a firework down it
Alternating hot and cold sweats
Exhaustion
Bunged up red raw nose but constantly running and sneezing
Horrible cough with is starting to hurt my chest & ribs
Disturbed sleep with weird vivid dreams
Nausea
Lack of appetite
Constantly on the verge of tears
Passing a lot of wind (I have IBS so I’m guessing that’s not too happy!)

Luckily I’m WFH so I’m working in my PJs feeling sorry for myself.

This is the second time I've had covid. I tested an instant strong positive on what I reckon was probably day 3 of infection. Currently day 5.
My symptoms this time are very much the same as the first time in summer 2022 which I think was the original Omicron. In order they have been -
Scratchy throat
Headache
Severe joint aches
Temperature
No appetite
Streaming nose like a tap
Sneezing
Coughing
Severe fatigue
Jelly legs

I've just had my third day in bed. If it follows the same pattern I've got the worst nightmares I've ever had and a couple of weeks of brain fog and fatigue to look forward to.

I’ve tested positive. I had a cold about 3 weeks ago and on Friday the symptoms started to return.

The one new symptom was muscle pain and bad back which I had with covid. I tested on Monday negative, tested again last night and turned red immediately- I feel rubbish, especially on the back end of a horrrible cold.

The worse is the muscle/joint pain!

BlimeyO · 13/12/2023 14:14

I have covid - tested positive on Monday morning. The positive line on the test was very strong and came up v quickly.
My symptoms are:

  • Anxious and tearful on Sat/Sun
  • Tired and slightly rundown on Sun
  • On Monday, I had very painful back and shoulder muscles, then a fever developed in the evening. Really tired. Extravagant sneezing!
  • Tues - feeling wiped out, coughing a lot, blocked nose and sinuses. Sense of smell almost completely gone.
  • Weds, pretty much the same, but coughing more.
Hoping to be better by the weekend 😩

colouringindoors · 15/12/2023 11:07

I find flowflex the most reliable.

Thank you!

TeaWithASplashOfMilk · 15/12/2023 17:33

Day 1 for me. Headache, sinus pain, toothache, sore throat, tiredness. Very achey and shivery now. Feeling need to lie down and hoping beyond hope it doesn't fuck my long covid up even more.

I hate current covid policy of maximising the amount of spread - especially on those that are reliant on others to reduce their risk. Would much rather taxes went towards supporting isolation when positive and addressing indoor air than the fallout from so much covid.

healthadvice123 · 17/12/2023 21:59

dh currently has covid tested positive friday as devloped a bit of a cold and instant positive, he did feel tired weds/thurs but been busy at work. Now just feels like mild cold. DS2 just positive today tested yesterday with no symotoms as was going out but as DH was positive and negative , tonight developed a temp and instant positive. I had covid couple months ago but expecting will get ot again so far negative though and no symptoms other than tiredness. We now think ds 1 had it as he felt a bit ill ftom last sat eve, assumed he had a hangover and then just a cold and he never tested but stayed in bed anyway, when he did test 5 days after it was negative but likely he had it. Although ds girlfriend lives with us and been unwell for couple days but still showing as negative so maybe two bugs in house. All relatively mild so far apart from one day. When i had it , it floored me so really hoping I have some immunity left from last time.

healthadvice123 · 17/12/2023 22:05

@colouringindoors we have always find flowflex to be quite accurate for us. But ds1 tested prob too late as 5/6 days after what we now know was first symptom and he was negative. So many people I have spoke to are not testing though and if feel ok just going out, rules are silly as if you test you are recommended to isolate. If you don’t test but have symptoms just stay home if unwell / high temp so several people have said , don’t test , then don’t know. I just feel bad and don’t want anyone to get ill over xmas from us , if we went out with it.

colouringindoors · 18/12/2023 11:34

yeah healthadvice I only know of one family who are testing 😔. Likewise don't want to spread it but need to see some people... was feeling better yesterday but less so today...
