Hello I was just wondering if anyone has recently had it and how they felt. I know the normal thing is to get a test but how accurate are they now. I've got a cough and sore throat and just feel tired and achey. Felt very anxious last week and tearful. Colds and the like do affect me like that as I have anxiety anyway so if I'm run down I feel worse. I went to give blood earlier in the week and they turned me away anyway as my iron was 1mg too low but I'm just wondering really

just getting over it now. First time for me. It started with feeling nauseous achy & incredibly tired. Then came the scratchy throat & congestion. I had fever for the first couple of days, then it was just like a head cold with fatigue. A week on & im better except the fatigue which is intense. Just started taking floradix (which has iron in it) and I’m resting loads.

I tested on a year old test & a fat red line appeared immediately

hope you feel better

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/10/2023 15:46

Thanks. I've also got a bit of a headache so I'm thinking I'm doing the right thing staying away from brownies (I'm an owl) and drum lesson (small room). Still going to hairdressers tomorrow as paid £53 deposit and already rescheduled once though but going to come straight home and stay home. Not going to see my elderly mum either. It's just it's not a hacking cough but a scratchy one so don't know if I'm overthinking it. I usually go running on a Friday but I think it will just make me feel worse. Especially as it's absolutely pouring outside as well. Is floradix over the counter? Think I need some.
Glad you're starting to feel better. Thanks for your message

Why don’t you do a test? Instead of guessing.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/10/2023 15:52

I probably should but I heard they're not all that accurate anymore and you have to do several before you would know so how much would that cost me

In the middle of my first covid experience!
I tested positive two days after being exposed. Started with diarrhoea and nausea. Have had two days of intense body aches, a really cloudy, fuzzy head with terrible headache. Tinnitus. Fatigue but can’t sleep. Constant feeling of nausea. Body very sensitive. Today I feel slightly better, in that my head is a bit clearer but cold symptoms now so lots of sneezing, sore throat and coughing. Headache still there and nausea. Hope I’m over the worst now on Day 3.
Hope you feel better soon!

Becas4 · 13/10/2023 16:17

Yes you can get it in pharmacies etc. metatone is another one. Basically b vits & iron. My advise is to rest as much as possible, as it can hit hard otherwise. I just did one test & it showed positive immediately. Take care

Cannas · 13/10/2023 16:31

The tests do still work, especially if you are at the worst stage.
Both my adult DC and their partners have it at the moment and have all been quite unwell, much worse with this current version than when they last had it a year ago.
Sore throat, heavy cold symptoms, headache lasting days, fever and fatigue. Tests came up red instantly.

You don't have to test or isolate, I imagine you probably got it at Brownies as it's rife in schools atm. IMO it's quite useful to know when you have it, especially for those unfortunate enough to end up with long term issues.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/10/2023 18:29

That's true. I reckon whatever it is I got in the office as there is loads of coughing and sneezing there. Or from DD as she has been coughing a bit but not as bad as me. I wish my anxiety wouldn't start up with things like this as well as I just want to rest not be stressing. Thanks all

I’m in the middle of my first experience of Covid. Weirdly I’ve hardly had a cough at all, just lots of sneezing and snotty nose. But I’ve felt very dizzy, and a feeling like I’m on a boat. Weak and shaky. Very tired but unable to sleep because of the seasick feeling. Headaches and like pp said my body feels very sensitive. So weird.

My husband works in the NHS and he’s heard that some GP’s have dubbed it ‘Novid’ because it doesn’t show up as a positive on the tests until several days in. Which happened to us.

Cannas · 13/10/2023 21:18

I don't think the cough has been a major symptom since omicron emerged. The weakness, nausea, headache and dizziness were symptoms when I first had it in 2021.

doglikescheeseontoast · 13/10/2023 21:33

I've got it now. The first symptom for a couple of days was a vile taste in my mouth, and food tasting wrong. Then on Wednesday the shivers started, along with fatigue, headache and a cough. It really is the gift that keeps giving because today my new friends vomiting and diarrhoea have arrived. It didn't occur to me to test until Wednesday, but I got a dark positive very quickly, same again today.

Trampauline · 13/10/2023 21:36

I've also got covid for the first time just now. Have had it for 4 days. Have started to feel a lot better today. The worst thing has been the constant crushing headache that I had for the first two days that paracetamol wouldn't touch, also nausea at the same time. Also slight upset stomach and a bit feverish. Now the headache has gone, nausea comes and goes. Have hardly eaten for days and appetite still not back. Have been a bit sniffly today with catarrh throat. Have had three very bad nights thanks to the headaches and nausea. One night I had the most shocking upsetting nightmares I've ever had

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/10/2023 21:38

Sorry to hear how rough you all feel. I don't think it is that. Just a horrid cough and sore throat and tiredness. But it's the anxiety that's horrible. There was one of those daddy long leg spiders in the bathroom just now and it was giving me the absolute creeps and they don't normally bother me.

Tested positive yesterday. I'm strangely hungry. Coughing and sneezing a lot. I'm feeling generally lethargic.

healthadvice123 · 13/10/2023 21:46

floatingdog · 13/10/2023 22:05

Think everyone is different. We've had it over the last few weeks.

DH had a very mild occasional cough and didn't feel at all unwell
I had a head cold, felt tired/drained/a bit dizzy for a few days (no cough)
Dad had sore throat and chesty cough

Babymamamama · 24/11/2023 18:09

Did anyone else have the itchy eyes. Wondering if I’m an anomaly as that was one of my worst symptoms this time around.

I've just had it. My eyes weren't itchy but they were sore and burning.

Coughingrobin · 24/11/2023 18:53

I tested positive a month ago. Woke up in the middle of the night feeling freezing cold but burning up with a fever. Had some paracetamol and went back to sleep then woke up and did a test which was negative. Called in sick and went back to bed and within a couple of hours had an excruciating headache. Did another test in the evening and it turned deep red within about 10 seconds. Had 2 days of the headache, then 3 days of horrific sore throat that painkillers didn’t touch. Weird slight cough with very sticky thick phlegm that only lasted a day. And awful nausea throughout that never went away and felt a bit like morning sickness. I felt incredibly weak and dizzy and took almost 2 weeks off work, mostly in bed. Was testing strongly positive for 14 days. 2 weeks on I’m still very weak, my chest feels tight and painful and I can’t exercise at all. Only just getting my taste and smell back. Very unpleasant!

Coughingrobin · 24/11/2023 18:54

oh And yes to the sore eyes! One of my first symptoms.

Babymamamama · 24/11/2023 19:35

Omg so I wasn’t the only one with sore eyes. I bought all these different eye drops to try to get some relief. Still not totally back to normal. My eyes feel kind of delicate still.
