Hi. I've got covid for the 1st time. I literally feel like I've been trampled. Body aches, shivers, sweats, fever, nausea, throat feels like full of glass, ribs ache from coughing. Nothing helps! Anyone have any remedies they've tried? I just want to sleep 😴

First time I had it, it FLOORED me.

Second time, no bother!

TheOhGodOfHangovers · 01/10/2023 21:00

Honey, lemon and hot water for the sore throat. Also gargling with salt water.
Vicks on throat chest and back. Sleep, sleep and sleep. Don’t push yourself.

Hope you all feel better soon.

Has anyone else had that feeling of something crawling on you? I keep checking for bloody spiders in bed it's horrible.

I had this. It freaked me out.

Cold showers if you can get out of bed and lots of water and sleep. I coughed all day for over two months. Horrendous. I thought I was dying. Hope you feel better soon, OP.

I had my booster yesterday (high risk category) and this is making me feel very pleased I booked it in quick

Oh and PLEASE keep up with paracetamol /ibuprofen.

It was only when I stopped taking paracetamol and let the fever do its thing that I started to get better.

And this is a v good point.

After a talking to from a HCP friend I let my toddler rock a 38.5 temp for 24 hours recently without cracking out the calpol. She shrugged it off noticeably quicker (it wasn't Covid)

Please don't let the fever run, that won't help you get better & could cause harm. Take paracetamol & ibuprofen.

It doesn't cause harm unless it gets over 41, which is v v rare and would see your relatives taking you to a&e anywya

Notcookie · 01/10/2023 21:11

I agree with letting the fever run. I had 39 degree fever for 6 days but then recovered really quickly. I believe that unless you are getting into dangerous levels of fever its better to let your body do its thing and fight off the virus by raising your temperature. You feel awful but its how your immune system is designed to work.

Blueeyedmale · 01/10/2023 21:19

First time I had it unvaccinated was not to bad,2nd time I had it vaccinated it absolutely floored me presumably (omicron) apparently this new one pirlo strain is pretty rough symptoms wise

Smallinthesmoke · 01/10/2023 21:20

Lots of sleep.
Cold wet flannel on forehead.
Sips of squash.
Don't try to get better too quickly.
I am sorry, I had it, it was horrible.

ChaToilLeam · 01/10/2023 21:59

Just had it, though it is abating now.

Lots of fluids, lots of sleep. Icelandic moss lozenges for the cough. Eat whatever is bland and doesn’t make you feel worse. I reached for crisps.

Short walks in fresh air as soon as you feel able, but don’t overdo it. Get well soon! ❤️‍🩹

Worddance · 01/10/2023 21:59

Neurofen. It is awful.

TeenLifeMum · 01/10/2023 22:06

I slept for 5 days solid and totally missed my 40th birthday sleeping through it. McDonald’s banana milkshake was the only thing that I “ate” for the whole week. It then took 3-4 weeks to feel fully recovered. I’m fit and healthy usually so it was a shock and everyone at work says “oh it was just a cold so I worked from home” as if I’m not dedicated!

paulhollywoodshairgel · 01/10/2023 23:12

Someone said to me today 'it's not that bad, it's just like having the flu' well I'd say having the flu is also pretty shit!!! It's nice to know I'm not alone ❤️ I'm piggybacking I lbuprofen and cold and flu tablets and just sleeping as much as I can. Hope everyone else who is poorly feels better soon ❤️
