Tested positive how long did you feel like rubbish?

I felt like crap yesterday, headache felt sick but put it down to the 2 glasses of wine I'd had the night before and wondered if it was a dodgy bottle. As the day progressed my throat became really sore, I started coughing and I felt feverish. Cat napped on and off during the afternoon up until about 2am this morning when I felt so rough. Took a test and came up straight away.

I've taken the usual, paracetamol had some ginger tea, ate a spoonful of local honey and a glug of elderberry syrup.

I don't feel sick anymore, my throat is still sore and I sound awful my headache is also less, so am I likely to just keep improving now? How rubbish did you feel?

What variant is this likely to be and long do I need to hide away for and enjoy tv, chocolate and some peace and quiet?

There’s 3 variants going around apparently I was positive for 8 days the first 4 were the worse, body aches especially my hands, high temp and fever, then went with cold symptoms I’ve been left with a bad cough and no smell or taste,2 weird symptoms were insomnia just wasn’t tired at all and being really hungry.

BitOutOfPractice · 30/09/2023 09:58

I felt a bit off colour for 2-3 days when I had it 3 weeks ago.

I carried in working, but from home.

btw I LOVE your thoughts about a dodgy bottle of wine. I think I must’ve had the same last night 😉

WildFlowerBees · 30/09/2023 10:32

It's always the wine! I was really annoyed because it was so nice but I felt so awful the next morning I was cursing it. However the silver lining is that it wasn't the wine so I'm can happily drink it again!

3 variants? Great, do we get some immunity now or just against the variant we've had? Or none.

My tongue feels so weird, like it's swollen and on fire. Bizarre symptom.

I’ve had it bad ! 2 weeks ago and it lasted for good 8 days of fainting, throwing up plus “the other way”…

Only positive is I lost a stone !

Christ that sounds awful, are you recovered now?

RabbitsRock · 30/09/2023 10:41

The cough was the worst for me - weeks & weeks. Dreadful at night because I kept urging with an horrendous tickle. I also had an extremely sore mouth & it felt like my tongue was burning. If I think back, it took several weeks for that to clear up too.

Yes all fine now … now my focus is to maintain that size 8 😂

on a serious note started taking tube again so getting paranoid 😣

hope you recover soon!

Hedonism · 30/09/2023 10:44

I'm pretty sure I've just had it, but didn't test - just stayed at home whilst I was feeling dodgy and switched to online meetings. It started 2 weeks ago, I felt really rough for 3 days with a sore throat, cough, awful headache, and weirdly aching sides. I'm feeling mostly better now, but the brain fog really isn't shifting. I had a conversation with a friend yesterday and used the wrong names for 2 of her 4 children 😳

Hedonism · 30/09/2023 10:46

Oh yes, and the neuralgia! I felt all tickly for days.

DampSummer · 30/09/2023 10:47

I'm on day three and I feel absolutely awful

OldTinHat · 30/09/2023 10:56

I had it end of August. Tested positive for 9 days, properly ill for two weeks, still can't taste or smell, have a blocked ear and still coughing. Bleurgh!

Get well soon!

WildFlowerBees · 30/09/2023 11:34

So many different symptoms, I do get irritated with the 'it's just a cold' it really isn't. Also I've had the weirdest dreams, I hope everyone recovers well. Just hope there's some immunity to be had or it all just seems unfair.

I’m on day 4 main thing is achy heavy limbs and sore joints. Just shuffled around the park with the poor dog like an 80 year old. I drove the 10min walk to the park to avoid dragging myself up the hill on the way back. I am supposed to work a 10 hour shift on Monday in a public facing role and apparently testing (very) positive is no longer a reason not to come in. I really don’t think any of our clients want Covid and the team are decimated precisely because others are not getting sick pay so are dragging themself in whilst positive.

WildFlowerBees · 30/09/2023 19:55

I think I'd cope better if the headache would go away, it gives some respite then comes back and I'm back to shivering and my skin hurts which sounds weird. Really hope tomorrow is better this is such a pain in the arse.

My headache shifted after a couple of days, it's the sore throat which is driving me mad. I'm struggling to sleep with it and eating is hard too.

Berninaa · 01/10/2023 07:58

I tested positive on Wednesday. I’d felt unwell since Saturday eve. Still feel grim, high temperature, sore throat, headache, my complete body aches, joint pain, hurts to hold my head upright, dizzy, nausea, pains in my hands and weird thumb tremors.

I’m rarely off sick but I couldn’t work with this.

C1239 · 01/10/2023 08:04

How much immunity do you think we have after catching it? Bit worried if there are two or three varients around at the moment could we catch one of the other ones soon after? Thoroughly fed up of covid now!

I'm wondering this, I'm guessing none against the variants we don't have.

It’s so annoying! Really don’t want another winter of non stop germs!

PinkRoses1245 · 01/10/2023 08:25

Who cares, and why anyone tests is mad. If you’re ill, be ill at home.

ProfessionalCornflake · 01/10/2023 08:37

I felt rubbish with a burning throat very suddenly last Saturday, on Sunday had aches all over and felt a bit sick. Monday felt like a bad head cold but at the night tested positive, stayed off work tues and Weds. Jaw pain headaches and earache on and off the whole time. Very snotty and couldn't sleep much. So I'd say the worst was the first 4-5 days. Thurs and Fri work told me to go in, so I did, and just felt very foggy but capable enough. This weekend feels like the aftermath of flu - I'm very tired, small jobs are exhausting me, can't remember things, also still can't taste or smell, still full of snot and now a dry cough. Sleeping a bit better now though thankfully.

Last time I had covid I barely ate, went totally off chocolate/sweet stuff and lost loads of weight (I needed to, so it was fine!) This time however I've been absolutely constantly starving, even though I can't taste, very weird!

I've been starving! It's very odd!
I tested positive last Monday. First few days - fever, sore throat, aching limbs.
Recovered a d went back to work on Monday of this week. So tired and today I'm really ache and my throat is so sore! No idea what's going on!
I'm negative now!

WildFlowerBees · 05/10/2023 11:32

I'm still trucking on with the merry go round of symptoms day 7 and my positive line is still as red as ever. I am sick of feeling like shit. Surely this has to end soon??

Toughtips · 05/10/2023 11:44

I've got COVID. I started with a random cough, then it's developed into achey back and legs, more coughing, headache, tight chest and now a snotty nose. Ugh. Day 5 today no signs of improvement.

Berninaa · 05/10/2023 11:50

Day 9 and no longer + but I feel dreadful, clammy, sweaty, dizzy, absolutely knackered.
