People still testing, where are you getting the tests from?

I'm torn. I know there's no requirement, it's a bit of a quandary because unless I'm too ill to work, I'm supposed to be at work and that's where I come into contact with the most people, but I have a sore throat and no tests...

A lot of people do seem to be testing quite often, are they paying for the tests?

Work have them. They give us them 5 at a time.

PickAChew · 11/09/2023 18:09

The supermarket though the last lot came from amazon as they were half price.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 11/09/2023 18:09

I don't test . If I'm well to go to work , if I'm too sick I stay off
I don't know anyone that tests nowadays
I had a test left over from when covid was rife . I was positive. Both my workplaces ( 2 jobs ) said I had to go in unless I was too sick to work . Both retail

dementedpixie · 11/09/2023 18:09

Some people (like me) likely have them left over from when they were freely available. I dont think I'd pay for more once mine have expired/have been used

teenysaladandsniffofarose · 11/09/2023 18:09

I got one a couple of weeks ago at boots for £2

I tested because I'm pregnant so wanted to know. I also wanted to know to avoid people as some of my family are vulnerable.

Tortiemiaw · 11/09/2023 18:11

I work for the nhs (insanely there were none at my surgery), so I had to nip to the chemist to get some. 5 for a tenner. Also a colleague got some in boots

dothehokeycokey · 11/09/2023 18:12

Amazon

Just bought some more and think it was £10 for 10

I work very closely with many people and also have kids that are with other people children.

There's loads of threads here where people are aghast at testing etc but I don't want to be a carrier and pass it on and if I get it being self employed it's over a weeks loss like last time I got it.

If I carried in work I g with it I think I'd lose my business fairly quickly

Amazon. I'll only test if I am ill. I test because I like to know what I have. Both times I've had Covid it has started as a cold then escalated to a point where it is difficult to breathe, not because of snot, because I can't take in enough oxygen. If I have Covid rather than a cold I want to know so I don't push myself to get better too quickly and end up worse.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/09/2023 19:34

Amazon. I only tested because I was coughing more than usual and have very elderly family and work with someone vulnerable.

3WildOnes · 11/09/2023 19:37

I still get free tests through work. I think we are expected to stay off for 5 days if we are positive.

Floralnomad · 11/09/2023 20:58

I got some free from the Govt due to my various conditions .

Charlieandlola · 11/09/2023 21:00

Amazon - I test regularly as I am in and out of nursing homes each week .

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 11/09/2023 21:05

I test when I'm ill so that I can avoid spreading it around if I do have COVID.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 11/09/2023 21:06

Me too. Boots.

runoutofgoodusernames · 11/09/2023 21:07

Free from the government when you work for the NHS.

Rounee · 11/09/2023 21:08

I've still got some in dates ones at home.

But don't test

Luno · 11/09/2023 21:08

I got 5 for £3 on Amazon

fridaynight1 · 11/09/2023 21:10

All my tests were past use by date so I threw them away. I did try to use one but all the liquid had dried up.

ZZGirl · 11/09/2023 21:12

Got mine in my chemist today. I've got covid 🤧👍

greengreengrass25 · 11/09/2023 21:13

I know, I wish you could buy liquid separately as the tests are fine, such a waste

grosslyunfair · 11/09/2023 21:20

We had a family event last weekend. 9 people. 5 now positive and ill, one in hospital, 4 negative.

I bought some tests after that (I'm one of the negatives) because I have a colleague with a new born and did a volunteer project with vulnerable people. Still negative and won't test again unless I'm sick. Bought from boots

greyhairnomore · 11/09/2023 21:37

Government. I'm still expected to stay off for 5 days.

Bearpawk · 11/09/2023 21:52

Do you really not know where to buy tests?
Supermarkets have them
Pharmacies have them
Boots/ Superdrug have them
Amazon have them
Some organisations buy them in bulk for staff
It's not rocket science

Fizzology · 11/09/2023 21:55

Superdrug

Flibbertigibbettytoes · 11/09/2023 21:56

You can get them free if recognised as vulnerable. I test before visiting vulnerable people and usually buy from chemists or supermarket.
