COVID again? If you've got it/had it recently

I've been ill for about five days, started with vomiting and fever, bad headache and aches all over. I slept constantly once the vomit finished for a whole day. Thought I was better after a day or two but I feel worse again, a strange dizziness, upset stomach, banging headache and so so tired.
I have had long covid and a terrible time after first infection but it was very much chest and respiratory based. This feels different in some ways (stomach and sick) but the extreme fatigue and dizziness are familiar. I have just ordered some tests. Anyone else had similar symptoms? The dizziness is like when I turn my head it takes a while for my vision to catch up. I don't know whether to soldier on with life or not, especially if I can't be sure it is/was covid. I feel awful though

Get better soon!

AlienSupaStar · 19/04/2023 11:16

I hope you are feeling better now @Willowtre1

Your first post describes exactly how I am feeling right now. I have ordered some tests but they have not arrived yet.

I am shocked at quite how bad I feel esp in respect of the upset stomach, feeling dizzy and nauseous and the banging headache.

It didn’t even occur to me that it might be Covid at first because my prior experiences were also very respiratory-based as you said.

I am also exhausted.

Get well soon.

Hi OP, I have covid atm and feeling horrendous. It started with a muscle pain in my upper back then I started feeling like I was getting a cold-sore throat, sneezes etc then awful aches and pains all over, going hot and cold. Terrible headaches but only at night. Feeling completely exhausted despite sleeping plenty. I suffered with really bad dizziness last time I had covid back in 2021 but this time it’s only been once I’ve felt a bit dizzy. Vomiting on day 2. I’m on day 4 now. Hoping to feel better for the weekend.

Willowtre1 · 20/04/2023 11:19

Thanks all. I am feeling much better, a covid test was negative but maybe I've tested too late. Not sure, it might have just been a different virus restarting some of my long covid symptoms. Wishing you all well!

My Dd has it. Day 5. Sore throat tired headache but a bit better now. I tested positive this morning but so far just sore throat. Was quite mild last time I got it (omicron) so hopefully will be mild again

Cheesymonster · 25/04/2023 16:54

I hope you are all feeling better. I have it now. Started with a sore throat Friday night then woke up Saturday with a blocked nose and cough. Has got progressively worse since then, constant sneezing and coughing so much to the point of almost vomiting. This is my second time of having it, the first I had bad breathing difficulties so relieved that's not the case this time. But completely blocked head and I can barely speak. Very pleased I haven't lost my sense of taste again, that was scary.

TooOldForThisNonsense · 25/04/2023 16:58

Hope you feel better soon. I had it a month ago and it felt just like a cold.

Limetreee · 26/04/2023 14:42

I started suddenly last Thursday coughing and sneezing, felt okay through the day on Friday but then spiked a temperature , nausea and diarrhoea Friday night. Stuffy nose, headache and coughing sat and sun with a temp. Felt a bit better Mon and Tuesday but now wed, feel awful again headache and coughing again. Does anyone know what might happen next ?

Coffeeandcatsforlife · 26/04/2023 20:56

@Limetreee i think it just depends on each individual tbh. I had terrible random pains all over my body. Complete exhaustion, nausea, vomiting, cold like symptoms. A week later I’m better, but still have a sore throat and feel really tired really quickly so trying to pace myself. Hope you feel better soon.

Mydoghealsmyheart · 30/04/2023 14:58

I’ve tested positive today after being ill since Wednesday with what I thought was a sore throat, viral thing. But it’s progressed to bad cough, pain in ribs back and front, sore throat still, runny nose, sneezing and zero energy. I’ve had four vaccines/boosters so I thought I was probably fairly well protected. I had Covid really bad in 2021 and was hospitalised twice and then left with long Covid so I’m very scared of this infection. When I was in hospital last time the doctor said that days 10-14 are when you either get much better or steadily worse. Does anyone know if this would still apply if someone has been vaccinated?

Neverplayleapfrogwithmrpipes · 30/04/2023 15:08

I have had exactly the same with a negative test but I feel shocking.
Plus I have endo and going through the menopause but on Monday I had a sharp pain and have had the most horrific period ever! I think a fibroid has popped and just added to the shittiness!

Mydoghealsmyheart · 30/04/2023 15:38

Sorry to read you’re feeling rough as well. Have you been vaccinated?

Yellowdays · 30/04/2023 17:16

I don't, @Mydoghealsmyheart , but I did read that the vaccine prevents death very effectively. Try not to worry, and look after yourself.

I've got Covid for the third time and the symptoms are exactly the same as the first two times: sore throat; fever with horrendous chills and sweating; loss of smell and taste; cough/sneezing; extreme fatigue; aches.

I am never, ever ill except, apparently, with Covid.

Mydoghealsmyheart · 01/05/2023 02:02

Have you been vaccinated? I spoke to out of hours GP tonight and he said that catching Covid after being vaccinated “should” reduce severity of illness.

Mydoghealsmyheart · 01/05/2023 02:02

What day of the infection are you on?

ShowOfHands · 01/05/2023 20:05

I've had three doses of the vaccine. Today is day 5 and I feel much better after sleeping 11hrs straight last night.

Back to work tomorrow!

Mydoghealsmyheart · 01/05/2023 21:25

I’m feeling a bit better this evening too. So thankful for the vaccine.

Just my personal opinion based on my own experience.

Izadrennan · 03/05/2023 18:15

Currently got covid, started with feeling like a rough cold, then convinced it was sinusitis, my head and face were so sore, sudafed helped but then my taste and smell went, couldn't even taste listerene when usually it burns the mouth off me 😂 tested positive, then the exhaustion was out of this world, then breathless and wheezing, now got antibiotics and inhaler (I'm not asthmatic), but the tiredness is ridiculous, third time having covid and this feels different, it's the worst so far, had all the vaccinations offered to me

KatieBenz · 03/05/2023 18:44

Just tested positive. Thought it was really bad hayfever/sinusitis, but with a hacking cough. Have been feeling rough for 4 days.
