Testing negative, could it be Covid anyway ? DH positive.

DH and I both ill with much the same symptoms. Cough, temperature, flat out total exhaustion. He started to feel off on Sunday morning and tested positive on Sunday evening. I started to feel off late Sunday night but I am negative so far. It seems unlikely that I have something different but why am I not positive? I am staying at home, but too unwell to go anywhere anyway. I am slightly less rough today than yesterday when I couldn’t really move.
Could it be the test brand ? DH used an NHS one we had and I have used a different one from Tesco. Dd has a sore throat and is slightly off colour but also testing negative. Although she has had Covid before and only tested positive for two days, again with just a sore throat and no other symptoms.

Frankly who cares???!!

Well I do, obviously, or I wouldn’t have posted. Why bother replying just to be unkind to someone ? Do you speak to people like that in real life ?

I still have to care as I have a vulnerable elderly mother.

Stop trying to bait people.

I have been hunting for some flowflex as dd thinks that is the brand she brought back from university but her stuff is everywhere. Will do one tomorrow if I can’t find them, as either the Boots ones will arrive or my friend will pick some up for me.

Stronger line on the Tesco one this morning. I Have been coughing all night. Uggh. Bloody Covid. I have so much to do , but feel horrible. Left all my tender plants out as I meant to bring them in on Monday but I was too ill to move, and we’ve had a hard frost overnight. I actually thought I might be immune to Covid as although DH has had it twice before and dd three times, I had escaped..until now.
How long does it last now ?

Bore off

No one can say how long it lasts @SirVixofVixHall as everyone is different. What you do have to do is a) treat it a bit more carefully than a regular cold and b) try to be patient until it has passed.

I would say a week is not unusual, many of my friends have been off work a week rather than the 1-2 days you get with 'just a cold'.

Get well soon Brew

@Jules912 how do you know they are false positives, did you do PCR? False positives are unlikely, false negatives however are very common.

Yes, back when that was an option. He missed so much school waiting for PCRs to come back. The false ones were always a thin grey line, his real one was bright red.

@Jules912 thanks, so they were basically evaporation lines rather than the dye in the test line being activated.

I don't know, it was on the right place and no one else got these lines. First one was following several cases in his class so thought we'd caught it right at the start before the PCR came back negative.
