Covidd is rising. I just came back from abroad and nobody wore a mask on the plane/ I think that is awful. Liz Trus shoul insist on wearing a mask on all public transport. I caught covi on the plane. Whhen I went abroad previously a few onths ago masks were compulsory

She should go

Theee is no way you know you caught covid on a plane and nothing to stop you wearing a mask and heavily using anti bac while travelling

nannybeach · 18/10/2022 18:23

Planes are notorious for bugs. You could double mask yourself.

dementedpixie · 18/10/2022 18:24

You could have caught it on holiday rather that on the plane. Why is it Liz Truss's fault you caught covid?

Did you wear a mask on the plane? If not, why not if it was so important to you?

Mojoj · 18/10/2022 18:24

Why don't you just mask up to your heart's content and let everyone else get on with their lives?

TeenDivided · 18/10/2022 18:25

Planes are notorious for bugs.
If you are that worried you shouldn't have flown.

Liz Truss has been in place 5 minutes and has been busy screwing up the economy. You can't say she should resign because you chose to fly on a plane.

EdithWeston · 18/10/2022 18:25

I note that Germany and Switzerland have both reintroduced masks for hospitals and other medical settings, and on public transport and a few other indoors events.

I doubt this government has the common sense. It's the only one to have rejected Evusheld. And we have the highest per-million hospitalisation rates. Not good at all

JudithHarper · 18/10/2022 18:25

Why do you need Liz Truss to tell you what to do?

If you believe that masks work, just get on with it and wear one.

Just don't demand others to do the same.

Bornslippery · 18/10/2022 18:32

🙄

2020firsttimemum · 18/10/2022 18:44

This one's gotta be a joke yeah?

Imagine taking some personal responsibility if you feel that strongly 😂

Clarabe1 · 18/10/2022 18:45

You wear a mask. I bloody aren’t. Get over yourself

ihatethefuckingmuffin · 18/10/2022 18:46

It’s not up to Truss to decide to mandatory mask wearing on planes. So her wanting them back on public transport wouldn’t make an iota of difference on your recent travel experience.

If you want to wear a mask then crack on and carry on.

Are you also regularly washing your hands correctly with soap and water or just relying on antiback stuff that still should be used with soap and water or as a temporary measure until you can wash hands. Good hand hygiene will protect you more.

Perfectlystill · 18/10/2022 18:47

The Liz Truss replies are making me laugh!

ParkheadParadise · 18/10/2022 18:48

🤔
Mumsnet gets more bonkers every time I open a thread lately.

And then we wonder why we have so many more people in hospital with covid!!

Because of course our health services were in so much better shape than say Germany's, so we're bound to breeze through the BQ waves.

Covid will mutate to overcome vaccines and immunity.

It won't be able to avoid masks or air quality measures.

We need a proper consideration of how much debilitating sickness the country can afford.

But there's no way that the hard-right individualists of "you do you, I'll do me" are going to even consider either the economic or health sequelae of uncontrolled high transmission.

tandmoo · 18/10/2022 19:03

Here we go again

Stick you're mask where the sun doesn't shine

Parky04 · 18/10/2022 19:06

Bore off.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 18/10/2022 19:07

I've just come back from Spain. Didn't even occur to me to pack masks.

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/10/2022 19:08

🙄

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 18/10/2022 19:08

I've got bad news for you, OP. I had my booster yesterday and no-one was wearing masks, including NHS staff. If you're that worried about covid do you really need the PM to tell you to stick a mask on?

RedDiamond · 18/10/2022 19:10

Best laugh I have had in ages OP! Thanks!

Topseyt123 · 18/10/2022 19:12

You are allowed to wear a mask if you wish to. Nobody is stopping you. Many of the rest of us do not want to and are thankfully no longer obliged to.

Liz Truss's fuck ups are many, but this isn't one of them. Sorry to disappoint you there.

The mask police surely died the death long ago, fortunately.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 18/10/2022 19:12

But there's no way that the hard-right individualists of "you do you, I'll do me" are going to even consider either the economic or health sequelae of uncontrolled high transmission.

We've seen the economic and health (both mental and physical) effects of lockdown and furlough, thanks.

Covid will mutate to overcome vaccines and immunity

In that case I doubt a badly fitting paper mask bought from the newsagents for a £ 1 will be much help.

'Hard right' 😆

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/10/2022 19:13

The only place I wear a mask, is at work.

Same here. I had mine on Saturday. Very few people wearing masks, I'm glad to say.

I've just come back from Spain. Didn't even occur to me to pack masks.

I've been to Spain twice this year. No masks except a very few people on the trains there, but even then it wasn't enforced and a large number of people didn't wear one.

I don't think I had even packed any.
