Had an email today, masks to be worn at work, and two negative tests before you go back to work. In this heat too !

Nah

Not happening

Surely you are 'exempt'?

MiniCooperLover · 11/07/2022 19:17

Where do you work?!

colouringfoxes · 11/07/2022 19:18

Good.

Ontobetterthings · 11/07/2022 19:20

Where do you work? Can you wfh?

KalvinPhillipsBoots · 11/07/2022 19:20

You do not need to wear them, there is no legislation in place, masks do nothing at all.

Borgonzola · 11/07/2022 19:21

I had covid in the last heatwave, so having covid in this heat is probably worse than wearing a mask

RoseAndRose · 11/07/2022 19:21

I doubt their bringing it in for the shitz and gigglez

Transmission is high at the moment, and its making a lot of people proper poorly for about 5 days. Keeping enough staff working is likely to be critical for the functioning (or even survival) of the organisation

What a shame Hmm there's many of us who haven't been able to get rid of wearing one for work

Itsbackagain · 11/07/2022 19:25

Tens of thousands haven't stopped wearing them ......

IGotItInTheSales · 11/07/2022 19:27

Just don't wear it op

lunar1 · 11/07/2022 19:27

It's good you had a break from them. our hospital trust have been wearing them since this started.

roarfeckingroarr · 11/07/2022 19:32

What industry are you in?

Can you refuse?

HuffleWoof · 11/07/2022 19:39

Colleague of mine has been suspended for not wearing a mask she works on a ward for children who have had a bone marrow transplant. She refused to be redeployed and refused to wear a mask so suspended she must be

BlanketsBanned · 11/07/2022 19:42

What job do you do

Muchtoomuchtodo · 11/07/2022 19:49

We managed nearly 4 weeks of being mask free but they’ve been back for a few weeks now.

Not ideal, but if it keeps things ticking along then I’m happy to do it.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 11/07/2022 19:51

Never stopped wearing them, just get on with it.

LesLavandes · 11/07/2022 19:55

Covid is rife at the moment

est1899 · 11/07/2022 19:56

Been wearing masks all the way through as I work in a hospital. Just wash your face more often if you get sweaty and change the mask if it's damp. You can move your mask to eat and drink so keep a bottle of water with you. Also been doing twice weekly lateral flow testing since 2020 so I really don't see your issue with you employer wanting to make sure you're not contagious still before coming back to work.

CallOnMe · 11/07/2022 20:01

Most of the people at my work have decided to start wearing them again and disinfecting surfaces more often etc it’s like having deja vu it’s weird.

But we’re all very respectful of each other and after a couple people starting being off sick for it we just automatically started wearing them again but it’s not a rule.

We have vulnerable students and family members so it’s something we will probably do from now on whenever there is a rise in cases of covid or any other illness.

If you are not comfortable wearing a mask then don’t wear one. I don’t believe workplaces can force you.

Quite right too! How utterly selfish.

Snowpatrolling · 11/07/2022 20:03

Same as others. Ive not stopped wearing masks since the beginning! And we are still testing twice a week.
suck it up buttercup or find a new job.

Rightly so.

Jules912 · 11/07/2022 20:10

Ours have started requesting we test before big meetings or events, which I wouldn't mind but they expect us to provide our own tests. I suspect the manager who suggested this is sharing his nhs employee DW's tests so doesn't see the issue.

Tablechairtable · 11/07/2022 20:13

Bet its in a hospital setting, admin? Clinical staff have already gone back to them. Some areas have never stopped.

Wizzbangfizz · 11/07/2022 20:16

Tens of thousands of people still in masks, I’ve travelled overseas and through 3 major cities in the past two weeks and hardly saw a single mask anywhere! I was asked to put on a mask at a walk in nhs centre on Sunday but I certainly won’t be testing or wearing a mask again - they were hardly effective last time where they!
