Unbearable cough - insides hurting so much

Any help or advise. The cough is just so tickly that I can’t help it but my insides hurt so much it worries me but I can’t stop coughing.
It has given me a headache too but I’m more worried about how it’s making my insides feel. Should I worry about this? It’s ribs but also sharp pain lower down..

Does the pain get worse when you breath in? How is your breathing?

I should imagine you've pulled something coughing and it is really painful but as someone who has had a PE before (blood clot) this would worry me a bit.

If you are short of breath I would pop and get checked out OP xx

Guys this is not getting any better. I am about 2wks on from symptoms started. And on night 5 of cough central. I now have the aching insides that Op mentioned from coughing so much. Just awful.

I had another bad night, several coughing fits and so much pain from coughing, I’m on day 9 😢. My dd is still coughing on day 11. I can’t believe so many people on MN and in RL of saying “it’s just a cold”, it certainly isn’t.

I had this just like you say it's as if a feather is tickling me. this was years before Covid existed, it lasted months. I kept telling the Dr I had a throat cough and not a chest one, so had all sorts of tests, antibiotics, medicines etc. It turned out ot be Acid reflux, it was the only symptom I had so no burning etc. Had a similar thing this winter and this time it was caused by a post nasal drip. Both times the amount of coughing I did gave me rib and muscle pain.

DH's coughing lasted a full month and exactly as you described OP. Right down to the rib pain.
Hang on in there, it's horrible I know x
