When did you start feeling ill?

Positive lateral flow yesterday. Previous day was negative. Only been testing as husband currently has it.

So far I feel a bit tired, a very slightly tight chest and I had a headache on Monday. I’m also isolating in my bedroom away from other family members which is probably making me feel more lethargic!

When did people start feeling ill? Fully vaccinated. In Scotland so still need to self-isolate.

Thanks @Phewthemutinyworked - yes I love Corsica, too! Have visited several times over 20 years and it is lovely. Although not easiest flight-wise.

Hoping to get back in the Autumn, but if this has taught us anything it's that you can't plan anything! Fingers crossed...

CorsicaDreaming · 14/04/2022 09:47

How are you feeling today @gardenhelpneeded ?
Hope you are not too bad.

I'm just feeling a bit tired and spacey with a productive but mild cough. Didn't sleep too bad but DH said he had a rough night with a high temperature.

A friend suggested high dose Vitamin C and D so we're taking that.

Plus thought I'd use the Vicks First Defence for colds and viruses and see if that helps... and I've upped my asthma medication. Plus Buttercup original cough syrup.

Plus lots of water, tea, and bread and honey.

It doesn't seem to be affecting appetite or taste for me at moment, if anything I feel more hungry. But that may be because I'm just sitting about not doing much so I'm thinking about food more.

gardenhelpneeded · 14/04/2022 10:02

I can’t decide if I feel tired because I’m sitting in bed or because I’m ill! My only symptoms are heavy legs, fatigue and breathlessness. If I hadn’t tested there’s no way I would think I had covid.

@CorsicaDreaming which day are you on? I’m day 3.

OP posts:
CorsicaDreaming · 14/04/2022 11:32

I'm Day 3 too
I feel better than yesterday and have got up and showered and made bread (although as that constitutes chucking some flour and yeast and bits in the bread machine and pressing the button, it's not exactly a Task of Hercules). We've run out so thought I'd better make it as can't pop to the bakers!

I actually fancied a coffee, which is always a barometer of illness for me. If I go off coffee and alcohol, I know I'm proper poorly. I'm going to swerve alcohol for a good while though as I have heard that can make you feel really rough during / after covid.

But still wondering if this is the calm before the storm and I will feel worse tomorrow.

I find it better pottering - but it's trickier for you if you need to isolate from others. Have you got a good PPE mask? Perhaps you could wear that?

Im going to take it v easy whatever I think and just set the bar at sitting in garden chatting on Mumsnet ... Although Sod's law that today is the day the car park behind us has decided to put up scaffolding all along the adjoining wall, so my planned peaceful coffee has a background of shouty men and power screwdrivers!

DS9 was patient zero on Monday, then me Tuesday, then DH on Wednesday. So we have our own family epidemiological study on progression! DS9 was definitely the most ill on day 1. I was really worried about him. But he now seems to have bounced back. Just a snotty nose and he is back shouting enthusiastically at his mates via Skype and Teams!

At mo, I'm faring best, although it's odd as usually hubby is very well and fights everything off, and I get every respiratory thing going and am really unwell with it

CorsicaDreaming · 14/04/2022 11:35

@gardenhelpneeded - also, I am intrigued by your posters name.

Is that because you don't like gardening?
Or have a v big garden ?
Or too busy doing everything else?

My little boy kept complaining of heavy legs.

I think that must be something that affects the fit ones as I don't have that 🤣

gardenhelpneeded · 14/04/2022 11:43

That’s interesting about your son’s legs! Good he feels better. My youngest (aged 15) who has it is not feeling great. Delivered him his breakfast on a tray together with vitamins and a Sudafed. Our older two are fine for now. Really keen for them not to get it. I’m struggling to breathe in a mask so just avoiding them and keeping windows/doors open.

Annoying about your peace and quiet. I’m still in bed but will get up and have a shower and try and do something.

The garden name is from a post ages ago where I was asking for garden advice!

It truly feels like Russian roulette on who and how it affects people.

Sudafed. Yes that is something I've never tried but probably should as a lot have said how much it helped.

My hubby has got up, feels rubbish, and gone back to bed. And he was running over the Downs on Monday. It's a weird one.

Totally agree with you re wearing a mask, horrible when you are struggling to breathe - and if you've still got people without it in the household you need to be really careful not to spread this variant I think. It just seems so transmissible.

Do hope your son feels better soon.

CorsicaDreaming · 14/04/2022 12:16

Well that makes sense on the user name 😆

CorsicaDreaming · 15/04/2022 10:48

Day 4

Morning @gardenhelpneeded - how are you feeling today?

I'm getting bit worse, I think. Snotty, grotty, spaced out feeling, sore throat, cough. And feeling bit hot.

How are you?

How is your son doing?

My DH is day 3 and he's only just out of bed and also feeling rubbish 🙁

gardenhelpneeded · 15/04/2022 11:31

Sorry to hear you’re feeling worse. I’m the same really. Tired and breathless. I’m going to use my inhaler (never normally need it). Just lying in bed. Doing absolutely nothing except eating and taking vitamins 😁 and planning future holidays!

OP posts:
gardenhelpneeded · 15/04/2022 11:31

Son still asleep!

OP posts:
gardenhelpneeded · 15/04/2022 11:32

Husband completely fine on day 9. Hoping for a negative lft

OP posts:
CorsicaDreaming · 15/04/2022 13:52

@gardenhelpneeded - well that sounds like a good use of the time. I love planning holidays 😊

I'm lying in the sun in the garden and thinking "well this is actually rather nice. Why do I never make time to do this when I'm not coughing, snuffling and feeling a bit shit?!"

CorsicaDreaming · 16/04/2022 12:01

How are you today @gardenhelpneeded ?

I just did an LFT. But still very strong positive

Getting a really chesty cough today too.

gardenhelpneeded · 16/04/2022 12:15

Sorry to hear your cough is worse. Just tired really. Not sure if it’s worse for lying around doung nothing. I’m normally super busy so feel soooo lazy.

We’re a bit short on lft so I’m waiting until tomorrow. Other son now saying he feels unwell. He’s had it twice already including in January so I was really hoping he’d avoid it and not have to miss more school. Sad

OP posts:
CorsicaDreaming · 16/04/2022 12:46

Yes to be honest it was a bit silly of me to do one. I felt fleetingly better when I first woke up so thought LFT might be negative. But really a bit of hope over reality Hmm
Hacking cough shortly also proved otherwise.

Do hope your other son escapes it. The schooling they've all missed is just terrible.

I'm the same re busyness - and to some extent the forced pause has been good, I think. Just wish I didn't have to feel so rotten to give myself permission... but do wish was up with my mum. She's feeling lonely 😔
