When did you start feeling ill?

gardenhelpneeded · 13/04/2022 08:36

Positive lateral flow yesterday. Previous day was negative. Only been testing as husband currently has it.

So far I feel a bit tired, a very slightly tight chest and I had a headache on Monday. I’m also isolating in my bedroom away from other family members which is probably making me feel more lethargic!

When did people start feeling ill? Fully vaccinated. In Scotland so still need to self-isolate.

I woke up in the morning fine, had a scratchy throat, walked kids to school, all okay.

Had a zoom 10-12, at 11 I felt a bit strange, can’t put my finger on it and I just knew. Did a test after the zoom and there was the faintest of lines.

Just felt gradually more tired throughout the day. Next morning I felt worse. I would say it was about 2/3 days before I felt very shit!

Get well soon, sleep whenever you can xx

gardenhelpneeded · 13/04/2022 09:02

Thanks. I do feel like I should be getting on and doing stuff. I’m a teacher in Easter holidays. But then I’m also thinking I should rest. Frustrating as I had so much to do this week!

I'm exactly same stage as you @gardenhelpneeded - DS9 got it on Monday, I tested and got a positive yesterday, and DH has just gone positive today.

Headachey, spacey and sore throat so far, plus tired - but can't actually sleep very well.

We've both been triple jabbed but DS not yet at all. DS was really quite poorly on Monday but has recovered quite a bit now.

I feel like I'm just waiting for it to kick in...

Such a shame as had so many plans for this week.

annonymousse · 13/04/2022 10:00

DH positive yesterday. I'm still negative but I have a headache, scratchy throat and very tired. It feels a bit inevitable

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 13/04/2022 10:32

I started with a headache for 3 days then I thought I had a chest infection coming with negative
LFT.
24 hours later I developed a scratchy throat and cough and a LFT was positive within a minute of doing it.
9 days now, negative test but awful cough, very dizzy and lethargic (I think I completely overdid it trying to keep going, I should have rested more)
Feel grim ☹️

Sorry @annonymousse but that's exactly the symptoms I have got Daffodil

I probably won't be saying this in a few days if I feel totally rough, but a part of me feels relief. I've been avoiding it for two years and it has been really blocking and prevented a lot of things.

Just hoping it will be good to just get it over and done with...

... although I guess even that isn't a given.

Bloody covid 😟

annonymousse · 13/04/2022 11:06

I had it 2 years ago and if I have to get it again I'm "pleased" it's now as we have a holiday booked in a couple of months. DH has avoided it for 2 years. I work in health care and got it before the vaccinations were available

beattieedny · 13/04/2022 11:08

Take it easy. It can start mild and peak at about 5-7 days ime.

DeathMetalMum · 13/04/2022 11:10

Only testing following symptoms. Is everyone buying tests just to see if they are positive? Even now they are no longer readily available?

wonkygorgeous · 13/04/2022 11:24

I tested positive early hours of Tuesday.

My symptoms had been (since Sunday) Brain fog and feeling very emotional. Gritty runny eyes were evident too.

Then I coughed for a single hour early hours of Tuesday so tested and it was a bright red positive.

I have a slightly runny nose. The main thing is the brain fog and gritty eyes.

Today is much the same as yesterday. I can't be bothered with doing much at all which isn't like me.

I have it more mildly that any of the children had, this surprised me as I'm mid 50's and thought it was worse with age.

In Scotland we’re still supposed to test if a close contact. Also I had a hospital appointment and the opticians booked so it seemed only considerate to test. We can still get lft free here for another 10 days.

My legs feel heavy and I feel a bit breathless after coming up the stairs. I ran 8km only 2 days ago!

Just taking this opportunity to do admin from my bed. The weather here is terrible.

@gardenhelpneeded

Annoyingly the weather here (southeast) is lovely - but we were on holiday in Devon last week and it was a lot of rain and cloud.

Should at least go and sit in the sun I guess, but now I've got a headache and sore eyes.... ugghh.

@annonymousse - yes that is true, we've got our first holiday abroad for 2.5 years booked in a couple of months, so good to get over it now I guess...

Irony is I work with students and have been getting pinged most weeks all term, and many don't wear masks - and didn't get it - but just as I breathe a sigh of relief that got to Easter without getting it, we've got it randomly off some friends!

Yes, we tested son due to symptoms and then us, and bought a pack as finished free ones now. We are now property isolating. We are In England, but it is still recommended even if not obligatory and I don't want to risk giving it to someone who might then be really unwell.

Had planned to go and see my 80 yr old Mum for Easter, but now won't be - and missed seeing her at Christmas due to Covid related reasons, too. It just feels like an endless shit show 🙄

gardenhelpneeded · 13/04/2022 14:25

Sorry to hear that @CorsicaDreaming about not seeing your mum. My husband has just tested and got a negative on day 6 which surprised me!

OP posts:
CorsicaDreaming · 13/04/2022 16:00

@gardenhelpneeded - we have a Full House now! Amazed your DH hasn't got it - you must be very good at isolating well - it just seems so incredibly transmissible now.

Apparently 1 in 13 people had it according to some stats last week.

Phewthemutinyworked · 13/04/2022 16:10

Well thanks to the selfish pig that was on the plane next to my sister 10 days ago who coughed and gobbed all over her from Gran Canaria she is still really unwell!
Her throat and high fever started 24 hrs later . Every bone in her body was hurting ,slept for 5 days and still feels like shit .
She cannot swallow her own saliva and is very tearful.
I hope you feel better soon .
P s I had it 18 months ago and apart from loosing smell and taste and feeling knackered I was ok .
Definitely think this strain is more symptomatic.

gardenhelpneeded · 13/04/2022 17:07

@CorsicaDreaming my husband had it first, passed it to me and is now negative day 7. One child out of three has it, the other two not yet!

gardenhelpneeded · 13/04/2022 17:10

@Phewthemutinyworked sorry to hear about your sister. Hope she feels better. Has she been vaccinated? It’s strange how it effects people differently. I just feel tired, fingers crossed that’s it.

I must admit my husband caught it abroad (but we didn’t realise) and starting coughing on the way home. He had a mask on but I was like Shock - he tested positive when we got home.

Your poor sister @Phewthemutinyworked - that sounds really bad Thanks I do think it comes down to viral load too. And sounds like she got a really large dose of it.

What a horrible selfish man on the plane 😟

Ahhh, I see - I think this variant is a "one out, all out" kind of gig. Incredibly transmissible.

CorsicaDreaming · 13/04/2022 18:28

@Phewthemutinyworked - did the man on the plane have a mask on? Sounds like not 😟
Really inexcusable to cough all over her

Although it is really unpleasant having a coughing fit or sneezing session in a mask, as I found out yesterday when we thought my DH didn't have it and I was wearing one in the house!

Phewthemutinyworked · 13/04/2022 18:55

@CorsicaDreaming
Yes I agree. My sister definitely got a high viral load and am sure it does make a difference .
I like your username…Corsica is glorious.

Timeforausernamechange22 · 13/04/2022 21:27

Saturday morning I felt fine. Late afternoon had that scratchy throat feeling when you know you might be coming down with something. Did lft in the evening and it was negative.
Woke up Sunday morning and every muscle in my body ached, felt weak and lethargic, sore throat. Lft again and vey positive.
Still quite tired, cough and sneezing, blocked runny nose, brain fog and finding it difficult to concentrate and lost all sense of smell ( when nose unblocked thanks to Sudafed)

Previous infection in December 2020, tripled vaxxed.
