Omicron - what was your incubation period?

Caveat - I know it's hard to pinpoint this for sure, however I'm curious...

If you're reasonably certain of when you caught covid, how long was your incubation period?

I've just tested positive, along with a few others, following a large family gathering. It was only 2 days ago which seems a bit of a short incubation period, so I'm pondering over whether it was caught at the wedding or beforehand. It doesn't really make any difference, I'm just pondering and looking for 'anecdata'!...

3.5 days.

roseberrycherry · 05/04/2022 20:09

I attended a wedding on a Saturday and tested positive on the Monday evening. I'm almost 100% sure I caught it from there.

PigeonWood · 05/04/2022 20:12

Partner was exposed on the Tuesday evening, started with symptoms Friday evening. I started with symptoms Sunday evening. DD1 started Monday, DD2 is fine so far 2 weeks on. DM was exposed on Sunday and started with symptoms Tuesday. I read the incubation period is shorter with omicron, usually 2 - 3 days.

SeaGlassBlue · 05/04/2022 20:15

I think I caught it in a restaurant. Symptoms started 4 days later, tested positive 7 days later.

Legsout · 05/04/2022 20:17

I caught it from my grandmother at 11am ish on Saturday morning. By Monday evening I was getting a scratchy throat. Was negative at that point but got a faint positive Tuesday morning - I was feeling decidedly odd by the Tuesday morning so guessed I’d caught it.

Unforgettablefire · 05/04/2022 20:22

I think about two days and it was all very strange. Felt ill one day when I got up and tested positive. Felt better after about five days then a week or so later started feeling really horribly ill and tested positive again, have never felt so ill in my life. Dd came down with it about five days after me.

At a gig on a Thursday, symptoms following Tuesday, + pcr on the Wednesday. Husband was at same gig and was 2 days ahead of me

newyeardelurker · 05/04/2022 20:28

It took two days for mild symptoms for me, another day for me to test - positive. DP caught from me same timings first symptoms day 2 positive test day 3.

Jules912 · 05/04/2022 20:36

I got symptoms 3 days after DS who I assume I caught it off, but I suspect DS and DM caught it from the same place 3 days before that and I was at the same place so could be 6 days.

Poppins2016 · 05/04/2022 20:58

Interesting, so Sunday is looking quite likely then. My DS also has a high temperature but currently testing negative... I suppose time will tell!

Two days between catching it and symptoms. There is only one place I could have caught it. I read that the BA2 variant incubation period can be as little as two days. Still, it will be out of the way for the Easter weekend so every cloud, etc.

EdithStourton · 05/04/2022 22:26

About three days, if I caught it from the person I think I did.

choirmumoftwo · 05/04/2022 22:32

Pretty confident I caught it at an evening wedding reception on a Friday, started coughing on the Sunday afternoon, strongly positive Sunday evening.
Now day 10 and still strongly positive. Heavy cold symptoms, fatigue and cough. No idea which variant.

thisismyusernamegoodeh · 05/04/2022 22:35

Max two days for me as I Isolated completely in run up to Christmas, 2 hours in pub for xmas day lunch with parents a drink in a pub on Boxing day and then felt shit on afterboon of 27th, dizzy, tired, sore throat, shivery. Positive confirmed v early the next morning. A few family members shortly followed. Pretty shitty Xmas present after having no xmas the year before and basically doing f.a. all year!

Kittycat24 · 05/04/2022 22:51

I caught omicron at work on the Friday, I tested positive on the Tuesday morning but had started to feel off/ill on the Monday.

mulberrybag5 · 05/04/2022 22:56

3 days

declutteringmymind · 05/04/2022 22:59

3-4 days. My husband was exposed on the Friday. He tested daily until a positive test on Monday. I developed symptoms on the Wednesday after.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 05/04/2022 23:02

Two days. It took ages to get a positive lateral flow - about a week - but PCR was positive. I’m in my third week now and still feeling quite rough plus no taste/smell.

oobedobe · 05/04/2022 23:24

went to a gig Tuesday evening, scratchy throat by Thurs evening, neg test Fri, positive test Saturday morning.

tigerbird · 05/04/2022 23:29

Two days for me. Popped to the shops last Christmas Eve (masked up in FFP2 and all!) - tested positive Boxing Day (only took an LFT because elderly relatives due to come round). Symptoms started evening of Boxing Day.

I hadn’t been out of the house 21-23rd, so the 24th was the only possibility!

ArmWrestlingWithChasNDave · 05/04/2022 23:36

Caught it between 6pm and 9pm on a Wednesday, developed the first symptom (headache) on the Friday evening. I didn't test positive on a lateral flow until the Sunday though.

AreWeThereYetMummy · 05/04/2022 23:57

4 days after for my husband and myself.

AreWeThereYetMummy · 05/04/2022 23:59

Meant to say, my 9 year old didn't test positive on a lft with a temperature of 39.6. We got a PCR which was positive (and expected to be as 3 of the rest of us in the house were positive.)

northernlola · 06/04/2022 00:03

4/5 days for me. Definitely caught it from my husband as he had a sore throat and tested positive before any of us. He tested positive on the Wednesday, I'm pregnant so was obsessive about testing. 4 days later on the Sunday I had a total squinter of a LFT, couldn't work out if there was a line or if I was going mad. So the next day, I took a PCR which was positive.

Axlcat · 06/04/2022 00:05

2.5 days - I am pretty certain I know where / who I caught it from
