Positive and feeling worried…

I tested positive on Tuesday. I was able to WFH that day although I was a little dizzy.
Wednesday I had to call in sick, I was very dizzy, nauseous, huge headache and sinus pressure, teeth ringing, slight fever, sneezing etc.

I was still like this Thursday and yesterday but today it’s sort of dropped out of my sinuses and now my chest feels heavy and I’m aching. Cough is slightly chesty and I feel wired, like my heart is racing. It isn’t and I’ve checked my pulse and O2 which is 97-99% and pulse 80-85bpm.

I’m worried that this is the start of the chest issues and I’ll go downhill from here.

I’m 48, no underlying conditions but a bit overweight, triple jabbed.

Has anyone else had this chest pressure and slight discomfort- it feels achy like I’m very slight short of breath?

And as an aside, if we are able to catch this over and over how can we cope if we get it like this??? What happens with work and absence? Can’t keep missing work every few months 😞

I’m just feeling down and anxious, I can’t see how we are going to live with this, it’s not the mild illness it’s been made out to be.

I have covid at the moment too. Day 4. Slight heaviness in chest but not too bad. Night nurse is helping me sleep which i think helps. Trying to drink plenty and eat healthy. What else can we do?

Trype · 02/04/2022 19:39

Have you been ravenously hungry despite feeling sick? The nausea is helped by eating.
I’ve eaten rubbish to be honest, I’m trying to isolate from the rest of the house so I’m just snacking on toast or crisps or soup.

I hope you feel better soon too, I think I’m just depressed at the thought of possibly dealing with this illness a couple of times a year!

Hi. You sound just like me. It all passed, slowly though. And yes to the hunger, I've put weight on, mainly through not being active for three weeks but also eating more than usual (tried to avoid sugary things but sometimes I just needed it!). I've been left with a chesty cough, which has caused intermittent breathlessness. Make sure you drink lots and rest rest rest.

DuckaLucka · 02/04/2022 19:59

I’m on day 4 too and completely understand the anxiety. I was crying today because I’ve found not being able to do normal stuff and isolating really hard. And then I feel pathetic being like that when people are in hospital with it. It’s a very emotional time.

I am trying to be kind to myself, taking vitamins, drinking lots and eating well as much as possible. Luckily I’ve been craving healthy foods, today all I wanted for dinner was sweet potato wedges!

Clairelucyr · 02/04/2022 20:09

Hi yes I had this too with a heavy chest and rapid heart beat- it did pass for me and hope will for you too

buckleten · 02/04/2022 20:09

This sounds like me! I had nausea and sore throat to start with, but I was never actually sick and eating really helped. Then for about a week I had the pressure on the top of my chest and a dry rather than sore throat. The nausea got better but then I had racing heartbeat here and there just out of the blue. Now I am mostly better but I still have the odd heart flutter (or that's what it feels like) 2.5 weeks later..

Trype · 02/04/2022 20:18

Thanks all, to top it all off we are meant to be going to New York on 13th April. If I manage to pass the for to fly and don’t pass it to the rest of the family I have no idea whether I’ll be actually well enough to cope with such a trip 😞

I’m on day 6 and feeling tons better
Still bit short of breath but I’m asthmatic anyway
Hoping LFT negative tomorrow and Monday as I’m hosting a big multi agency work event on Tuesday which has been planned months ago

Trype · 02/04/2022 21:04

Good luck with the negative LFT. I tested today (day 4) and am still showing a strong line which is to be expected (I’m just impatient)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/04/2022 22:26

I’m on day 15 and still feeling unwell with a horrible chesty cough. I also can’t taste or smell and have wanted to eat constantly because I get no satisfaction from food.

I am still showing an absolute blazing red line on lateral flow tests too.

DuckaLucka · 03/04/2022 00:21

@Judystilldreamsofhorses I’m the same when I lose my sense of taste with colds etc. haven’t lost it yet with covid, I read only 10% get it with omicron. I hope you’re better soon, I’m dreading this potentially stretching out, finding it a very lonely experience so far.

CisMyArse · 03/04/2022 00:25

I only tested positive yesterday afternoon but have had nausea and vertigo since Monday afternoon. I've had 24hrs of fatigue and a bad chest/heavy cough but am feeling a lot better already.

I've been warned not to be too optimistic but I feel so much better than this time yesterday.

CisMyArse · 03/04/2022 00:26

Taste is fine but I'm smelling cigarette smoke/burnt toast quite a lot.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/04/2022 00:44

@DuckaLucka I thought Omicron was supposed to be like a cold. Trust me to get it badly!

Interestingly my DP tested negative throughout (PCR and LF) but has had cold-y symptoms and been really tired. He was away for work when I think I was probably most contagious. He’s slept in the spare room, mainly because I have been coughing and sweaty, but otherwise we have not distanced from one another at home.

DuckaLucka · 03/04/2022 00:53

@Judystilldreamsofhorses luck if the draw it seems. Some are finding that, others are finding it horrendous. It just adds to the anxiety doesn’t it. I was listening to Tim Spector’s latest earlier and he said assume it’s covid even if negative. There’s a 15% false negative rate with omicron on lft.

TypicaIMe · 03/04/2022 07:13

I've just tested negative on Friday after being positive for three weeks (but I was ill for a week before finally testing positive), and some of my symptoms were exactly as you describe OP. The most unsettling thing for me was the burning chest and the spaced out feeling. At one point my hearing went completely in my right ear for a few days which was horrible, and didn't help with the feelings of disorientation one bit. Also yy to feeling absolutely ravenous constantly despite nausea! My post lockdown weight loss was completely banjaxed. It's the first time I've been unwell and actually put on weight!

It was my fifth time with Covid and was absolutely the worst. Quadruple jabbed.

DuckaLucka · 03/04/2022 08:56

5th! @TypicaIMe do you work in a high risk environment?

I can’t imagine going through this 5 times. My day 5 test is even more positive than the first one, I’m done now.

TypicaIMe · 03/04/2022 17:10

5th! *@TypicaIMe* do you work in a high risk environment?

I can’t imagine going through this 5 times. My day 5 test is even more positive than the first one, I’m done now.

I have an autoimmune condition and I'm immunosuppressed, so I catch everything going - including covid! DD is a teacher which doesn't help (she lives at home and we can't isolate from each other).

I've been quite ill with it twice (first in spring 2020, then the most recent bout). But I've also had it asymptomatically and very mildly. There's no rhyme or reason to it, apparently.

BastardtheCat · 03/04/2022 19:38

Has anyone else had vertigo?
This is grim.

Numbbumb · 03/04/2022 20:45

Yes I am very dizzy and lightheaded. Day 5 and it’s lessening. Hope you feel better soon

TypicaIMe · 03/04/2022 20:50

Yes, we all had vertigo here.

Jules912 · 03/04/2022 20:52

Yes, I had vertigo when I had it. Not as bad as when I had an ear infection a while back and couldn't get out of bed but still pretty grim. Three weeks on I still get a bit dizzy if I do too much.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 03/04/2022 20:54

I felt like this the first time. Had it again two months later and was absolutely fine. Just rest and try to relax. I know it's hard though.

SummerySumner · 03/04/2022 21:53

Yes, off balance and wobbly, light headed feeling. Vertigo less frequent than that though.

airrrrAIRRRRiELLLL · 03/04/2022 22:21

@CisMyArse

Taste is fine but I'm smelling cigarette smoke/burnt toast quite a lot.
Gosh, this is me. Had this for a few days before positive test on Friday. It's not so overpowering now the other symptoms have taken over but it was so weird.
