Tonsilitis or covid, faint lft

daphnedoo12 · 16/03/2022 15:16

I had a GP appt today because of tonsilitis, I have white pus all over my very swollen tonsils, horrendous flu symptoms and a temperature.

GP asked me to do an lft but she did prescribe antibiotics too.

I have this result, I've been for a PCR but won't know the results yet.

I'm off work (student nurse on placement) they want me in ASAP (I'm not even included in the staffing numbers)

I'm really unwell looking after two kids under 2 with chickenpox.

Has anyone had tonsilitis that turned out to be covid? I'm not even coughing, just swollen glands and major flu symptoms

Tonsilitis or covid, faint lft

I can see a faint line but see what pcr says
Hope you feel better soon

Emilyh1986 · 16/03/2022 15:25

I can definitely see a line. My throat is sore with covid, but not tonsilitis

drawingpad · 16/03/2022 15:25

That's a positive covid test if it was taken within the time limit.

daphnedoo12 · 16/03/2022 15:25

Thank you, I'm leaning towards tonsilitis but the faint positive has worried me

I felt the same when I tested positive on a pcr, awful throat like tonsillitis (had tonsils out as a teenager) and temp. lft wasn’t positive for two days after the PCR. Hope you feel better soon

toomuchlaundry · 16/03/2022 15:28

Looks positive to me, sorry

IKnowYouDontTurnTheLightOn · 16/03/2022 15:30

Horrendous sore throat was my first symptom 😢

BigButtons · 16/03/2022 15:32

Horrendous sore throat with my first few days of covid too.

daphnedoo12 · 16/03/2022 15:39

I had a temperature of 39.6 and horrendous aches and pains, I haven't got a cough though just really sore to swallow and white puss all over my tonsils

That's a positive Covid test so I'd say it's very likely you have Covid.

Tonsillitis wouldn't give you a positive LFT result.

Hopefully you will get your PCR test result soon. I hope you feel better soon.

BergamotandLime · 16/03/2022 15:46

Definitely Covid +ve. I have Covid currently. No cough but a v sore throat.

ReadyToMoveIt · 16/03/2022 15:49

You could have both at the same time. That’s a positive Covid test, though.

nearlyspringyay · 16/03/2022 16:13

Positive. You could have both. Hope you feel better soon.

daphnedoo12 · 16/03/2022 16:31

Hoping it's not both at the same time, I feel so rubbish

I'm not long over covid and my main symptoms were a sore throat and blocked nose. That looks positive to me!

carefullycourageous · 16/03/2022 16:36

Your test is positive.

TheUsualShitshow · 16/03/2022 16:37

That's a positive test. When I had Covid I had the sorest throat I've ever experienced (and I got my tonsils removed as an adult because I had such awful recurring tonsilitis).

toomuchlaundry · 16/03/2022 18:20

Have you got anyone who can look after you and your DC?

hynt090603 · 16/03/2022 18:41

Are you sure they children definitely have chickenpox? I know quite a few children who have had a similar rash with covid. Just a thought.

daphnedoo12 · 16/03/2022 18:47

I did a PCR on them, both negative. I haven't done them since. Considering the chickenpox is only on DS's face it might be worth me testing him again. Or depending on my PCR results if I'm positive just assuming he has it too

I bet that lft will have a stronger line if you do it again the the morning. That's how mine started, faint line & sore throat.

Alicenwonderland · 16/03/2022 21:26

I had Covid and tonsillitis together, wasn't fun times! I also had tonsillitis in the summer when I had another infection so it seems that's my weakness now. I hope you feel better soon

daphnedoo12 · 17/03/2022 07:35

Still no result, still getting a faint positive

DH also has Covid just now, his worst and main symptom is the sorest throat he has ever had, and he had his tonsils out during childhood.

daphnedoo12 · 22/03/2022 20:02

PCR negative
