Has anyone actually tested negative on day 5 /6?

I started to get symptoms last Thursday and tested positive on Friday,

I was hoping I'd be ok to go back to work today but still testing positive, I'm hearing people still test positive a month later! I'm so confused with all the rules now, I mean I know we don't have to test at all anymore but I'm trying to do the right thing and self isolate etc etc.
I know we can get back to normal after day 5 if negative, but is this ever possible?

It was day 7 for me (9 days after first symptoms)

beattieedny · 16/03/2022 09:02

I've known a few kids who have but no adults

Frosty1000 · 16/03/2022 09:05

My DS is day 5 today and he's still got a line, it's getting fainter so it'll be soon I think. I'm a bit behind him but I've not a hope as mine is like a black Sharpie.

thelittlestrhino · 16/03/2022 09:16

I did; strong positive days 1-3, weaker on 4 and negative 5, 6, 7. I had very few symptoms though and was only testing for work.

Gufo · 16/03/2022 09:24

Not me! Tested positive last Thursday and still positive yesterday. Same for the DDs.

Emelene · 16/03/2022 09:28

I currently have Covid. Occupational health at my NHS Trust told me hardly anyone tests negative at Day 5/6 and they don’t want me back in the building until day 10…

BergamotandLime · 16/03/2022 09:30

Not here. Day six and black blind still! Can't go back to work until day 11 anyway. Shall enjoy a few more days on the sofa!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 16/03/2022 09:31

DC2 tested negative on days 6 and 7, after the faintest positive on day 5. She was only very mildly symptomatic in the first place. It was also her second infection in 4.5 months, so maybe more immunity? Who knows.

fancyfrogs · 16/03/2022 09:39

My dad was negative on day 6. DH on day 7
Me, my DM, DS and my grandparents were all still positive on day 10, and all had very mild symptoms! It's frustrating. Though I was back at work, I did test out of curiosity and was still positive by day 13. Didn't test any more after that!

Jules912 · 16/03/2022 09:41

Only people I know who have are children or those who have it for the second time.
My DS still has a faint line on day 7, I'm still only day 4 but feel worse than ever so not very hopeful I'll be negative tomorrow.

heinztomatosoup · 16/03/2022 09:56

Similar experience here, I am day 10 today and for the first time today the line is almost imperceptible (but still there!). I am coming out of isolation tomorrow regardless.

gettingolderbutcooler · 16/03/2022 09:57

My son did.

dicdicnurse · 16/03/2022 10:12

I don't know if any adults who have, just a couple of DDs class mates who were largely asymptomatic.
We all had it in jan and all ended up doing 10 days. Mine were still positive on day 20.

fartooanxiousfortoday · 16/03/2022 15:29

I am currently day 5 having tested positive kart Friday and tested negative today - hoping tomorrow will show negative and I can get out of isolation. First time I’ve had it, triple vaxed I tested on day 4 too and was negative but I’ve had no symptoms at all and only found out I had it through a LFT for work followed by a PCR. I’m counting my blessings.

BigButtons · 16/03/2022 15:36

I will do my day 5 test tomorrow . I am still feeling shite so not very hopeful. What happens if you are still positive on day 5 and 6? Do you have to wait until day 10 and then can go back to work if well enough- even if lft says positive?

AssignedBlobbyAtBirth · 16/03/2022 15:37

Adult DC has just tested negative on day 4

derekthe1adyhamster · 16/03/2022 15:38

My DH was negative yesterday, day 5, and today. But he wasn't very ill with it

fartooanxiousfortoday · 16/03/2022 15:40

@derekthe1adyhamster is he going to stop isolating now he’s had d5 and 6 negative ? I’m negative big nervous about going out now !

I was the exact same and very luckily had no serious symptoms
audweb · 16/03/2022 15:41

Tested neg day six and seven, so that meant I got free in Scotland. Most of my friends with it were still testing positive up to day ten. I think that probably means I had it before I knew I had it.

Cleothecat75 · 16/03/2022 15:51

Day 5 and 6 positive, day 7 and 8 negative.

Dc day 5 and 6 (Today) are still positive.

I don’t know anyone recently who has tested negative on day 5. A few people over Christmas/early January when the rule was first introduced, but no one recently. Lots of people still being positive on day 10, but then able to leave isolation anyway as they’ve done their 10 days.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 16/03/2022 18:16

Dd (aged 14) was negative by day 7 in the Summer.

theamericanbream · 16/03/2022 18:49

Negative on day six.

Child negative on day five and six.

DockOTheBay · 17/03/2022 05:01

Have you been testing him daily while isolating? What a waste of resources.
Jules912 · 17/03/2022 08:45

DH did today 5 days from positive test, though I think he's really day 6 as was complaining of a scratchy throat the day before.
My day 5 test was so dark you could see it from space😂
