So I just did two positive lft tests today and have come home from work to start isolation (company policy)
There's just me and DH at home, no kids, I'm a bit embarrassed to admit I don't really know what to do to try and keep DH safe, ie, should I be wiping everything down constantly, sleeping on the sofa, not cooking for us both??
Anyone else been in this position and if so, what did you do?

I tested positive this morning after waking up feeling like I had tonsillitis. I have four other people in my house, all adults. Annoyed cos I've been so careful as have two vulnerable employees at work. Working from home it is then.

SickAndTiredAgain · 03/03/2022 14:33

We didn’t do anything differently when I had it. DH didn’t catch it, and DD didn’t get any symptoms (she’s 2 and not the easiest to do an LFT on, so she may have had it asymptomatically but I don’t know).

EducatingArti · 03/03/2022 14:35

@worriedatthemoment

I had it in jan and ds18 we did isolate as my other son and dh were going out to work and mixing I had hardly any symptoms though and just did a pcr as ds18 had it and I never felt right I never ever tested positive on a LFT though only the PCR , DS tested positive on both
This was me over Christmas -very mild, no real big symptoms, only showed up on PCR. All lateral flows negative. This time more symptoms, very strong LFT positives! I'm assuming the first one was delta so more protection via vaccine and this one is Omicron.

@KezzabellaB Thank you. I've been contacted about possibly being in a trial for antivirals so that could be interesting.

DespairingHomeowner · 03/03/2022 16:49

As your DH already has symptoms, I think isolating from each other will cause you needless stress

When my family have tried it, the other person has become positive a couple of days later anyway

If your DH did not have symptoms it might be worth a try, but in this case sounds like he will test positive over coming days

Hope you both feel better soon

RhinestoneCowgirl · 03/03/2022 16:54

I'm mainly feeling like I have a cold @KezzabellaB, but as someone else said I'm not often ill so I'm going to take the official advice and rest for the next couple of days. DH is WFH and has just finished for the day, I can hear him in the kitchen with the DC making a start on tea, lovely!

Best wishes to all those with the lurgy...

KezzabellaB · 03/03/2022 16:58

Thanks to everyone for your comments and points of view. DH is now home from work and on balance, we've decided he's likely to catch it anyway, so will carry on with usual sleeping arrangements etc! Hope everyone is better soon 😊😊

I have had three days of having cold symptoms with it but now fatigue has really hit. But it comes and goes. I thought I was getting close to it going as on day 5.

ancientgran · 03/03/2022 17:35

We're having takeaway tonight, I can't drag myself into the kitchen and DH is disabled and I don't think I could face what he could come up with. Ubereats it is, I can't get well if I don't eat.

KezzabellaB · 03/03/2022 17:58

DH has already said he'll cook tea. Wonders will never cease!!! GrinGrin

Hi OP,
I'm currently on Day 4. The whole house (family of 4)has it. Youngest DD tested positive on Sunday, and the rest of us Monday.

If not done so already, and if you have them, I would suggest you get your DH to test on the throat and nasal swabs. I was still testing negative on nasal only after a strong positive on the throat ones.

thegcatsmother · 03/03/2022 18:01

I tested positive on Tuesday. Had felt grotty for a couple of days prior, but assumed I had an ear infection or a cold. Felt like death warmed up by the time I left the office Tuesday evening, and am off sick, as I feel horrid. I sound like a seal when I cough; I ache; I keep going hot and cold and I can't taste anything. It's one way to lose weight I suppose.

Got dh to drive me for a PCR today. As I have an auto immune disease, I might ring the doctors in the morning to see what they advise. In the meantime, paracetamol and tea. Ds tested negative, but has cold symptoms; dh won't test as he thinks it's too mild to bother with now.

elliesmummy19 · 03/03/2022 18:05

I slept in the same bed as my husband and we sat together on the sofa to watch TV etc. We weren't careful at all. Neither him or our two year old got Covid when I had it.

ThisTownAintBigEnoughForBoth · 03/03/2022 18:14

You've got covid and your DH has the same symptoms as you but he's gone to work? Is that right? I'd say he's almost certainly got it and is just not showing up on the LFT... he'll be infecting his colleagues.

This Town - to be honest, the only reason I did an lft myself was because we're required to as part of company policy. I certainly didn't do one because I thought I had covid. We've both got mild cold symptoms, not the usual covid symptoms.
DH is off work now and going to recommend he does a PCR while he's off

Exactly how I've been. Am on day 6, feeling exhausted 😩

I felt really ill on the Monday but tested negative so carried on, then tested positive on the Tuesday! I’ve finally tested negative today day 10! I was really ill with it felt like flu (which I’d just gotten over) my throat was swollen, had a fever body aches and bad cold symptoms, about 4/5 days in I developed a really chesty cough, started to feel mostly better about day 7 and just have the cough now! Hubby slept on the sofa and I spent the whole time in my room (wearing a mask to the bathroom and using anti bac wipes) away from him and the kids. I didn’t want him or the kids to feel that poorly to be honest and at least not having it at the same time meant that there was still one of us able to cook/clean/sort the kids etc. None of them caught it from me thank god! When I spoke to my work (retail) they said I can come in if I want to but don’t if I don’t feel well enough.
Hope you feel better soon!

JamMakingWannaBe · 03/03/2022 18:39

Government's COVID symptoms:
Temperature
Continuous cough
Loss of taste or smell

I have NONE of those.

I started with a scratchy throat and a runny nose!

CatsForLife · 03/03/2022 19:05

@JamMakingWannaBe I am the same. None of those symptoms. I started with a tickly nose then what felt like a cold. Just as I thought it was going and I’d got off lightly… wham. In comes the fatigue, sore eyes and general feeling like crap.

Funny that, I felt like someone had punched me in the eye yesterday. Well I can only hope and pray I get off lightly, but by the sounds of it I might not!!!! Shock

Hi OP, I'm currently on Day 4.

I had 3 negative lateral flows. Two were just the nasal swabs but the third one was throat and nasal. I just felt so ill I decided to do a PCR and was a mixture when I got the positive, obviously I felt suspicious or I wouldn't have done the test but the 3 negatives made me feel like I was imagining it. So I didn't know if I should be relieved (I'm not imagining things) or worried that I'd got it.

I'm day 4 and feel terrible, I ache and feel like I've been kicked black and blue, my throat is raw from coughing and my ribs feel like they are broken. I've been feverish all day, heating off and windows wide open and I was still hot. I had a fan on all night last night to keep me cool. I wish I could completely rest but with DH being disabled I can't completely switch off.

The only good thing is I haven't lost my sense of smell or taste and had take away and enjoyed it.

TalkToTheHand123 · 03/03/2022 19:41

It was 2 x xmases ago when I had it. I've been around a few people who have had it since so quite pleased but confused how I don't seem to have had it again.

WinniePig · 03/03/2022 20:08

I’m in COVID club too! Kids tested positive on Sunday and I did today. DH has cold symptoms so suspect he’s next. We’ve kept kids off school and DH and I are WFH. It never occurred to me to try and stop the spread; I assumed it was inevitable that we would all catch it and so we are just carrying on as normal (but not going out).

I just have mild cold symptoms and am hoping it stays that way… It sounds odd but am almost relieved to have tested positive as it just seemed inevitable and we had held out so long!

EducatingArti · 03/03/2022 20:57

Suddenly got very swollen glands in throat 5 days after the start of symptoms. No idea why that has started up now!
