Covid and schools.. new rules?

Just wondered has anyone had any guidance from their children's school about the new rules and isolation. We haven't and I think it's a bit odd

Although it’s half term and training day on Monday so I suspect we find out soon.

We've been back a week as our half term was week before. Just think it's a bit crazy there's been no guidance about it .

Half term here but our head emailed us all immediately. Basically they want 5 days off with a positive test and only return with 2 negative tests. No changes then except people probably won't be testing when we have to pay.

There aren’t any new rules - DfE guidance remains the same.

Ours sent something out saying they're following the guidance and therefore at least 5 days off following a positive test, negative PCR if symptoms and that they'd review it again next term when testing is no longer free. This is for primary so they never expected asymptomatic testing anyway.

DfE guidelines are super clear, staff and kids with covid stay home for at least 5 days then 2 negative LFT. Those with symptoms need to isolate.

So no changes

We have but have already been back a week. No change. However I know that a neighbouring secondary (which actually has a lot of Covid cases atm) has said to come to school unless you feel ill!

Our school wants everyone to follow the guidance but we already have a few parents refusing and brought their children back on Thursday positive.

Our school let us know that nothing has changed. 5 full days off after a positive test and can return after two negative tests 24 hours apart on days 6/7. If not, back after ten days.

DfE guidance remains the same. Children with covid should not be coming to school until they have two negative tests after day 5. Children with symptoms should not be coming to school.

Thanx everyone.. ours are still at primary and no real guidance.. I'd be happy to keep mine off for the full 5 days but without any email about it parents will just do what they like which I find a bit concerning. Although our school is so hot on keeping attendance high they prob don't care 😡

There’s other guidance say chicken pox where kids stay home, so why are people ignoring the guidance on Covid?

How do you know they’re positive, and what did SLT do?

We've had no communication from primary or secondary schools about this yet, and DC go back tomorrow after half term.

DC at secondary was LFT testing twice a week for school previously but I presume this won't continue unless school are providing the tests.

Unless we hear otherwise we'll just move to doing LFT if we have suspect symptoms or have been a very close contact (someone in family for example).

We have regular contact with vulnerable people, as does almost everyone I suspect, and wouldn't feel comfortable potentially being close to them when we have Covid.

This. Both my dc's schools communicated this on Friday via email. No changes expected until April 1st (which is the last day of term for us).

Ds 12 tested pos Friday sore throat , cough, temp and aches. We’ve had no new guidance from school and our school are also super hot on attendance.
I’ve emailed pcr result and expect his absence to be covered until he has 2 negative from day 5 .
I would have no time for a school who would encourage sending pos kids in before day 5 at the very least . Same applies for d&v and chicken pox ect .
I didn’t hear anything in governments new guidelines where it said just carry on as normal now when positive.

DfE guidance still stands, although with the general free-for-all that most people are going to take from the relaxation of all restrictions, it would be wise for schools to reiterate the DfE guidance. I should imagine many parents will just send their DC in when they have symptoms as they’ll think it doesn’t matter anymore, hence schools need to send reminders out.

DS tested positive on Friday. Emailed school and had a reply last night saying as there’s no need to self isolate any more that if he’s feeling well enough he can go in today. Given that we’ve been giving him a fairly wide berth at home all weekend if feels a bit counterintuitive for him to go to school….I think he may well not be feeling well enough this morning….

I won't be testing regardless of symptoms. DS rarely gets ill and when he had Covid he had no symptoms so I doubt I'll need to.

Letter last night. In-line with new government rules all testing, masks and isolation scrapped. Thank the Lord!

But ... as with any sickness, don't be a dick.
