We all have Covid. I am on day 7 now and my test is still blaring positive :(
I was wondering if anyone actually gets out before the 10 days.

I'll let you know on Tues! DH tested +ve on Weds, but had mild cold symptoms for 2 days before that. Apart from an occasional cough, he is just fine. Will be interesting to see what his day 5 test says. He hasn't tested since his +ve as it's just a waste of plastic.

Seeline · 19/02/2022 11:10

My 17 yo did, but looking back, I think she probably started 2 days earlier than we originally thought.

I'm currently day 9 and still very positive and still feeling pretty rough. I wouldn't be going anywhere even if testing negative.

Ilovechocolatetoomuch · 19/02/2022 11:36

My husband is asymptomatic so it would be nice if we didn’t have to be stuck in all half term with a negative child and well but positive hubby.

I reckon it’s mostly people with little to no symptoms who haven’t tested until they’re quite a few days in who get out that early.
I was watching out for symptoms after DH tested positive last Wednesday. I developed first symptoms on Sunday and tested positive on Tuesday (very faint). The test line is super strong today on Day 6 so I doubt I’ll be getting out before my 10 days are up.

Anecdotally only people who have had a previous infection have tested negative on day 5/6. This was true in my house (1/4 had previously been positive and was the only one to release on day 6) and true in the school I work in.

SirBale · 19/02/2022 11:41

I’m still testing strongly with no symptoms since Monday and am now on day 9 Confused

ColettesEarrings · 19/02/2022 11:53

Currently day nine and my line is still as black as pitch! 😭

Bunn5 · 19/02/2022 13:14

I tested negative on day 6 & 7. The line on my day 5 was faint.

Jmaho · 19/02/2022 13:15

My daughter had very feint line on day 5 and was then negative day 6 and 7. But she had a very mild case and had had it before less than 3 months ago where she was far worse and ill for 2 weeks and still testing positive day 15!

Pennox · 19/02/2022 13:59

I tested negative day 5 and 6 but was too I’ll to go anywhere

Cornettoninja · 19/02/2022 18:09

I’ve only known two people test negative on day five and they were under 10 (6 and 8). One was completely asymptomatic and the other was a bit rough for a few days. Both, for various reasons had, tested negatively within a short period before testing positive, asymptomatic the day before and the symptomatic a few hours before retesting because they started feeling ill.

From my clearly robust sample (sarcasm obviously!) I think it’s mostly kids clearing the virus quickly.

MrsR87 · 19/02/2022 18:10

I had it three weeks ago and didn’t start testing negative until day nine. Until then my line was still incredibly dark…it just sort of vanished overnight!

Dd was negative by day 5&6 recently but it was her second time having covid in a short space of time so may have cleared it quicker. The first time she was still positive on day 9/10 despite being totally asymptomatic - the second time she had mild symptoms. Symptoms don't seem to be an indicator. I had symptoms for the whole 10 days and beyond but was negative by day 7/8.

Cookerhood · 19/02/2022 20:03

DD's boyfriend tested negative on day 6 at Christmas.

PipsM · 19/02/2022 20:05

I tested negative on day 5. I felt bloody awful still though. I had covid previously at Xmas 2020 as well.

Nat6999 · 19/02/2022 20:18

Ds has, he tested negative from day 4, hasn't really been ill.

Mostlyjustrunning · 19/02/2022 20:19

Ds (11) is still strongly positive day 6. Was wondering if he should even bother testing tomorrow as it was such a dark positive so interesting to hear it can disappear overnight.

ginsparkles · 19/02/2022 20:23

I got out on Day 9, DH tested positive right through until day 10 . DD is day 6 today and has the faintest line I have ever seen, she'll be negative tomorrow for sure.

Mostlyjustrunning · 19/02/2022 20:25

This is my son’s day 6 test after a couple of minutes (they’re the 30 min ones too). Any chance of a negative tomorrow 🤣

Did anyone get out day 5-6
Beth13579 · 19/02/2022 20:26

I was still positive 14days after my first test!

AyeEee123 · 19/02/2022 20:31

My dad was negative day 5&6. My son was negative day 2!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 19/02/2022 20:34

Yes I did. But it was the second time I'd had it. It was last month, first time was November. DD's first time and she got out day 7

Wnkingawalrus · 19/02/2022 20:47

Me, OH and DC all tested negative by day 5.

For me, it could have been day 6 but definitely no later than that as I had a negative PCR 48 hours before my positive LF.

OH never tested positive on a LF at any point.

Both of us were pretty much asymptomatic, slightly sore throat for about half a day, that was all.

DC had some symptoms for about 48 hours, fever with cold symptoms.

I know other asymptomatic people who were still testing positive at day 10 and others who felt rotten for 3-4 days then suddenly negative by about day 6.

Mostlyjustrunning · 19/02/2022 21:09

@Beth13579

I was still positive 14days after my first test!
