To start I am not anti vax at all! Had 2 x AZ and a Pfizer, all fine

2 weeks ago I had another Pfizer and a smear test on the same day. Spotted for the whole week. This week my period is due, I'm now 4 days late and have been spotting grim black brown for this week. Consistently have a 25/26 day cycle normally and now on day 30 no period

Do I do anything about it?! Smear test fine, recent swabs all fine Confused I don't know what's going on but I'm a bit sick of the spotting every single day

Probably related to the jab and should be back to normal soon. You should report it on the yellow card anyhow.

EU are now finally investigating period disorders from the jabs.

I had a similar experience after my fourth vaccine (X2 AZ x2 Pfizer) and then I had the mother of all heavy periods. Stopped a week ago finally, so 🤞 that's it! I think it was the vaccine too as spotting started basically the next day

stitchmaker85 · 12/02/2022 16:44

All the vaccines have messed up my periods terribly. After the booster I'm now on a 20 day cycle with about 3/4 days of brown spotting at either end. I'm only getting 10-14 days a month with nothing at all and it's really starting to annoy me.
I've always been very bang on 28 day cycle with a 4/5 day period before the vaccines.

Makes me think twice about having another booster, I'm just praying they go back to normal.

Loz2467 · 31/03/2022 10:17

Does anyone have any updates on this?

I’m worried to get my booster as I’m TTC and also have spotting before my periods for a good 5-7 days before flow. I’m sick of it now. I had a loss in February. Normal cycles April, May and June then since my vaccine in July all this spotting has appeared. It makes me down each month but I know I can’t change it :( it’s been 8 months now since my second vaccine and I’m still suffering with the spotting.

Any advice?

WithASpider · 31/03/2022 10:22

DD2 had her 2nd Jab in December when she was on her period, then caught covid. She hasn't had a period since. GP is advising waiting a bit longer before investigation because she's only 16. No chance of pregnancy!

Need to sort out the yellow card for her.

Witchesbelazy · 31/03/2022 10:26

My menstrual cycle still isnt right a year later if ttc I would avoid the booster personally.

Loz2467 · 31/03/2022 11:03

@WithASpider ah I’m hoping it returns soon for her! I have a friend who hasn’t had a period since last august after her vaccine.

@Witchesbelazy yeah I agree I’m going to have to hold off on the booster as these cycles are causing me anxieties. I can’t believe how long it’s taking for them to regulate back to “normal”. Have yours got any better at all? Mine are just up and down. Better some months than others but overall not great. Spotting and lighter flow.

Lilaclavenders · 31/03/2022 11:05

My periods stopped for about 3 months after each vaccine...

PAFMO · 31/03/2022 11:06

Ask your GPs.
Lots of research being done into why vaccines affect the cycle. It's thought that most vaccines do this, but because they are invariably administered pre-puberty there haven't been a massive number of reports about it (obvs)

Lilaclavenders · 31/03/2022 11:13

The flu vaccine has never affected my periods...

But the covid one has delayed my periods for several months.

Loz2467 · 31/03/2022 11:25

I’ve been to the GP so many times :( I’ve had constant blood tests. Internal scans etc and nothing flagged at all. Thyroid checked . Hormones checked. They are regular in terms of the amount of weeks but it’s just the spotting which could be stopping implantation and pregnant. It’s so hard when TTC after a loss but throwing vaccines into the mix too.

Yes I agree pre puberty so no findings :( then the vaccines trialed on elderly also.

MrOllivander · 31/03/2022 11:36

Still spotting here
4th Vaccine was end of January and I get spotting now for 3-5 days before period. Which would be ok but my periods are 8 days before all this so I'm spending 2 weeks a month bleeding Hmm

Loz2467 · 31/03/2022 12:10

@MrOllivander ahhh that’s so frustrating for you! I’m the same. Spotting for 5-7 days even before period but then my period is only lasting 3 days which it used to always be 5 days. I feel it’s too light to even conceive with. I spot quite soon after ovulation which I’m sure is impacting implantation even if anything had happened.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 31/03/2022 14:34

I spoke to my gp as was getting spotting after my period and he said it wasn't linked to any Covid vaccines and ran bloods. Not heard anything back but spotting didn't happen last month. Now period is late 🤷🏻‍♀️

Loz2467 · 31/03/2022 15:01

@teaandtoastwithmarmite thank you for the update. I think spotting after a period can be quite common. Good that it didn’t happen this month for you.

I’ve had so many blood tests and internal scans and they can’t find the reason and it’s strange my spotting only started the month of the vaccine when I’ve never had it before. I even had normal cycles after a second trimester miscarriage. I’m so confused :(

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 31/03/2022 18:13

So I called my gp surgery this afternoon and apparently the gp does want to speak to me about my bloods. They can only apologise that no one called. Naturally I'm really worried now as to what they found.

Loz2467 · 12/06/2022 09:38

@teaandtoastwithmarmite did you get any further with this? I’m still spotting for anything from 7 days before my period is due. I’ve had a hysterscopy last month to check polyps etc and the said everything was good and now I’ve had the surgery and rejuvenated things I shouldn’t get the spotting but low and behold it’s appeared again! This is my first cycle since the surgery. So frustrating as I paid a lot of money and he was sure it would fix it.

pinklavenders · 12/06/2022 16:28

After each vaccine my periods were about 2-3 months late!

motogirl · 12/06/2022 16:37

Mine have only returned in the last couple of months! I had hardly any bleeding, just spotting since March last year (had vaccine in late March, late June and November. I had my hormones checked, I'm getting on a bit but not menopausal yet

Loz2467 · 23/06/2022 17:35

Hi Ladies,

is there any update for anyone on here? I’m still getting 7 days of brown spotting before my period arrives. I’m TTC and it’s so frustrating! I’ve had a hyterscopy done and endometrial biopsy and it has all come back fine. The last thing for me to try this cycle is progesterone support after ovulation to see if that stops the spotting. It just seems strange it started the month of my vaccine and is still happening each month now

xx

bloodynewusernameagain · 23/06/2022 18:38

I had v weird, slightly late, super heavy periods for a couple of months after all of my vaccines (2x Az, 1xpf). They mostly returned to normal subsequently. Caught Covid in Jan. 3 weeks later period late thought it was having had covid. Was actually pregnant (wasn't even trying just had covid-brain and fucked up my ovulation window timings). Now 25 weeks and all totally normal pregnancy throughout (apart from the nuclear meltdown when I found out!)

So data from this sample size of 1: vaccines fucked my periods but didn't have any effect on fertility.

I haven't had any issues with the vaccines but I did used to spot for several days before my period and assumed it was due to progesterone issues. However, for a few months before starting to TTC (both times) I started taking Seven Seas Trying for a Baby supplement and the spotting just stopped. Obviously doesn't override medical advice but just my experience!

Loz2467 · 23/06/2022 18:48

@bloodynewusernameagain ah this is great to know! Thank you! Mine have been similar in flow if not lighter but then literally a whole week of brown spotting before hand. I’ve had 2 PF. One last July and one at the end of August. It was just it started so I just can’t fathom it out? If the progesterone pessaries stop the spotting then I know it’s that causing it. If not I’m kinda stumped! Getting onto 15 months TTC now and it’s draining after getting pregnant easily twice before.

Loz2467 · 23/06/2022 18:57

@gojetting that’s really helpful thank you! I’ve tried all sorts of medications over the last 15 months but not that one in particular. I’ll try that next month after I know what the progesterone does. My 7 dpo reads have been 61 n mol and 37 n mol and then this cycle it was only 21 and that blood test was done on the day of the spotting. So unless it’s dropping too quickly but seems so odd it’s only been since the covid vaccine month? I’m gonna be having this progesterone when on holiday and if I start to spot I just know it’s not progesterone or polyps or anything and I wouldn’t even know what to test / check next as I would of ruled them majority of things out. Already panicked about brown spotting again!

bloodynewusernameagain · 23/06/2022 19:56

@Loz2467 oh apologies, didn't mean to be so flippant over getting pregnant, I hadn't realised you were already ttc. Best of luck to you 🍀xx
