Has anyone actually been able to leave isolation early?

I'm on my last day of isolation, doing the whole 10 days because I was still testing positive yesterday. Of all the adults who I know who have had it recently (I'm a teacher, lots of friends are teachers or have school age DC, I know a lot of people who have just had Covid), none have managed to leave isolation early. Kids seems a bit different, which is something I suppose). Was this all just a ruse for happy headlines? It feels like it was never very likely that adults would be getting negative LFTs after 6 days, but changing the guidelines was just done to give us hope. Hope that has been dashed darn it!

My DD at day 6
Me day 7

rambleonplease · 09/02/2022 15:32

Yep day 7 I was out. My daughter day 8

Orchid876 · 09/02/2022 15:45

No LFTs, that you can do from 5 to be released from day 6 if you get two negatives. Seems it's a bit mixed, but I'm still convinced it's uncommon to get negatives before day 9.

On another Covid point, did anyone get dizziness? If so, when did it go away? I'm supposed to be going back to work tomorrow, luckily I can walk there so don't have to drive dizzy, but it does still feel a bit odd.

I was negative on day 3, now day 5 and have tested negative x 3 so guess I can go out in theory (although still feel quite rubbish and have DC off as well). I only got a faint positive on day 0 though (despite heavy cold symptoms). I just wonder whether some people don’t have high viral loads?

Tallesttiptoes · 09/02/2022 15:55

Also yes to dizziness and nausea. I feel like I need to drink loads of water to feel ok.

Just realised couldn’t actually go out til tomorrow (day 6). No plans to anyway.

Thank you! I didn't even realise 😖

I think the people testing negative on day 5/6/7 are mainly people with poor eye sight. DH claims all his tests are negative, but I can see a faint line.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 09/02/2022 20:32

I was negative on day 5/6/7 and free to leave the house but was actually too unwell to do so for a further 3 weeks. DP had to do the full 10 days as he was positive throughout.

There was definitely no faint line on mine. We both looked at them 1000 times as he was so jealous Grin

DontKeepTheFaith · 09/02/2022 20:35

Ds1 tested negative day 5 and 6. He’s at university so no way I could check but I know he released himself after 2 negative results on consecutive days☺️

feellikeanalien · 09/02/2022 20:35

I'm on day 7 and still strong positive showing. DD is back to school tomorrow still testing positive after 10 days.

DD was poorly for a couple of days and I haven't been bad at all.

Just going stir crazy as I will have been in for 14 days as DD can't stay at home by herself.

MargosKaftan · 09/02/2022 20:45

Only ones I know who've got out early have been kids who were asymptomatic. Seems adults are finding it harder as they'd only planned for 5 days.

Heatherjayne1972 · 09/02/2022 23:13

My son
Tested positive on lft Monday night
Tuesday pcr came back positive
No symptoms at all
Wednesday to the following Saturday all negative lft
Monday he was back at school

No one else in the family caught it

Whathefisgoingon · 10/02/2022 07:58

This is day 5 and I’ve just done my first LFT which is stronger than my initial ones on day 0!

hopeishere · 10/02/2022 08:11

@Fordian

Are these PCR tests?
No these will be lateral flows.
