Has anyone actually been able to leave isolation early?

I'm on my last day of isolation, doing the whole 10 days because I was still testing positive yesterday. Of all the adults who I know who have had it recently (I'm a teacher, lots of friends are teachers or have school age DC, I know a lot of people who have just had Covid), none have managed to leave isolation early. Kids seems a bit different, which is something I suppose). Was this all just a ruse for happy headlines? It feels like it was never very likely that adults would be getting negative LFTs after 6 days, but changing the guidelines was just done to give us hope. Hope that has been dashed darn it!

I've had strongly positive tests up to and beyond the end of my ten days, but I do know a few people who have left isolation early.

I expect it was. And might let kids or asymptomatic people out a bit early.

Lazypuppy · 09/02/2022 09:58

Yep i tested negative on day 5 and 6 so out of isolation early, ny husband was the same as were most of our friends who have had it

RichTeaRichTea · 09/02/2022 09:59

I had negatives day seven and day eight

DrAddisonForbesMontgomery · 09/02/2022 10:01

I didn't, but was testing every day as a household contact so I tested positive right at the start of infection. I suspect anyone who tests negative and leaves isolation early has had it for a few days and not known. Well that's my theory anyway Grin

CagneyNYPD1 · 09/02/2022 10:01

DS13 tested negative Day 6 and 7. Many of his friends were similar. It has been rife in his school with lots of teachers having to do the full 10 days.

indie123 · 09/02/2022 10:07

I was able to leave isolation on day 8

ZippyZap · 09/02/2022 10:11

Took us the full 10 days, all my kids tested positive right up to day 10 too which makes me not believe the kids back to school on day 6 and 7 if I'm honest!

Sillysop92 · 09/02/2022 10:16

I’m on Day 4 I tested negative this morning but I only had a faint line on Day 0. I was daily testing as a close contact in the work place. Hoping for 2 more negs tomorrow and Friday and I’ll be free!!

MrsBungle · 09/02/2022 10:18

I’m on day 9 and the line is stronger than ever Hmm DS9 though tested negative on days 5 and 6 and was released.

Pixies74 · 09/02/2022 10:22

All the kids I know of (and it's a lot as it has just gone round my DD's class) seem to have tested negative early (including my DD which I am very grateful of!). Most adults however haven't. I'm on day 7 and still a very strong line.

girlsyearapart · 09/02/2022 10:26

Of the three cases I know in ds age 10 class him and one other tested negative to be able to end isolation but the third is still testing positive on day 10

LuciusMeowFoy · 09/02/2022 10:33

I tested positive right up to day 11/12. DS7 was testing negative by day 2! So he got to leave isolation early. He was pretty much asymptomatic though and we wouldn’t have known he was positive had he not been a close contact.

littlepeas · 09/02/2022 10:38

My ds was negative by day 5 recently. I was back in October too, but still had to do the full 10 days then.

ZippyZap · 09/02/2022 10:40

What tests are those using who release early?
Just realised we've been using the throat and nose ones so maybe they pick it up easier and that's why our tests are so strong. I do have a box of flow flex so be interesting to see if my sons test negative on that tomorrow after quite a strong line today

Indoorcamping · 09/02/2022 10:42

I tested negative on days 6 & 7, as did my mum. Poor DP had to do the whole 10 though. We all had pretty mild symptoms though so maybe that's part of it

Wishineverchangedmyname · 09/02/2022 10:43

My son tried a flowflex on day 7 and 8, still a strong positive. He tested positive till day 10 despite only having symptoms on day 0

Inneedofaholiday · 09/02/2022 10:43

Lots of early negatives in our primary class too. My DS was day 5&6. Frustratingly, day 8&9 for me!

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 09/02/2022 10:43

I'm on my last day of isolation today, had a strong positive yesterday but a negative today.

My boss (who I likely caught it from) tested negative early and went back to work but regretted it as they were exhausted. They contacted me to take the full isolation period if necessary regardless of negatives, I suppose just because you are negative doesn't mean you are better.

mulberrybag5 · 09/02/2022 11:00

Yep negative 6 and 7

Fordian · 09/02/2022 14:10

What test? PCR?

SatinHeart · 09/02/2022 14:15

I had negatives on days 9 and 10. So got out a whole 24 hours early.

Meltinthemiddle · 09/02/2022 14:27

I'm day 7 and using flow flew. Definitely getting fainter. I bet I test negative tomorrow which although is good I'm feeling really anxious about going back to work especially for one day. I've not left the house since last Wednesday so my social/work anxiety is really high right now 😭

ifonly4 · 09/02/2022 14:31

I'm on day 8, still a definite positive. DH on day 9, has had two positives but lines were slightly lighter.

Fordian · 09/02/2022 14:32

Are these PCR tests?
