This is what mil said at the weekend.

I knew she was antivax but omg.

I have been and still am very unwell with Covid. Also CEV.

It was the kids birthday so she called around with a card. She told me she had symptoms, was asking about mine to compare. She said she had very similar symptoms to me about a week or so ago. I asked her if she had done an lft, she said no, doesn’t believe in testing it’s all a load of rubbish. Didn’t understand what a lft or pcr was.

She happily said she had been to the supermarket etc. Still having regular contact with sil and her kids.

I just can’t believe some people could be so selfish/stupid.

This from an intelligent woman, Wtaf.

Doesn’t sound intelligent to me.
She’s visiting you, who she knows to be CEV, as well as people in the shop etc who may also be vulnerable.
She sounds stupid and actively malicious.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 08/02/2022 09:30

Wilful ignorance.

Workinghardeveryday · 08/02/2022 09:31

She thinks we are all stupid!!!

The government have pulled the wool over our eyes, death rates not true etc.....

OP posts:
FlapsInTheWind · 08/02/2022 09:34

Are you going to do anything about this in the future OP?

Are you worried her unbelievably thick attitude might be picked up by the DC?

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 08/02/2022 09:36

Isnt isolation coming to an end in march ?? So people will knowingly go to work if feeling well and carrying about their business anyway . So what would a test do anyway , it would just confirm , or not , that you've got covid .
I know a whole shop team that had covid , all self isolated apart from one who told everyone he was negative
He wasn't, he later admitted he was positive but couldnt afford to go on SSP
That's what's going to happen end of march , people would rather go to work if feeling well because they cant afford to be off and would rather not test for fear of knowing they have it

Tell her that her local hospital is crying out for domestic assistants, or better still Porter for the morgue 🙂
ChoccyJules · 08/02/2022 09:44

Oh no, don’t inflict her on the dead, they’ve done their time!

Workinghardeveryday · 08/02/2022 09:46

@FlapsInTheWind we don’t see much of her and when we have on the rare occasion it’s been outside and distanced. I openly tell the kids her views, they have lost respect for her

@Isntisironic1 I should tell her that!!!

@HaveANiceFuckingDay yeah, I agree. People won’t test anymore but it’s her attitude to it all I find intolerance. Happily putting others lives at risk because she thinks it’s rubbish.

Sil is the same, brain washed by her. My nephew goes to the same school as my kids, his year group has closed more than once. They don’t test him either, never have

One can choose not to agree with testing, but saying she doesn’t believe in it doesn’t make her that intelligent to be fair. It’s something that clearly exists and is a big part of some people’s daily routine nowadays.

At my workplace we’re currently on a 6 PCR’s per week regime. If you said you didn’t believe in it, you’d be sent home on unpaid leave. As has been the case for a couple of my colleagues Grin

MrsSkylerWhite · 08/02/2022 09:47

Well, no. That’s from an ignorant woman.

Whilst your mil Aristide is luckily unusual, i for one agree with not testing children. They've done enough now. In Scotland and wales they have more restrictions that adults. I support stopping testing children and getting them back to normal now.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 08/02/2022 09:58

Where the hell did Aestride come from??!

Itsnotover · 08/02/2022 21:38

It’s quite funny how the number of people now saying they don’t believe covid exists at all have pretty much vanished because most antivaxxers have caught it.

I have seen antivaxxers still adamant they are right after being hospitalised with covid.

You can’t fix stupid.

SantaClawsServiette · 08/02/2022 22:18

Does she mean she doesn't think it works very well? Or that it's an effective management tool? Something else?

devildeepbluesea · 08/02/2022 22:19

You know what they say. There’s no arguing with stupid - so don’t.

Well this was released recently with no attention given. Total exclusive covid deaths under 24 is 8.

TickerTocker · 09/02/2022 00:18

Family of 4 here, 2 tested positive and followed isolation rules, 1 is poorly no Covid symptoms and consistently tested negative, 1 has slight symptoms, tested positive but refuses to follow rules and goes about life as normal but takes precautions

User0458832 · 09/02/2022 06:20

What were here symptoms though, if it was just cold symptoms I wouldn't test, I would test though if i had any of the 3 official symptoms on the government website.

Xiaoxiong · 09/02/2022 06:37

@RobRuncorn fuck off and take your homophobia with you. Reported.

So varied I had no symptoms my husband and daughter had the same symptoms as a common cold but still Covid positive
FTEngineerM · 09/02/2022 06:44

To be fair, it is a bit like the BBC asking you if you have a TV licence before watching. You can just click ‘yes’, you can just make the test negative. Nobody will ever know..

Unless they’re done by professionals in clinic there is absolutely no way of knowing their accuracy other than trust.

Also when you ‘have’ to do one is sort of stupid; if I’m going to the GP I have to do a lft and then upload the results MYSELF to the nhs website. If I’m taking my son, where I get equally close in proximity to the GP I don’t have to🤷🏽‍♀️

The second you trust general public to do a test that may mean they effectively lock themselves in prison in their own home for X amount of days is the second that it isn’t going to be accurate.

camperqueen54 · 09/02/2022 06:45

Just say 'and I don't believe In untested people visiting me or my children, thanks, bye'

Twillow · 09/02/2022 06:47

This is why we have had so many deaths in the UK. Yes, it has now mutated into something very mild for most, but not all, but equally could have and still might mutate into something far worse. I am not proud of us as a nation. So many ignorant selfish people. Our prime minister among them Angry
