This has probably been asked tons of times before, but i scanned through and couldn't see a recent thread.
Has anyone actually tested negative on day 5 & 6?
Does the line gradually get feinter or is it here today gone tomorrow?

DD1 symptoms (in hindsight) last thurs, tested positive fri - very strong, line came up in less than 2 mins.
Felt fine since saturday, but day 5 test today was still strong positive, almost immediate.
She's desperate to play basketball tournament on Thurs but it seems so unlikely....
tbh i'm more focussed on DD2 and I staying negative but she had it just pre christmas so missed all her parties etc and is year 6 so last ones and is so bored with me working from home.

Any positive stories to give me hope?

Negative number 2! I'm freeeeeeeeee!

For anybody who wants to compare symptoms/test results, I was thus:

Day 0 - Headache, sore throat, coldy, generally feeling rubbish, negative
Day 3 - Sore throat, cough, faint positive
Day 5 - Remains of a sore throat - still have that now, strong positive
Day 6 - Strong positive
Day 7 - Weak positive
Day 8 - Negative
Day 9 - Negative

Day 6 for DD and she had a negative today!

Wondering if mine will go the same way. I think my cold symptoms started wed but was still testing negative up to fri night (and still going in to work as expected with a negative result). Faint positive sat morning so will be off this week but not sure what to a actually count as day one. Headaches on Saturday and the cough started last night but if there were no rules to isolate I would feel well enough to carry on life almost as normal (maybe after a lemsip). Not going to bother testing again for a few days.

Can I just check, day 6 was negative, assuming day 7 is negative, is DD allowed out straight after the negative test on day 7 or is it day 8? I had assumed straight after the test but MiL has made me doubt now.

Worriesandwobbles · 06/02/2022 11:21

My understanding was straight away (so if negative morning of day 6 you could return to work or school) most adults I know have been showing positive past day 10 but not so much with kids.

Freedom day for my 3. Oldest tested negative on day 4,5 then 6, so back to school he went. Other 2 tested negative on day 9 then day 6.
Only having sumpoms though for 24hrs.

Dd is day 10 - still positive but officially isolation is up at midnight & the rest of us have avoided it.
Fingers & toes crossed she doesn't catch it again. It's still rife in the school.
