Drywhitefruitycidergin · 01/02/2022 23:20

This has probably been asked tons of times before, but i scanned through and couldn't see a recent thread.
Has anyone actually tested negative on day 5 & 6?
Does the line gradually get feinter or is it here today gone tomorrow?

DD1 symptoms (in hindsight) last thurs, tested positive fri - very strong, line came up in less than 2 mins.
Felt fine since saturday, but day 5 test today was still strong positive, almost immediate.
She's desperate to play basketball tournament on Thurs but it seems so unlikely....
tbh i'm more focussed on DD2 and I staying negative but she had it just pre christmas so missed all her parties etc and is year 6 so last ones and is so bored with me working from home.

Any positive stories to give me hope?

I'm day 6 and, well, no chance of me getting out of this early. The test line is darker than the control line! I feel a whole lot better though.

Makinglists · 02/02/2022 18:39

Day 6 here still positive only had mild symptoms - feel fine. Ds2 full of snot tested positive on a pcr but never tested positive on lft. He's had day 5 and 6 negatives so going back to school tomorrow. DH snotty, coughing, not well - negative on lft and a pcr. I have been the least ill but still stuck at home. Seems a lottery!!

itbereet · 02/02/2022 18:46

DS tested negative on day 5 and 6 so off he went to school today. He was absolutely delighted 😃 DD tested positive on day 10 and DH has had his first negative test today on day 8.

It's my day 5 tomorrow. I'm still feeling ill but I'm hoping that this means the virus is speedily making it's way out of my system so I'll be negative. Probably being a bit optimistic 😉

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 03/02/2022 07:15

Positive again this morning Sad
Day 6 here. I think it might be slightly fainter than yesterday's, but that might be my imagination. Still pretty dark. It also maybe didn't come up quite so quickly - last time I saw it come up almost as soon as the liquid moved up the test strip. Today I watched the liquid move past where the test line is and nothing came up. Then I came back after 5 minutes and it was there.

LivingNextDoorToNorma · 03/02/2022 10:18

@GetTheGoodLookingGuy well that’s my theory out of the window then! 😂
My initial positive was insanely strong, came up as the liquid moved up the test, before the control line. I actually did another test, because I was so surprised, (I was only testing because I do it twice a week with my dc) but the second test was just as strong. I kept expecting to feel ill, but some how I dodged it. Between that and testing negative so quickly, it sounds like I’ve been incredibly lucky. Hope you get your negative soon!

Day 7 here and Dd refusing to test - "there's no point it's just gonna be positive" and then I won't be able to go to school til Monday anyway.
Question - dd2 & I have done our 7 days daily testing & are still negative per T&T rules BUT surely if Dd1 is still positive we can still catch it or???

I absolutely get where she's coming from! I almost think it would have been easier to deal with when it was just a flat 10 days isolation, so you didn't have to keep waking up and thinking, "I wonder if today is the day I'll test negative and then tomorrow I can be out of here!" and then getting disappointed.

I would think you probably could still catch it after your 7 days, but DD1's viral load is likely to be lower now, so if you were going to catch it from her you probably would have already, if that makes any sense? So yes it's still possible, but it's getting more and more unlikely as time goes on. My mum and brother have to test until Sunday, but I think if they were going to be positive, they would be by now. Accecdotelly, families at school where someone has been positive and family members have gone on to catch it from them, they've caught it by day 4/5. Although there was one family where one sibling had it, came out of isolation (I don't know if it was early release from testing, or Day 10) and then the other sibling tested positive.

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 04/02/2022 07:18

How are we doing today? I'm on Day 7, and have a very very faint positive today - progress!

MrsAliceRichards · 04/02/2022 07:23

Had my negative finally yesterday.....on day 10. Dd was the same, not til day 10. Older dd is day 10 today so be interested to see if she's negative again. I'm still feeling a bit tired but tbh I didn't rest enough. I kept working as I'm working from home and minding the girls as dh had to go to work and was negative the whole time.

mattcockhand · 04/02/2022 07:34

@GetTheGoodLookingGuy

I started symptoms on Friday but didn't test positive until Monday (very faint positive). Today is Day 5 but my test was a strong positive after only a couple of minutes. Very annoying - I was hoping to be back to work tomorrow. I work in a school and we're very short staffed at the moment, so it seems rediculous for me to be sitting at home feeling completely fine (have cold symptoms, but not bad enough to stop me going in if it wasn't covid).
I feel exactly EXACTLY the same. and am very very cross about it. really expected to be negative this morning, especially as I feel fine. I have a slight blockedup nose but thats all, & under normal circs would be living life normally 😢😢😢
mattcockhand · 04/02/2022 07:42

i am on day 5, but still positve. gutted as i feel fine, just a slight blocked up nose. feeling very very cross. i don't feel ill at all, just a bit tired.

Feenie · 04/02/2022 07:49

Day 0, day 5, day 6 and day 7 all strong positives - feel ok, just wiped.

usernotfound0000 · 04/02/2022 08:26

DD is day 4 and still a strong positive, was hoping it might have faded a bit ahead of the day 5 test tomorrow but not looking like it will happen.

SallyAnn32 · 04/02/2022 09:47

Day 6 and a strong positive here. Feel dreadful. I'm getting worse as the week goes on! I hoped to be back at work today 😔

Mepop · 04/02/2022 10:36

Update from me. Day 11 here for DD and it is the first negative test. She no longer had to isolate as 10 days was up but we wanted to get a clear negative before visiting grandparents etc. Day 10 was faint positive. Still very noticeable but took about 5 mins to see properly. All other tests were instant strong positives. She only ever did nasal LFDs.

BlueEyesUltimateDragon · 04/02/2022 10:39

Day 7 for me today. Day 5 was positive but a bit fainter than Day 0. Day 6 was fainter than Day 5. Day 7 (today) was as strong and quick to show as Day 0!!! Whyyyyyy?!

SpongebobsPants · 04/02/2022 11:05

I'm day 8 now and still positive. Slightly lighter line, but still very clear. DS(9yo) is also day 8. He had his first negative yesterday. No test yet today though, as he's still asleep! He's been sleeping a lot, which I'm pleased about as rest is goodSmile

Perrymenopausal · 04/02/2022 11:07

I’m on day 7 feeling fine, but isolating from my family because Dd is CEV.

Lines been getting fainter, then today strong as the first day.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 04/02/2022 20:37

Dd still positive day 8 - saw one of the mums earlier and loads more in the class got it now too. Feeling ok and line a bit fainter so nearly there.....Dd2 & I still negative

Got really cross (to myself) coz a parent in dd2's year who said her child tested +'ve on Tuesday and doesn't even have another child was on the school run just keeping her friend company....how stupid are people??

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 05/02/2022 08:00

Got my first negative today! Day 8. So hopefully tomorrow's is negative too and then I can go OUTSIDE!!!!!

Passing on some negative energy (as opposed to positive energy!) to those who are waiting on their negatives!

Museumland · 05/02/2022 08:08

I ended up having to do the full 10 days I am afraid. The line never really changed (meaning it wasn't stronger or fainter each day) it just too longer to get to a positive result as the days went on. I live on my own and the isolation drove me crazy and I felt down and anxious. Physically, I barely felt as though I had a cold.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 05/02/2022 08:14

Yippee @getthegoodlookingguy - fingers crossed for you.
Dd still in bed & won't test til later anyway.

usernotfound0000 · 05/02/2022 12:28

DD had a feint positive today and took a bit longer to come up so I'm feeling more confident about tomorrow. Day 5 today.

SallyAnn32 · 05/02/2022 12:34

A very very faint positive for me today. Had to put the torch on my phone to see it after 30 minutes. I might be really naughty and class if as a negative. Is that bad? It's day 7 for me and the first faint/negative.

Feenie · 05/02/2022 19:49

First negative Day 9! V excited that I may be able to go to the supermarket tomorrow 😆
