Did you catch covid from your dh/partner?

Dh currently has covid mildly. He started w symptoms on Thursday and he got a pos test result back on Sat am and decamped to the spare room.
I’m trying to distance as much as poss from him by sitting opposite ends of 2 metre kitchen table, other side of living room with window open etc and Teen DS is keeping well away as he really doesn’t want it (it’d be a right pita if he got it), but he’s been double jabbed. Dh and I both boosted in Dec.
So did you catch it from your spouse and if so were you isolating or not?

Symptoms started here on Wednesday and i tested positive Thursday pm
DH symptoms sat and tested positive this morning.

We aren't isolating at all. So far both kids ok. We are hoping if they get it, they catch it asap for childcare reasons

My husband didn't despite the rest of the house having it and no distancing. None of us we very ill though.

ILookAtTheFloor · 31/01/2022 08:26

Didn't get it, and made no attempt not to.

I did stop testing after 7 days, so I guess it's possible I was completely asymptomatic but I doubt it.

JoyfulDay · 31/01/2022 08:29

I had omicron and no one else in the house got it. Dp stayed in the same bed as me and in my most contagious period (when I didn't realise I had it), we had sex and he still didn't get it!

rambleonplease · 31/01/2022 08:34

I think of some of these replies are regarding previous variants it will not be applicable to omricon which is likely what your DH has.

Depend on a few thing, are you triple vaccinated? If so was your last jab within the last 10 weeks? If so you may well be lucky abs steer clear. Also other factors that you will not know play a part, such as a recent cold causes by another form of coronavirus can actually protect people from Covid.

I work clinically in A&E had Covid right at the start of the pandemic. Have been in regular contact with either lots of patients with Covid or a few for 2 years and not got it. Then my daughter got it...:so did I and her brother and 18 kids in her class!!! I had my 3rd booster 12 weeks ago. So just out of the protective window. Her dad didn't get it, but he had his 3rd booster 8 weeks ago.

Hope you manage to steer clear!!

BookGinnyisbetter · 31/01/2022 09:43

Yes I caught it from him. Probably because he was an idiot and used my tooth brush and didn't tell me!!!

AnnaSW1 · 31/01/2022 12:21

No I didn't and we shared a bed thoughout

mindutopia · 31/01/2022 12:26

I didn't. Dh had it in early December. We didn't really isolate from each other, other than he did sleep separately, and I retreated to the spare room. That's largely because I didn't want his coughing to keep me up at night and we co-sleep some nights with our 3 year old, so was trying to mostly keep ds from also catching it. Our dd did get it. But ds and I stayed negative despite all being stuck in the house together all week (school and nursery requested we self-isolate them at home as household contacts if we could). I had received my booster at that point, but ds obviously unvaccinated. Interestingly, ds has had 6 close contacts in the past week at nursery (5 of those being staff who were involved in his care) and he is still negative.

Sunsetsupernova · 31/01/2022 12:29

We did similar to you when I had it with DP sleeping on the sofa as well and he was fine throughout.
Then 2 weeks later he caught it from someone at work. Considering he works either outside or in a giant sports hall where social distancing is natural, it just seems bizarre that he didn’t get it from me as I’m sure I had it for at least a few days before my positive test and we spent a lot of time very close to each other and in the car for hours the day before.

Thanks! We are both boosted, but 8 weeks ago now at start of Dec. DS only had 2 jabs (last was on 23 Dec). He’s being a lot more cautious as he really doesn’t want to get it!!!

I’m amazed at all these posters in such close contact, sex etc & not catching it!!
I’m quite enjoying having the bed to myself for a few days though - obv if I get it while he’s still infectious he can return!!

@SantaMonicaPier

DH didn't catch it from me and I've had it once confirmed, and once right at the beginning suspected before testing was available. We didn't isolate me from him on either occasion.
Same here on every count
SmallestInTheClass · 31/01/2022 21:34

No, shared a bed and didn't make an effort to distance. Did hold off on hugs and kisses for a few days.

PuzzledObserver · 31/01/2022 21:38

I did at the very end of 2020, i.e. before vaccines.

Based on timeline of his exposure (at work immediately before Christmas) I must have been infected before he knew he had it. My symptoms started 2 days after his. So there did t seem much point inisolating.

frenchiemummy92 · 31/01/2022 23:59

I didn't and neither did our two DDs.

We didn't isolate and this was before any jabs where done. In fact me and both DDs have never had a proper positive test results despite having numerous close contacts especially over the past few weeks.

PickAChew · 01/02/2022 00:00

I'll tell you in a day or two.
