Did you catch covid from your dh/partner?

Dh currently has covid mildly. He started w symptoms on Thursday and he got a pos test result back on Sat am and decamped to the spare room.
I’m trying to distance as much as poss from him by sitting opposite ends of 2 metre kitchen table, other side of living room with window open etc and Teen DS is keeping well away as he really doesn’t want it (it’d be a right pita if he got it), but he’s been double jabbed. Dh and I both boosted in Dec.
So did you catch it from your spouse and if so were you isolating or not?

I didn’t and we didn’t isolate

ElinorOliphant · 30/01/2022 22:18

DD had covid in Dec…. None of us caught it. She had symptoms (of a cold) for days before LFT turned positive so no isolating at all.

DS had positive LFT on Tuesday, I had positive LFT on Thursday and DP today. Again,we haven’t isolated as not really possible in our house.

It’s definitely been worse than a heavy cold for me but not as bad as flu. Pretty shit though!

Groovee · 30/01/2022 22:18

Dd, Dh, DD's fiancé and ds all had it and I didn't catch it x

Watto1 · 30/01/2022 22:21

Dh didn’t catch it from me and we shared a bed throughout. We did both face outwards though! He was double vaccinated and boosted.

tigerlilymochalatte · 30/01/2022 22:21

Yes, unfortunately 10 days apart. Though we had avoided spreading it but eventually we all caught it.

We tried to increase anti bac of surfaces and doorhandles etc and also hand washing but we have a 1 year old who sneezes in your face regularly so no avoiding it really!

Hopefully you have more luck!

Hoolihan · 30/01/2022 22:25

No I didn't get it from him even though he was pretty grotty with it and we didn't isolate.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 30/01/2022 22:25

Husband caught it from asymptomatic son, husband is asymptomatic but was feeling cold so tested and it was a strong positive on Friday. I've just tested a very faint positive this morning. We all feel totally fine. I've not really felt a point to isolate. If I was going to get covid, this is the variant I'd want so have accepted that and just figured it was time to get it and build up my immunity. We are not vaccinated and I'm not bothered at all.

LittleMissA · 30/01/2022 22:29

My DD and DH didn't catch it when I had it and we didn't make any attempt to isolate from each other. We kind of assumed we all had it but turned out it was just me. This was over a month ago now so they def didn't get it from me.

SantaMonicaPier · 30/01/2022 22:33

DH didn't catch it from me and I've had it once confirmed, and once right at the beginning suspected before testing was available. We didn't isolate me from him on either occasion.

Abcdefyouandyourmum · 30/01/2022 22:37

I didn’t catch it from DH, but we stayed in different rooms 99% of the time.

dicdicnurse · 30/01/2022 22:40

DH is positive this evening, I'm day 17 and DD is day 8 so I'm blaming her for giving it to him! No one has isolated from each other in the house.

LifeOfBriony · 30/01/2022 22:40

Yes, I caught it from DH. We both had what we thought were bad colds, but DH tested positive on the Thursday, then I tested positive on the Sunday. I slept on the sofa the first night after DH's positive test but wasn't very comfortable, assumed I would catch it anyway so didn't bother to isolate after that. Fortunately both of us were not too unwell.

ShrillSiren · 30/01/2022 22:56

Back in December I was positive along with my 3 kids. We didn't isolate from each other and my youngest has a bad habit of sneezing in your face. DH remained negative throughout, even with sharing a bed. I assume we all had the delta variant.
Just tonight my husband has tested positive with what I assume is Omicron on an LFT. The rest of us are all negative so far but again, we won't be isolating. Fingers crossed we won't all get it again.

JustDanceAddict · 31/01/2022 07:06

Thanks all. It does seem to be complete ‘luck’ if you get it or not whether or not the person has stayed away. We’ll take sensible precautions, mainly cos I don’t particularly want to get it as I’m more wary of long-covid! I possibly had it pre/testing and it was a 3 days in bed job with high temp. No-one else caught it but dh did vacate the bed!
It would be v annoying for ds to get it as he’s at such a crucial point in his studies.
Even if you get omincron, you can get it agsin or another variant if it comes along so I no way see this as ‘getting it out of the way’, maybe for a few months!!

No, but he isolated and we’re in separate beds anyway.

Caramel181 · 31/01/2022 07:08

Yes I caught it within a few days, but we were carrying on as normal because we didn't know he had it at first as he was testing negative.

CovidCorvid · 31/01/2022 07:17

I had it, carried on as normal. Dh never got it.

Copasetic · 31/01/2022 07:25

No I didnt. He caught it in March 2020 and didn’t come with the listed symptoms, testing not available etc and we carried on as normal. No one in our house caught it. Later my 10 year old got it, we didn’t isolate him from us and no one else got it. Before Christmas my eldest daughter had it, made a real effort to stay away from husband, and he also didn’t get it. My sister also had it in March 2020 and her husband didn’t. In fact I don’t really know many incidents of partners/family members passing it on to each other when I think about it.

No I did not and he didn't particularly distance
Mammma91 · 31/01/2022 07:31

I did Sad DP tested positive 21st December, I was negative. PCR came back positive on Christmas eve. DS managed to avoid it though! I felt absolutely fine, DP felt a bit run down.

Echofallen · 31/01/2022 07:31

No, and we dtd the day before he got his positive lateral flow! Once he got his positive PCR and mine was negative I stayed out of his way a bit but no separate rooms. NHS person DH spoke to thought that I maybe didn't have enough virus cells in me to show a positive result. I wish I'd taken the antibody test now.

PinkPlantCase · 31/01/2022 07:31

I think it makes a difference whether people are talking about pre omicron or not.

Before omicron household transmission seemed to be 50/50, now from what I’ve seen anecdotally it seems much higher.

In my house my DH did catch it off me, we have a baby and decided that either of us distancing from him wouldn’t be possible so we didn’t distance from each other either.

PinkPlantCase · 31/01/2022 07:32

Should add both triple jabbed

NightmareSlashDelightful · 31/01/2022 07:55

I had it over Christmas but DH didn’t get it (and I’m 99% sure I didn’t get it from him). We didn’t isolate, distance or anything different really. But then I only had mild symptoms for one day so I wasn’t presenting as ill in that sense.

mummyof2boys30 · 31/01/2022 08:03

Symptoms started here on Wednesday and i tested positive Thursday pm
DH symptoms sat and tested positive this morning.

We aren't isolating at all. So far both kids ok. We are hoping if they get it, they catch it asap for childcare reasons
