When did your asymptomatic kids test negative. Frustrating isolation.

Hi DD tested positive on Sunday.

Woke with a headache that had gone withing an hour with no calpol etc. Absolutely no symptoms since whatsoever.

Tested for the headache and we routinely do a Sunday morning one ready for school. Otherwise would have no idea.

Day 5 today. Still positive.

Did your kids test neg early to be able to leave isolation early?
It's frustrating as she's missing school and her friends. We live in a flat so no outside access

I know it's to stop the spread before anyone moans. I'm just venting out of boredom.

My son is on Day 6 and his line is still really strong. He’s completely symptomatic.

We’ve got tickets to go to an event tomorrow that he’s been looking forward to for months. He was absolutely devastated when we said he wouldn’t be able to go. He started crying and it broke my heart.

He asked me if he could still go if he promised not to eat all day so he didn’t have to open his mouth Sad

It was awful and we are all so upset for him.

It’s made 1000 times worse because he’s absolutely fine health wise and it seems so unfair.

I bloody hate Covid.

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for him and it’s just not fair.

We are day 9. DD is finally negative. I've looked at threat again well over 30mins and there is a faint positive. I'm not classing it!

Completely asymptomatic. No one else has tested positive in the house. We are BORED!

I did a sneaky early one on day 4 just to give me an idea. It was already neg. He was the last one to test pos in our household, and the only one with zero symptoms. He was then neg day 5 and 6 too.

I gave up testing on day 9 because it was still positive and she was allowed out after day 10 anyway. I'm also fed up with isolation. Fed up with the people I know who deliberately aren't testing and carrying as normal despite having the same 'cold' symptoms that I have and knowingly been in very close contact with covid cases. I swing from thinking they are complete arseholes to actually maybe they have a point and wtf am I doing putting my life on hold for something that hasn't really bothered any of us.

12 y/o was negative day 5 and 6. 8 y/o was negative day 12. My other, symptomatic kids tested negative on days 6 and 12. So there's absolutely no rhyme or reason to it.

say no. Say you won't ruin any other kids weeks like that. It's really hard - we were in the same position last week - but you just run the risk of ruining lots and lots of kids' chances of going to school/doing fun stuff.

Yes I'd have to put my foot down and say no. Not worth the risk to others.

Decided to accept that she'll probably be in for the 10 days 😑 but least I can escape to work weds.

Day 10 for my dd. Was only mildly off colour for the first two days.

I would take him. There are 7 off in DD's class, its everywhere, and unless you are going to live like a hermit, probably inevitable you will get it. I don't see the harm. We can't live in fear for ever more.

Mine were asymptomatic and tested negative after 7 days. I never tested positive but felt rough the whole time (and still feel a bit rough now don't know if it's related)

I know I'll get flamed for this, but in your situation I'd go anyway... Covid is so prevalent and needs to be treated as part of life now. So your DS passes it on... so what, we'll all get this thing! Anyone who's particularly vulnerable and concerned wouldn't be at this anyway.

Children are going to get it anyway... This isn't some rare illness - it's everywhere and rife. If your son didn't pass it on, someone else will guaranteed at some point in the r coming months.

If people were that worried about getting Covid they wouldn't be going to such an event anyway.

It's time we stop being martyrs for no good reason. You're achieving nothing but misery for your family in the interests of possibly preventing someone from getting something they're going to get anyway - think about it, it's madness.

You're willing to ruin what you're describing as a "once in a lifetime" opportunity for your son, just because he may possibly pass something on (very unlikely as it's been a week and he's asymptomatic) that virtually everyone's going to get anyway?

Seriously, you'll look back on your decision as insane in the months and years to come (isolation is likely to be scrapped anyway in the months ahead) in the same way (most
of us) we look back and think it was insane that we couldn't sit on a park bench back in March 2020.

Stop being a martyr, especially when your forcing your son to be one!
