How many of you are testing with lateral flows still?

Just wondered how many people are still doing weekly or twice weekly testing with lateral flows if your asymptomatic. Not including people who have to for work.
We are due to go abroad in a few months and if everyone feels well and is ok I don't know if I will be doing lateral flows in the weeks beforehand?
How does everyone else feel about this sort of situation if your due to go abroad or away on holiday will you be testing up until you go if you all feel well and risk a potential positive that you would otherwise be non the wiser to?

Not routinely but yes before events or visiting vulnerable friends/relatives.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/01/2022 16:07

Yes twice a week and before meeting up with friends. Tbh everyone I know is.

QuestionsorComments · 24/01/2022 16:07

I test when I know I've had a few days of heavy mixing and before I'll be seeing extra people.

Lazypuppy · 24/01/2022 16:08

Nope we never test asymptomatically, and i certainly wouldn't before going away unless i felt ill

WeatherwaxOn · 24/01/2022 16:08

Still resting here. I mix with vulnerable people pretty frequently. Dc has developed a horrible cough in the last 24h so we have just gone to do a pcr despite negative lft.

We had a holiday back in October and tested every other day (and the morning of departure) in the 10 days before going.

DrDreReturns · 24/01/2022 16:09

My kids do them twice a week for school.
I can't wait for the whole testing malarkey to be abolished!

Wellbythebloodyhell · 24/01/2022 16:10

I do it for work but I wouldn't be testing otherwise and I don't know anyone who does test regularly where it's not a work requirement

SarahJessicaParker3 · 24/01/2022 16:13

I do it for work too, but tbf, it isn't as if anyone is checking we're doing it! Not sure if I'd be doing it if I wasn't working with lots of other people. I think I would before a holiday tbh. Would rather know than travel with covid, for selfish reasons alone

SpottyStripyDuvet · 24/01/2022 16:15

3 times a week at the moment because school has the highest number of cases ever.

bumblefeline · 24/01/2022 16:17

Nope don't use them. Maybe if I had a job when I had too I would.

DH had a positive PCR and the LFT did not show positive until four days after.

LaBelleSausage · 24/01/2022 16:20

Tuesday and Saturday. Before the kids see my vulnerable mum.

They are in nursery Wednesday-Friday and see their dad on a Sunday and so I like the peace of mind

Akire · 24/01/2022 16:22

Only if been in busy or close contact places like doctors or dentist then meeting up inside with one someone who’s vulnerable.

kittykarate · 24/01/2022 16:24

I test before I meet vulnerable people (in-laws, grandmother) and also once a week before my ice skating lesson as my coach prefers people to do this as you can be face to face, breathing in each others air.

Bert2e · 24/01/2022 16:25

Yup - work in a school.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 24/01/2022 16:25

I do them sporadically I suppose. Maybe once or twice a week? DH and I like go to restaurants a lot so I tend to do one a few hours before we go out and then another three days later. It's probably a bit pointless because I'm double jabbed and boosted, and had covid over Christmas, but I've gotten into the habit now.

I asked for a new box while I was in the pharmacist's this morning for something else and she gave me four boxes. 'Need to get rid of these before the next lot comes, I can't give them away!' she said. (That's what passes for an LFT in-joke, I suppose. You probably had to be there...)

DaisyWaldron · 24/01/2022 16:30

Twice a week. Covid is rife at the DC's school, and I don't want to restrict them too much in what they do so the risks if our household being affected are reasonably high, but several of my work colleagues are either vulnerable themselves or are carers for extremely vulnerable people, so I don't want to risk infecting them.

Wakemeuuuup · 24/01/2022 16:32

We're still doing them at esst twice a week. Ds does 3 times a week as he plays a team sport

Waxonwaxoff0 · 24/01/2022 16:33

Stopped doing them last August unless I'm a known close contact.

FoamBurst · 24/01/2022 16:44

Nope only ever done one myself.
Ds doesn't do them at school either anymore.
DH works randomly when they have a bee in their bonnet make them do one, maybe once a month?

PPCD · 24/01/2022 16:47

Yes still testing twice a week.

Iggly · 24/01/2022 16:48

Yes we still test.

It’s hardly a big deal and is advised.

Butteryflakycrust83 · 24/01/2022 16:50

Yes I am still testing before I leave for work every day. I take several different forms of public transport and our office require it before entry.

ClaudiaWankleman · 24/01/2022 16:54

In your position I wouldn't be doing them.

I don't regularly test - there's no need to.

Iggly · 24/01/2022 16:55

In your case OP, I would only test closer to the time and depending on what the testing regime is wherever you’re going.

While the uk is more lax in its testing requirements, other countries may not be.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 24/01/2022 16:58

Yes, I test, not least because I currently see a fair few doctors, nurses and other HCPs.

Why would I put them at unnecessary risk of (a) catching covid, and (b) having to be off work and impacting other patients?
