If you had Swine Flu, have you had Covid

I was really ill with Swine Flu in 2009. Hospitalised and in ITU for 3 days and in hospital for 2 weeks.

All my family have had Covid, people I spent time with just before Christmas had it over Christmas but I didn't get it.

I have had all three jabs, had them early as classed as vulnerable as I have Lupus.

Just wondered if having had a coronavirus so badly whether that has helped me fight it off.

I'm not sure if I've had covid to be honest - every time I've had symptoms I've tested negative.

I did have swine flu and felt crap but as a few friends were hospitalised can't say I struggled as much as some in my circle did.

Swine flu 2019 (!) - in hospital for four days.

COVID-19 twice. Not pleasant either time, but I was worse with Swine flu (am also asthmatic).

Yes I've had swine flu & covid.

Moderately Ill with both

Quornflakegirl · 15/01/2022 19:44

I was extremely unwell with swine flu, in bed for a week and so weak. It took a whole month to fully recover. I haven’t had covid (that I know of but suspect I didn’t in February 2020, I wasn’t very ill with it, just a terrible cough.

FlyingFlamingo · 15/01/2022 19:53

But swine flu isn’t a coronavirus Confused

Mommabear20 · 15/01/2022 19:55

Had swine flu but haven't had covid (yet) and only got my first jab yesterday so have had no protection against it either.

Natsku · 15/01/2022 19:57

I had swine flu, and not had covid but fail to see a connection.

That's really interesting - I also had swine flu in 2009 and I have not had covid at all despite having 5 kids (3 in school and two in Uni who are all very sociable kids and have been around other kids as much as had been allowed

I had swine flu, and have entirely avoided covid so far

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 16/01/2022 12:30

Could I just divert the thread a little..
For those who were hospitalised with swine flu, how bad did you get before being admitted?

Maggiesgirl · 16/01/2022 16:42

I collapsed with breathing difficulties and was blue lighted in. (Was suppose to be at Mumsnet Christmas Meet up in London)

I had been ill for about 2 weeks by then, when I was admitted I had pneumonia in both lungs and a partial collapsed lung.

My Dr wouldn't come out and DH was worried about taking me out as we had a storm raging at the time. In the end he called an ambulance and I collapsed about 5 minutes later. We lived on an Army Camp at the time and DH called the duty medic who got to me first, then ambulance arrived about 10 minutes later.

Had covid ended up in hospital.

Have covid now day 5

ViceLikeBlip · 16/01/2022 16:46

Swine flu is a flu surely, not a coronavirus?

I had swine flu, it was the most ill I've ever been in my life, but not dangerously so, not hospitalised or anything. I had covid last year, after 2 jabs, and I felt pretty rough for 24hrs and that was pretty much the extent of it.

ohidoliketobe · 16/01/2022 16:48

I had swine flu, bad but not hospitalised. So far have avoided Covid, including when they other 4 members of my household had it in a two week period, and I was in the same hospital room for over 72 hpirs as poor little DD who ended up in hospital with bronchiolitis and RSV whilst she was testing positive.
I pick up every cold and upper respiratory virus going (which I've always believed was linked to having swine flu) so I have no idea how I've avoided it.

ohdear99 · 16/01/2022 16:48

Sorry I meant I had swine flu ended up in hospital and I have covid now day 5

KatieB55 · 16/01/2022 20:37

I had swine flu & have had Covid

Katya213 · 16/01/2022 20:52

I caught swine flu in 2010 whilst transferring a patient to itu who had it. I was very ill. I've never had covid, have been around covid constantly and my daughter has played with infected children with it and we have never gotten it.
