Is your family boosted? Did you get covid

Is your family boosted? Did covid come into the family and spread?

Basically there's talk about scraping the close contact rules for people who are boosted. As in if you are boosted and you become a close contact, if you are without symptoms and have a negative antigen test, you don't need to isolate?

I don't know a lot of people but personally I know of two households where covid spread throughout the household. These are people who took the vaccines seriously and are up to date on the vaccines. One person was coughing up blood. Another person got a dose so mild it was like a cold.

I'm worried and apprehensive about the change in rules.

Not boosted but double jabbed. Ds had tested positive for covid a couple of weeks ago. DH also tested positive (double jabbed not boosted) a couple of days later. I avoided it, also double jabbed but not boosted

Should have said both only had very mild symptoms

Januarypip · 11/01/2022 21:27

You haven't had to isolate for close contact for ages in England.

Where are you OP?

I agree it feels weird seeing people knowing family members are at home positive

thepurplepenguin · 11/01/2022 21:29

That is already the rule if you are double vaccinated?

MissOrganisedMe · 11/01/2022 21:29

I'm currently positive. Tested yesterday on an LFT. I had no idea. I'm double jabbed an boosted.

Rest of household currently negative.
1 double jabbed and boosted (40+), 1 double jabbed (

AutumnDance · 11/01/2022 21:32

I'm in Ireland.

I'm boosted and currently have covid. No symptoms other than tiredness. All my lateral flows are showing negative, I only did a PCR because my DH and all my kids had tested positive and I had aching legs one day and felt more tired than usual, came back positive.

wineandchocolateforthewin · 11/01/2022 21:37

Husband boosted and recently had it, it was like a mild cold

samyeagar · 11/01/2022 21:46

Given the current rates, it is highly likely that covid being in households where some or all are triple jabbed is the norm.

Watto1 · 11/01/2022 22:07

I had Covid before I was boosted. Dh shared a bed with me throughout and didn’t catch it (he was boosted). Im pretty certain I picked it up when I went out for a meal with three boosted friends. None of them caught it either.

Porcupineintherough · 11/01/2022 22:19

Dh and I were boosted when ds2 caught it. Neither of us were infected.

Sirzy · 11/01/2022 22:22

My sister is boosted. Her husband tested positive the day before he was due his and their three children (1 first vaccine other two to young) all tested positive over the next 10 days.

Boosted sister was the only one who didn’t contract it

(I know one example doesn’t prove anything obvious)

dementedpixie · 11/01/2022 22:23

Dh boosted and tested positive
Me - boosted; never caught it despite sharing room/bed
Dd - 2 doses; never caught it although she distanced more
Ds - 1 dose; never caught it and also mostly kept her distance

elelel · 11/01/2022 22:25

We have all had the booster then one of us got covid. It didn't spread through the house because they isolated. I don't think it was sure to boosters that we didn't get it at home, because the person who got it outwith the home was also boosted.

kerosene20 · 11/01/2022 22:26

I had the booster 8 weeks before my ds caught COVID and I caught it too but mild like a cold.

MissM2912 · 11/01/2022 22:27

Currently have Covid. Double vaccinated and boosted mid November. Relatively mild. Husband also positive- double vaccinated but wasn’t able to be boosted yet, and daughter single vaccine positive. We think she has brought it home from school. Unvaccinated child still negative!!

ElinorOliphant · 11/01/2022 22:47

Dd 13 (not vaccinated) had Covid just before Xmas. DP and I (triple vaxxed) didn’t catch it,and we didn’t isolate from her either.
Mind you,her little brother didn’t catch it either (11)!

supadupapupascupa · 11/01/2022 22:51

Two adults both double jabbed and boosted. DH caught at a wedding at new year. Finally negative today. I've not had it

Anawi · 11/01/2022 23:33

I had my booster 3wks before testing positive, husband has his two weeks before. Didnt seem to do anything to stop us catching it from our daughter within days. I felt awful for two weeks, slowly starting to feel more human now, husband felt really rotten for a week to 10 days. Glad we didnt have to find out how we felt unvaccinated! Sad

Motherofalittledragon · 11/01/2022 23:47

I'm boosted and have tested positive, in the last couple of days 4 of us have tested positive 😩.

Eliards2012 · 12/01/2022 05:14

I am double vaccinated and booster in November - and tested positive on Monday. Feel dreadful at the moment - 2 out of 3 of my kids are positive and think the 3rd will test positive in the morning.

liveforsummer · 12/01/2022 07:41

I have covid and not quite due my booster but had second recently enough that it should be full power. Strangely I didn't catch it when dc had it and I was locked in a house with them, no attempts to distance but caught it round about the beginning of January when I hadn't been anywhere in days

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 12/01/2022 10:08

DH and I am. 2 sons aren’t as too young. Ds1 caught Covid from school. I caught it from him (very, very mild symptoms) but neither ds2 or dh did. No attempt to distance from each other.

Motnight · 12/01/2022 10:14

Dd mid 20s boosted and caught covid from work (NHS). She had been in close contact with dh and I. DH tested positive with a lft but negative with a PCR test. We assumed that he did have covid as had the same symptoms as dd.

DH and I also boosted.

Ifeellikedancing · 12/01/2022 10:14

Dp is double jabbed, I am boosted. All household has recently had covid. DP got it first, then ds (unvacinated as too young), then me. I have had less symptoms than either of them but noone has been badly affected. DP coughed and was very tired for about 3 days, ds had what seemed like a cold for 2 days. I have had nothing other than a tiny bet of morning congestion and a bit of tiredness.
