Ahhh FFS is this a faint positive?

My DC and I can all see a very light test line. It came up within the time limit and has stayed for a couple of hours since.

Not sure what I'm hoping for here, maybe that everyone will say I'm seeing things! This seems to keep happening in our household. Every time PCRs have come back negative.

My DS had Covid in October and his LFTs gave him a clear strong positive days before he got any symptoms.

I guess I will do another LFT tonight/tomorrow and go from there. Until today I would have gone for a PCR but I don't have symptoms.

Ahhh FFS is this a faint positive?

I think faint lines are inconclusive. I have covid at the moment. I was negative on all LFTs and positive on a PCR. In the past I've had faint lines that have led to a negative PCR.

8MinutesToSunrise · 11/01/2022 18:17

I see it. Any second line is a positive even if its faint.

Emmelina · 11/01/2022 18:46

Mine was like this, really hard to photograph it was so faint. PCR was positive and I’m not long out of isolation! Still getting these on LFT but I’ve done my time.

Joystir59 · 11/01/2022 18:47

I cannot see any line

KiloWhat · 11/01/2022 19:27

Verify faint

LSLLM · 11/01/2022 19:42

I see it for sure

Porthia · 11/01/2022 19:44

Probably a good idea to repeat the test tomorrow and go on that OP!

My DH had two like this back in October but then PCR was negative so who knows!

I'm dealing with this now. My ds 5 barely let me touch him with the swab on Friday but it showed a faint positive, I didn't like how faint it was so I put him through it twice more (sorry ds!) school said he needed a pcr to confirm and the results have just come back as negative but again he barely let me swab him.. so he should go back to school now? I'm so confused and I test as a job which I won't get paid for as ds's pcr is negative now. I tested at the same time (negative) then the next day I had an awful headache and my next lfd was a clearer positive I'll attach photos. I had my booster a mere 4 weeks ago I'm not sure I trust these lfd's anymore. If my pcr is negative I will lose a lot of money from isolating.

It's a SureScreen one. We have some Orient Gene ones too. I will do one of those later/tomorrow. Opinion pretty divided at the moment, which isn't very helpful![/quote]
Tomorrow is Day 1 of your isolation period.

@BlackInk that's a very faint positive!

When was the last lft?

Nope, any line us a line, not inconclusive.

@BlackInk. There have been loads of these threads, I think it depends on peoples phone/pads whether they can see them or not on here.

BlackInk · 12/01/2022 09:31

Well, I did another LFT last night and one first thing this morning, and both totally negative. I have no symptoms and am going to lie low today then LFT agin tomorrow to make sure, but think it must have been a false one. In the past we would have done a PCR for reassurance but that's not recommended now. Rest of the household also tested negative on LFTs last night.

@BlackInk good luck with the rest of your lfd's. My pcr results came back this morning void. This whole thing has put me off testing to be honest. My ds school won't accept his negative pcr results so why bother getting us to do one in the first place? I've had to order another pcr for myself as I need a positive to get paid for isolation. Hopefully you won't have anymore faint lines!

ItWasAgathaAllAlong · 12/01/2022 17:50

Don't know about lateral flow testing, but maybe I need my eyes testing - I can't see any line on OP's photos! Blush

ItWasAgathaAllAlong · 12/01/2022 17:51

I mean any positive line - I can see the upper control line Grin (Just in case anyone was thinking of reporting me for driving whilst unable to see any line at all!)

Ricksteinsfishwife · 12/01/2022 17:52

When I tested positive it was a strong line and immediate. I’d have said that was a negative.

Peterbear · 12/01/2022 18:45

So hard to say I have similar quandary!

Not according to the booklet and online Government information.

Any C line, even if faint, is to be treated as positive if it appears within the time limits.

JS87 · 12/01/2022 19:15

I disagree that a very faint line should be treated as a positive. We’ve had loads of them depending on the box over months. None of us have had covid. I definitely wouldn’t treat a really faint line as a positive without a confirmatory pcr. The tests are basically an Elisa and the background can vary on those. I don’t think the manufacturers meant a line so faint you have to squint at it. If other LFT have been negative I’d assume it was a high background.

JS87 · 12/01/2022 19:17

I would not isolate on such a faint line. If I was concerned (any kind of symptom - not just main three) or close contact I’d get a pcr.
