Travel to Spain on only one jab

Booked a 1/2 term break but DD only has one jab. No problem I thought, will book her in for her second.

Except that you have to have 12 weeks between the two jabs and it will only be 6 weeks when she needs her second.

We are in the UK but are Irish nationals and I've read that there are different rules for EU passport holders, but can't figure out if they apply travelling from the UK.

How strict are they on the 12 week rule?

Can anyone make sense of the rules?

I was under the assumption its double vaccinated or no entry, regardless of your nationality it applies to where you are flying from

Also depending on what part of Spain you are flying too, if they are under level 4 restrictions they ask for covid passes for entry into restaurants for over 12s

Its strictly double vax for 12+ - there is now way round it, not even prior infection

EU citizens can take a PCR test with 72 hours of departure for Spain or provide evidence of prior infection. Wish UK citizens could do the same as it would solve my current issue!

This is what I am pinning my hopes on. Does that include EU citizens travelling from the UK?

I accidentally took my son in 4 wks too early for his second jab. I only realised my mistake when I got there but I kept quiet and luckily nobody flagged it up and so he got his 2nd jab at 8 wks! That was at a walk in centre- worth a go?

they can have second jabs at 8 weeks if vulnerable or living with vulnerable so could try saying you have elderly relative etc - i plan on doing that

saying that, near me kids can have vax at 28 days post covid which isnt guidelines either so seems walk in centres are better

I had this question come up for clients over Christmas (I work in travel) and was assured it's based on point of departure, rather than nationality / passport of arrivals. So EU citizens travelling from UK are subject to UK arrival rules.

Sorry Op (although we're hoping they'll change their minds again before half-term).

Op you said 6 weeks to travel? I don’t think they’d do it then plus you need 14 days post second dose to be classed as second vax

The only reason many vax at 8 weeks is because it’s actually in guidelines to do some teens at 8 week but no guidance exists before then

I believe if you have an Irish passport then the double vax thing does not apply to you.

Also, you can go over the Ireland and get a jab there 4 weeks after your first. If you wanted to be absolutely sure!!

This is true but getting a vaccine from abroad put on your NHS/covid passport is incredibly difficult so although she may be double vaccinated, being able to prove it may prove tricky

It wasn't difficult at all, in fact it was the only way to get a covid passport for DC. We received a digital cert for the second vaccine which was then uploaded without issue on to the Spanish PLF.

Ds is 14yo and cv and I'm struggling to get his second jab earlier than 12 weeks. He was 8 weeks last week and I wanted it done then, but you need a letter from the gp to say that... Apparently out gp knows nothing about it.
I'm waiting for an email from the ccg now.

I'd say your likelihood of getting it at 6 weeks is very low.

It depends on where you are travelling from and where you were on the 14 days prior to travelling. I am Spanish but subject to the UK rules as I live in the UK.

I've got about 10 days to find a solution, after that I can't get a refund for our flights/accommodation.

To be clear, we wouldn't go without her!
