As title states, anyone had a covid booster or vaccine and caught covid in the first week?
Where there any complications or adverse effects?

DD had her booster on the 31st (New Years Eve), went to a couple of pubs and then tested positive on the 4th. DD was more unwell with the heavy cold she had a couple of weeks beforehand.

I tested positive yesterday, 12 days after the booster but my booster side effects and a head cold pretty much rolled into one another.

I was LFT pretty much everyday for work, just to be sure, as I had a cold but didn't test Friday or Saturday night as I wasn't at work the next day. Felt much worse yesterday morning after having a bad headache for days and tested positive yesterday afternoon. Feel really rubbish but nothing alarming. Just sore throat, severe headache, unbelievably tired and regular cold symptoms.

This happened to me. No adverse effects. I had fairly mild symptoms.
I think the reason they don’t recommend getting the vaccine if
You have symptoms etc, is because the vaccine is less likely to be effective , not because it is dangerous iyswim.

I got a positive exactly two weeks after my booster. I'm on day 9 of isolation and I've definitely been more ill with non-covid things than I have been with covid but there have been a couple of days where I've felt really pants. The main thing is I'm really tired, bit of brain fog and my appetite is weird.

Yes this happened to exH, he had his booster in the morning started showing Covid symptoms (temperature) in the night and tested positive on lateral flow the next morning. He felt rough for a couple of days then was fine.

Yes. Got the booster and two days later tested positive.

My DS (14) had his jab on the Friday and tested positive on the following Tuesday, back in November. He was completely asymptomatic apart from feeling very vaguely sick for about half an hour on the Monday morning and had no side effects from the jab.

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 10/01/2022 15:18

Possibly. I had my booster on the Tuesday before Christmas then a positive lateral flow test on Christmas Day, had a bit of a sore throat and sore oesophagus for a couple of days but a negative PCR test on the Wednesday so just over a week after my booster. I wouldn’t have thought I even had covid and only took the lateral flow test on Christmas Day so we could visit family. I feel pretty much the same level of crap now due to musical beds with children last night Hmm

DS tested positive 10 days after his booster, so likely caught it within a week. So far (on day 4) no symptoms at all.

I had my booster on a Monday and tested positive on the Thursday. For me it felt like a mild cold; I think the booster side effects were worse!

I think it's a good question. I tested positive the day after having my booster. And have been really unwell with covid. Two months in and I'm still struggling with fatigue and still signed off work. I'll never know of course but I have heard anecdotally that my body might have struggled with the combined effort of reacting to the booster and the virus at basically the same time. Still pleased to have been boosted.

FoxRedLabbingtons · 10/01/2022 17:13

I had my booster on the Saturday. Had two days in bed shivering as the vaccines give me side effects. I tested positive for Covid (caught from DS) on the Wednesday. Just had cold symptoms and loss of taste for a day. I was knackered for the whole of December though ( it’s a busy month though isn’t it?). Think my immune system took a battering but I’m hoping I must now be massively immune 😆
