Out in a town where mask wearing is obligatory but a lot of people are not wearing masks. I am wearing a mask and my 8 and 10 year old are too. 10 year old walks to a shop window to have a look at some model airplanes. He has pulled down mask as he is about to eat something (permitted by rules). Man behind him says something rude about him to another person, so that dc could overhear, about dc not wearing a mask. Man had a 2 year old on his shoulders and his wife was carrying a baby. Dc told me this later, he said he froze in panic and called me over instead of putting on his mask. I walked over and and as i do the man shouts loudly and passively aggressively "masks are needed ALL over [town]" in a "this child is totally stupid obviously". Dc was really upset. I said the man should have just reminded him to pull up his mask. As we stood about 5 other families went by with children of a similar age without masks. Had that man just gone round shouting at everyone all afternoon I wonder? Why not just say "you need to pull up your mask" in a normal tone of voice?
I didn't register what the man had said at first, as I thought dc was just calling me over to admire a plane, and by the time I had realised and turned around to look at him, he had disappeared into the crowd. Obviously not so willing to be rude to a grown adult as he had been to a child.
Small thing I know. Just fed up of rude people. Maybe I am being oversensitive.
