Was anyone here exposed to covid but didn't get it?

I spent a while yesterday with my partner. I spent more time with him today. I was in an enclosed space with no open windows and no masks. He wasn't coughing or sneezing.

Just this evening he came down with the sniffles. That's what he's saying. Antigen test gave him back a negative. The virus is so rampant it's hard to get a pcr now.

I can only presume it's covid now. The next day or two will tell if his symptoms progresses. If his symptoms progresses I will take it as a suspected covid and then I will be a close contact of a suspected covid case.

Just wondering if anyone here was exposed to covid and didn't get symptoms of sickness?

We are both triple vaccinated

Loads of people.

Absoluteweapon · 30/12/2021 23:33

Yes me twice! Once with dd when I was double jabbed and recently with DH after booster.

bonkle · 30/12/2021 23:34

I also don't understand why you would "presume" it is covid when there are so many other similar illnesses about.

Megan2018 · 30/12/2021 23:34

My toddler had Covid, I didn’t get it and neither did her father.
She literally licks my face and at the time she was still breastfed. It’s not inevitable to get it.
It wasn’t Omicron though that she had, as it was in October.

sofakingcool · 30/12/2021 23:34

Both of my children have had it (separate occasions) and neither time did I get it. Both teenagers, so we did try to limit contact, but still I was amazed to have avoided it on both occasions!

Angryattrackandtrace · 30/12/2021 23:36

I’ve been a close contact with many, many people that have gone into test positive (due to work and then a family member j was caring for Testing positive)

I’ve not contracted it.

Tisahardlife · 30/12/2021 23:36

I'm currently living with 3 covid positive teenagers... I've not caught it...Yet, I know there's time, but the first tested positive 7 days ago... I'm still negative, I'm tipple jabbed, maybe that's it, but I'm not complaining...

Florabritannica · 30/12/2021 23:37

Yes, DH and DS both had it in October and I didn’t. Double-jabbed - but then DH was double-jabbed and boosted.

PurpleFadesToGreen · 30/12/2021 23:38

I had it a year ago before vaccinations, no one in my family got it.

I was in a car with all of 7 of them, GS even licked me!!
Then was isolating with the 3 at home, nothing.

DH got it in the summer, again no-one else caught it from him.
Only me double vaxxed at that point, him single and the kids no vaccination.

Thanks for the replies.

I will see how he is tomorrow and Saturday.

If it progresses I will presume its covid til tested by pcr.

I'm a little bit nervous now that this could be an exposure. My tummy gets sore and sick easily. I'm dreading tummy sickness.

I've had it for the last week and none of my family have caught it (4 people). And when I was most infectious before I got my result we spent the whole day together.

AutumnDance · 30/12/2021 23:42

Hopefully I will manage not to get this.

LemonMuffins · 30/12/2021 23:42

Yes. 4 of us in a household. 1 positive, the rest never caught it and we weren't careful.

Newyearoldyou · 30/12/2021 23:43

Yes but pre omicron.
The ye old delta.

Two dc had it but, not at the same time and didn't catch it off each other.

One dc stayed in their room more (teen) felt unwell, didn't have an easy time of it but I've seen her much worse with other things.
Other dc barely showed any symptoms or signs of being ill at all!
Didn't isolate from her at all, maybe she had a low doze who knows however we did ventilation etc.

TheBestForLast · 30/12/2021 23:55

My son (7) has it, there are 4 of us in the house and no one else has got it. He's been sleeping with me whilst he's poorly so I can keep an eye on him. I've had a headache and stomach pain but have been tested negative.

TheFluffiestCat · 30/12/2021 23:57

DD got it, I caught it from her, DH didn't. We mixed in the house as usual and were both working from home throughout.

xyzandabc · 31/12/2021 00:00

Dd12 had it and no one else in the house got it. We didn't isolate her within the house at all. She was single jabbed, DH and I triple, 2 other DC unvaccinated.

LyndaLaHughes · 31/12/2021 00:00

I have it now- my husband and my children don't. My family shared the initial close contact that I did too.

Lessofallthisunpleasantness · 31/12/2021 00:03

Yes. October son 12 got it and rest didn't.

Just before Xmas (so Omicron probably as very mild too). Myself and 15 year old got it an the other 3 didn't.

All vaccinated except the 12 year old.

Trixiefirecracker · 31/12/2021 00:05

My son, we didn’t isolate him and he literally coughed in my face on more than one occasion! 😂 I didn’t get it.

or he could just have a sodding cold ! theres been 4 of us at work with a cold at various times since beginning of dec and we werent all presuming we had bloody covid , never mind isolating which is just as well as we are in retail and christmas is our busiest time , if we had all presumed our sniffles and sore throats were covid and decided to isolate i hate to think of short staffed our large busy store would have been , get a grip really . and im really really confused as to what vomiting and the runs which i presume is what you mean by tummy sickness had to do with having covid !! that is norovirus and yes iv had it and we all dread it , but still it aint covid though
MyFirstMyLastMyEverythingBagel · 31/12/2021 00:06

My 3 children had it at the same time and I didn't catch it. No distancing at all - youngest sleeping in my room. My brother tested positive on boxing day ... had been with him all Christmas day and also shared a car journey with him, no windows open as it was bloody freezing!! Still testing negative again so far ... was double jabbed when my kids had it and about 9 days post booster when with my brother

Rosemaryandlemon · 31/12/2021 00:07

I have been pinged so many times I think I’m on track and traces speed dial (I should add work related not a wild social life). My DS had it in November. I was doing lfts twice a week as I work outside the home, but I was having to do them every day from 9 December - 27 December (on advice of track and trace). I’ve never had a positive (including pcrs). Prior to the vaccine I did an antibody test for the ONS and had no antibodies. I do wonder if there might be a genetic element in terms of some natural immunity (and why others are so susceptible) (none of my siblings or parents have also had it) - although saying that I’ll probably test positive tomorrow…

liveforsummer · 31/12/2021 00:10

Both dc had it the week before Xmas. Single parent in a small flat. The heating is rubbish and it was cold so no open windows. Dd2 sleeping in my bed breathing in my face every night, caught her stealing drinks from my glass on several occasions, squeezed on to said with both watching a lot of movies. I didn't catch it and have 2 jabs but no booster
