arent you advised to?

That's two different questions! We're all working from home unless there's a real need to be in. It's recommended we mask up.if do go in, but I haven't been so not sure if people are. It's usually a fairly rule-following place though.

LawnFever · 28/12/2021 08:35

We’re mostly working at home.

The handful who do need to go in are wearing masks moving around and social distancing yes.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 28/12/2021 08:38

Mostly.

I work in care. I need to be close to people.

Also, I caught covid whilst wearing full PPE so I don’t have a huge amount of faith in one flimsy mask.

milly74 · 28/12/2021 08:40

ugh at masking up another phrase that makes me grit my teeth

MrsLargeEmbodied · 28/12/2021 08:41

ok @milly74 - taking appropriate precautions, with a mask usually

We are advised to but it’s not enforced by anyone.
And on the day our business manager sent an email about it, she arrived at our office and paraded around without a mask.
The windows are shut and the heating on. I dared to open a window the other day and everyone complained that it was cold, so I had to shut it.

Latenightreader · 28/12/2021 08:41

We wear masks all the time when walking around, and keep them on the majority of the time when at our desks. We keep distance to some extent and so far haven't even caught each others colds! I had covid in Sept and no one caught it from me despite being in a full staff meeting the day before, so precautions seem to be working so far...

GoodnightGrandma · 28/12/2021 08:43

I moved desks the other day as a member of staff came in sniffing and coughing. The manager was there but didn’t ask if she’d done an LFT.

BusBusBus · 28/12/2021 08:43

I wear a mask in corridors as advised but ironically these are empty when I move around them. Im advised not to wear a mask for other parts of the day. I socially distance from adults where possible but not from the children.

ItsSnowJokes · 28/12/2021 08:43

98% of people are working from home. Those that have to be in (estates etc....) are wearing masks and socially distancing.

MyGreenTutu · 28/12/2021 08:46

I work in a school office. I wear a mask all the time; it reassures me, being in such a germ ridden environment. Back in December we were supposed to wear them moving around the building but not at our desks. I would say perhaps a third of admin / teaching staff were doing this (the Head was not) and only a tiny proportion were wearing them more than this. Will be interesting to see if there's a change in the new term.

thismeansnothing · 28/12/2021 08:46

Work in a supermarket. On the whole were able to social distance and those that are able wear masks too

skyblueone · 28/12/2021 08:46

I work in childcare. There are four rooms in my nursery, each room is a bubble. If I go from my room to another I have to put on a mask. Within our bubbles there is no social distancing obviously and we don't wear masks.

insancerre · 28/12/2021 08:49

I work in a nursery
We don’t wear masks or social distance except for when we collect the children from their parents outside
Parents have to wear them to come in to collect their children

TheRainbow · 28/12/2021 08:56

I work in a primary school and teach several classes. I am unable to wear a mask as the children need to see my face. I am in close contact with the children. I am Cev but ppe not an option. When I am not working and not at home, I wear an ffp3 mask.

Anonmousse · 28/12/2021 08:57

I can seldom wfh and its not possible to social distance at work. The window nearest to me only opens about an inch.

LynxGiftsetAndSocks · 28/12/2021 09:00

It's a half assed attempt by customers

Under chins, up close , thrusting their phones into our face

CJat10 · 28/12/2021 09:05

NHS....yes but we had one member of staff who didn't want to. She would take it off, forget it all the time when patients were not present. Other staff then couldn't be bothered because they couldn't see the point if she didn't. Manager had it out with her a couple of times and mask refuser had a hissy fit and announced her resignation unless something was done for her....going to manager above.

Who accepted her resignation and processed it same day 😆

Since then everyone wears masks and quite happy to do so. Drama llama is not missed. I think she flew on holiday wearing a mask for 3 hours the next week...having insisted she have a sunflower lanyard and be exempt for work!

JaceLancs · 28/12/2021 09:05

We social distance in office but don’t wear masks - depending on your job role you can work from home

ifonly4 · 28/12/2021 09:06

Two jobs. One very strict, masks and only allowed close to colleagues if really needed. Only allowed masks off in canteen if we're actually eating and drinking, and they need to be put back on if we want to talk to anyone.

Second job school. Can't keep away from children (although I try as I'm conscious I'm often stood over them talking), but my team of collegues do keep away from eachother other than brief update chats which we try to do from 2+ plus.

My DH works in an office where they seem to think they're a bubble so no masks required - having said that if anyone has contact/isn't feeling very well the department support that person to work from home.

Fallible · 28/12/2021 09:11

Yeah, we all do. Nurse in the NHS and it's non negotiable and enforced at all times in my area.

ufucoffee · 28/12/2021 09:12

I'm working in office and no one is wearing masks. We don't sit that closely that we need to distance.

Oblomov21 · 28/12/2021 09:12

No. We don't wear masks at work. One job there are 4 of us in a huge office, I have to walk 10 steps to get to the next person.

My other job I have my own office, my own portacabin. My MD has his own Portacabin aswell. I don't wear a mask when I go in to talk to him. But there is another portacabin with three ladies in, and at certain points like in the last few weeks they have been worried about Corona and ask people coming in to wear a mask which of course I respectfully have done.

I have worked at these companies since March 20 and as far as I know none of us have had Covid, or if any of us have we were asymptomatic and unaware, despite regularly testing, in the 10 people that I regularly come across.

PhilCornwall1 · 28/12/2021 09:16

No masks or distancing if we go to an office.

We've got a machine that automatically takes your temperature when you walk past it. Only flaw with it is, if you have a hot drink in your hand it sounds an alarm and a very concerned voice tells you that you have a high temperature.

ColdShouldersWarmTummy · 28/12/2021 09:17

Masks in communal areas (lifts, lobbies, loos). Not in our massive open plan office though 🤷‍♀️

The last two days I was in before Christmas I wore an FFP3 all day. Was told I looked like a 🦆 but I stayed covid-free for Christmas so I'm happy.
