What day were you LFT negative?

For those who kept testing- how long was it before your LFTs turned negative? I’m somewhere between day 5-7. I don’t particularly have any symptoms anymore (apart from fatigue, but tbf I am isolating with a 6 week old baby and a 2.5 year old) but I’m still getting blazing positives 😞. Feeling pretty low and anxious about it, as would have thought it would be at least fading by now..?

Keen to here others’ experiences…

I had a faint positive until day 10 .

ffscovid · 26/12/2021 20:20

Why do you all keep testing? The cost of LFTs to the taxpayer is huge - about £8 per test. No need to test once you've got a positive result until day 6/7 (in England). Just a huge waste of plastic and money (not to mention that they're in short supply at the moment for those that actually need to test).

I’m testing my son as he is day 6 and if we can end isolation before next Friday then that may save his sanity. I will stop on Wednesday as if he still positive then, we will just stop his isolation on Friday.

Adult dd had booster on the Monday, tested positive Tuesday, asymptomatic. Still testing strong yesterday so crossing fingers she clears asap ready for delayed Christmas on New Year's Day!

Bizawit · 27/12/2021 11:05

Still positive here :(. Day 8 from symptoms. Day 6 from first positive test.

Going by this thread not too many will be able to go back to work at day 7 as the government hoped

SmallestInTheClass · 27/12/2021 12:39

Two friends who have it both still positive on day 7. I think they're expecting to have to wait until to 10 days. My DD is on day 4. Really hope she's negative day 6 and 7 but not optimistic.

Ontopofthesunset · 27/12/2021 15:19

DS1 tested positive on Tuesday, still testing positive today. Mild symptoms for a couple of days - sore throat, bit of a cough, bit hot. No symptoms since at least Friday.

friedeggandsauce · 27/12/2021 15:21

DH is on day 6 and this morning had a faint positive so he'll do another tonight!

Like you OP he is feeling ok except for fatigue which is just unreal

Hope you get your negative soon

Troublesometooth · 27/12/2021 15:23

I was negative by day 5.

LateralFlo · 27/12/2021 15:30

Negative day 6, positive day 7 Confused

friedeggandsauce · 27/12/2021 15:34

@TheLasrStraw

I tested positive in late September and the advice then was not to take LFT for 3 months unless symptomatic.
@TheLasrStraw but guidance has changed as the government wants people back at work on day 7! Will be interesting to see how many will be able to do so. My dh on day 6 has a physical job and wouldn't be able to go to work as he's too tired anyway
daisybrown37 · 27/12/2021 16:37

Day 7 - very faint positive for my son. Hoping he will be negative tomorrow. Family had hoped we would be out of isolation by tomorrow but I thought they were being overly optimistic. I was right!

Tillyvonpantsalo · 27/12/2021 16:54

Day 12 was my first negative

LessTime · 27/12/2021 17:39

First symptoms on Monday 20th
Positive Lft. Wednesday 23
Positive ltf Thursday
Positive lft sunday morning
Negative lft Sunday afternoon
Positive lft Monday morning

Sigh…..

LessTime · 27/12/2021 17:40

Forgot to mention symptoms only lasted 3 days. So short but not mild. Was definitely ill

elotrolado · 27/12/2021 18:26

Just tested DS today, Day 6 - negative 🤞🏻 For tomorrow

LoveBeingAMum555 · 27/12/2021 18:47

DS had faint LFT positive yesterday (day 6) and negative today (day 7). He has had cold like symptoms but feels fine now.

Eredoor · 27/12/2021 18:55

DS, day 8 and another big positive, we were hoping he would be able to come down tomorrow or Wednesday as we had missed Christmas but have decided to meet up in January now.

Queenoftheashes · 28/12/2021 10:20

@Queenoftheashes

Day 0 - pcr taken (positive) Day 1 - lft negative Day 2 - lft positive and minor symptoms began Day 6 - lft stronger positive. Barely noticeable nasal congestion. That’s where I am now so I won’t be getting out early.
Day 6 - negative lft
Queenoftheashes · 28/12/2021 10:20

Day 8!! Not 6.

Bizawit · 28/12/2021 10:43

@Queenoftheashes

My line is finally noticeably fainter this morning. So although I’m still positive, I’m at least seeing progress now. I’m day 7 from positive test, day 9 from onset is symptoms.

At least Day 11 before the first negative. Could have been longer as ds thought he had a bad hangover for a couple of days beforehand.

BlibBlabBlob · 28/12/2021 10:49

Had it in the latter half of October this year. Was already doing daily LFTs because DD and DH had confirmed (via PCR) infections and I wasn't isolating from them. (And wasn't going out either, as I knew it was only a matter of time before I caught it.)

Clear negative on the Wednesday but on Thursday it was a clear positive. I called the Thursday day zero, which is I believe what happens if you get a positive PCR (the day following the test is the first day of the isolation period).

Kept doing daily LFTs out of interest and to confirm to myself that it really was COVID as I had decided not to bother with PCR for me - didn't want to deal with T&T yet again and also didn't feel it was sensible to leave the house and place anyone at risk of infection by going for a PCR.

If the first positive LFT was day zero then I got strong positives on days 1-5 of formal isolation. Day 6 it was positive but the test line was relatively faint. Day 7 it was completely gone, a clear negative result.
