What day were you LFT negative?

For those who kept testing- how long was it before your LFTs turned negative? I’m somewhere between day 5-7. I don’t particularly have any symptoms anymore (apart from fatigue, but tbf I am isolating with a 6 week old baby and a 2.5 year old) but I’m still getting blazing positives 😞. Feeling pretty low and anxious about it, as would have thought it would be at least fading by now..?

Keen to here others’ experiences…

I should add: if I'd had a PCR a couple of days before my first positive LFT I would presumably have tested positive on that. So my isolation would have started earlier. And thus I wouldn't have gotten a negative LFT result until day 9 or 10.

daisybrown37 · 28/12/2021 11:26

Day 8 here and son has negative LFT - yippee!

Hopefully we can get him out for a walk tomorrow.

Pickledlipstick · 30/12/2021 13:30

Has anyone’s faded then come back stronger?yesterday was day 7 and a very very faint positive still, today at day 8 have the strongest positive ever??

StarBar85 · 30/12/2021 13:46

Can anyone advise please? Positive LFT on Tuesday so went for PCR which confirmed result. If my LFT result on day 6 is positive, can I still break my isolation early if I test negative on day 7 & 8? Guidance just mentions days 6&7, or ending isolation on day 10.
I'm a teacher so this would make the difference between being there to lead a school trip or not 🤦🏻‍♀️

Kara198 · 30/12/2021 14:01

Dh took 21 days to stop showing as positive, which was a nightmare as due to his line of work he has to provide negative lateral flows to enter each premises he went to with work.
He ended up having to get a letter from.his employer to confirm the date of his.ppsitive pcr to say she should be exempt from taking LFs short term

CiderWithLizzie · 30/12/2021 14:11

DD still testing positive on flowflex 2.5 months after having covid!

TenLittleDinos · 30/12/2021 14:13

I was very faint positive by day 5 and negative by day 6.

Yes you can.

I think this is not at all unusual. That's why they want you to do TWO negative tests 24 hours apart.

It's very very disheartening when your day 6 test is negative but your day 7 is positive. There were tears in this house ☹️

Topsyandtimison37 · 30/12/2021 22:47

Can anyone advise please? I did pcr with no symptoms (as daughter had close contact) it came back positive (as well as daughters) I had no symptoms until day 4 of isolation and that was a mild runny nose and a bit hot and tired. Do I restart 10 days isolation from this date?

bagginses · 30/12/2021 22:48

Day 12/13 for me to show negative in the end.

No, your isolation date is from your positive test.

Yes I believe you have to restart it and it is then 10 days from the day after your symptoms start. My poor husband was asymptomatic until 9 days after his positive PCR so had a really long isolation period.

Thanks so much I thought so but I checked guidance again and just see this which I have not seen before!!! I find it really confusing now as it doesn't say this anywhere else.
This from nhs guidelines on 'when to isolate'

If you get symptoms while you're self-isolating, the 10 days restarts from the day after your symptoms started.

Hmm
makingmiracles · 30/12/2021 22:59

I was pretty poorly, got it days after my booster, was in bed for four days, still felt shit right up until day 8/9. My lft was completely negative by day 4

@LessTime thank you x

Queenoftheashes · 30/12/2021 23:41

@Topsyandtimison37 that’s if you were isolating as a close contact not quarantining after a positive test. Someone already tried to stitch me up with that on page one of this thread.
If you test positive you’re unlikely to be contagious after 10 days.

isitnewyearyet · 30/12/2021 23:52

If you are positive on day 10 and it's soooooo faint can you shop isolation? I only have nasal congestion but is that even a symptom????

MajesticWhine · 31/12/2021 00:21

I'm still positive on day 7. The line is getting thinner but it's definitely still there.

My understanding is that you can stop isolation On day ten even if your lfts still show you as positive. Not sure about the congestion. I’d guess it was ok if you aren’t feeling ill otherwise. I’m just guessing though…

This is a direct cut and paste from WWW.NHS.UK

You can stop self-isolating after the 10 days if either:
you do not have any symptoms
you just have a cough or changes to your sense of smell or tastethese can last for weeks after the infection has gone

When to keep self-isolating after 10 days
If you have a high temperature after the 10 days, or are feeling unwell, keep self-isolating and seek medical advice

isitnewyearyet · 31/12/2021 09:27

@LessTime
Thanks! It just shows the guidelines are vague as we are all having to ask things on here
As we don't know what we are doing!

That’s if you’re isolating as a close contact, not if you’ve had a positive test yourself.

Can someone explain why you can go out after 10 days isolation even if LFT shows positive? Why does it not mean you are positive all of a sudden? When can you start doing LFT again?

I believe studies have been done that show no transmission after 9 days.
