PCR this morning- test turnaround

Pastnowfuture · 26/12/2021 11:34

My husband had a PCR at 10am today and was told to expect results in 3-5 working days. I had one last week and the results were with me within 10hrs. When we've had them in the past they've always been returned within 24 hours max.

Just wondering if 3-5 days is the usual advice or whether it's longer over the Christmas period. What will be will be but I'm just interested to know and if anyone else had a morning PCR I hope it comes back negative soon!

Phew - 23 hour turnaround, negative, able to have sex and work!

sofakingexhausted · 28/12/2021 08:11

Anyone else still waiting on a xmas eve drive through result?? 5 days is taking the piss!!

SpringheelJack · 28/12/2021 08:23

East Midlands: usually have results next day. Tested on Boxing Day and had told 1-3 days but had the results after 22 hours. (Mine was fucking void so had to do another one and currently at 20 hours and counting.....)

Welliesandpyjamas · 28/12/2021 09:20

Posted mine Christmas Eve. Posted DH&DC on Boxing Day.
Nothing yet, not even the RM tracking has activated.
How long can the swabs even survive if stuck in bank holiday post?

Paddingtonthebear · 28/12/2021 09:23

Test (at test centre) 11am on 26th, result came back at 2am today on 28th

Lemons1571 · 28/12/2021 10:47

@Passthecake30 I’d go to a test site and repeat the test if you can. Postal tests that rely on Royal Mail over the Xmas break sound like a road to nowhere. Or at the very least, a road to a test result that arrives long after you’ve finished isolating (and cancelled plans are long in the past).

NotSoJollyChristmas · 28/12/2021 11:06

@Pastnowfuture did you get your results? I’m Merseyside and tested the whole house yesterday as covid contact and haven’t heard anything back yet

Passthecake30 · 28/12/2021 14:26

Got our test results last night, 82 hours after posting. Dh positive, the other 3 of us negative. However I know that’s not correct for me now, as I’ve had numerous positive LfT and I’m symptomatic so went for a drive through this morning.

sofakingexhausted · 28/12/2021 17:18

102 hours later Iv finally had my results, positive which was much expected after the way Iv been feeling!! I did chase track and trace this morning though so anyone else still waiting I'd suggest doing the same! Tomorrows day 6 from start of symptoms so fingers crossed for negative LFTs from here!!

MagentaRocks · 28/12/2021 17:21

I had a PCR today after a positive lft last night and was told it is a 24 hour wait for results. Last time I waited 14 hours.

Againstmachine · 28/12/2021 17:22

Wow imagine over a period with many people off it, might be a longer wait.

NotSoJollyChristmas · 28/12/2021 17:31

We’re on 26 hours now

MagentaRocks · 29/12/2021 05:23

@MagentaRocks

I had a PCR today after a positive lft last night and was told it is a 24 hour wait for results. Last time I waited 14 hours.
I got my result (positive) in 9 hours, I’m in the south west.
Dontletthemuggglesgetyoudown · 29/12/2021 06:09

Test at 2pm on Monday, results 8pm Tuesday sadly positive

Passthecake30 · 29/12/2021 10:17

So after my initial postal negative that took 82 hours, I did a drive through yesterday, got a positive result within 18hours. That’s some improvement.

LadyNell · 29/12/2021 10:34

Did a postal pcr Christmas day still no results

LadyNell · 29/12/2021 10:35

I'm in Kent

FairfaxHigh · 29/12/2021 10:40

DS1 tested Christmas morning- we were told results would be 1-3 days but likely to be nearer 3 due to backlog. In the event got them Boxing Day evening. We're in the North West.

nettii2414 · 29/12/2021 16:33

Myself and 2 daughters (one positive on lft) got tested all together at a walk in. One positive test came back after 26 hours but still waiting on the other two. Wondering if they are notifying positives first. In the East.

nannapat58 · 29/12/2021 16:36

Had mine at 10.30am results back 14.40 they have on sight testing facilities

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 29/12/2021 17:12

All of ours until now have been around the 24 hour mark but one done on the 23rd took four days.

Tayegete · 29/12/2021 17:38

I’ve always had them back in 24 hours before but we went to a drive through site on Monday morning and nothing back yet. My aunt posted hers back last Thursday and still hasn’t heard!
