PCR this morning- test turnaround

My husband had a PCR at 10am today and was told to expect results in 3-5 working days. I had one last week and the results were with me within 10hrs. When we've had them in the past they've always been returned within 24 hours max.

Just wondering if 3-5 days is the usual advice or whether it's longer over the Christmas period. What will be will be but I'm just interested to know and if anyone else had a morning PCR I hope it comes back negative soon!

I had mine done the 22nd in the afternoon and they came back Christmas morning . It’s taking Atleast 48 hours currently.

I always thought you could chase results after 72 hours but I've just called and it says they can't help now unless it's been 96 hours!

I posted 4 on Xmas eve at 2pm Xmas eve 2pm and still waiting. By the time they arrive hopefully dp will be feeling better (he’s definitely positive)

I did one on Monday 20 in Suffolk and still no results (drive through). My child did one at 8am on Christmas Eve which we are also still waiting for.

We did PCRs at a walk in lunchtime Christmas Day and were told 3-5 days. I'm hoping they're being overly pessimistic to manage expectations... No results yet, previously the longest I've waited is around 28 hours

Well we had a fun family PCR trip yesterday at 12pm, nice christmas day outing following positive lateral flow test. They said results within two days, we had our results back by 9am this morning. Thought that was pretty impressive really considering how busy it must be at the moment, there was a big queue.

We've always had ours back in 30
Hours or less. Dd had one last Tuesday and was back in 29 hours. I had one at ten yesterday and still waiting. They said 1-3 day wait to me yesterday. They normally say 24-48 hours.

I had on Monday, took 34 hours for result (negative)
had another one yesterday and got result this morning in 21 hours (positive)

We did one on Christmas Eve at 6pm. They said results are usually 3 days but because of Christmas could be up to 5.
Got the results at 12:15 lunchtime today. NW area

We are in Merseyside so fingers crossed for 48hr turn around which will allow us to travel for family get together. Hoping everyone gets their results quickly....and negatives!

My daughter took one on Tuesday afternoon at home (21/12) and we posted it in a priority post box the same day. We still have not received the results. I have rang 119 three times but all they'll say is they are investigating but that can take up to three days to do. She has isolated all the time since so very frustrating not to have had result!

Thursday 23rd and got result the next day.
I think anyone who posted one on Christmas eve could have a wait as royal mail won't be back until Wednesday unless they are making exceptions because of postal tests and working bank hols.

I had one at a drive thru 10.30 Christmas Eve- one other car there- result (neg!) back 24 hrs later. Previous one was 18 hrs, same place.

DS, Leeds, postal test Thursday, back today, positive. So about 72 hrs

32 hours here, one positive one negative. This is when being a single parent really sucks, DD is stuck in with me despite testing negative 🙁

Did ours 23rd still waiting, called 119 yesterday to be told to allow another 48hrs before they’ll chase. My friend used the same test centre a day later and has already had results back!

Took my test 10am yesterday at a drive through centre. Negative result emailed at 00.05 and then texted at 6.15 am. 14h between test and email.
Still too sick with my cold to go work today though.

Still waiting after posting on Xmas eve. I’m tempted to go for a drive through as I’m now symptomatic but I’ll probably wait as the original might have picked it up.

35 hours (London - tested on Boxing Day AM).
Normally it is about 24 hours. Week before Christmas was 30 hours.
