Partner has tested positive on a lateral flow today, all plans out the window. No Xmas food in and my god I am bored already! On a good note kids are happy playing with their toys.

My adult DS tested positive this morning, they were staying at home today so had food in but we were going over to see him them on Monday. He was also planning on seeing my father who is on end of life care in a nursing home.

Pickledlipstick · 25/12/2021 17:21

My partner tested positive this morning 😞😞

SarahinCornwall · 25/12/2021 17:51

My 13 year old tested positive at midday….when I was preparing lunch for 12 for 2pm ..all plans cancelled, food shipped out and pcr results pending ….

dontcallmelen · 25/12/2021 18:14

Ds tested positive Monday, so complete change of plans I tested positive this morning it’s been a logistical nightmare getting presents food to where they now need to be, plus no PCR tests available in my area either by post or in person it’s a bit pants.

Changemaname1 · 25/12/2021 19:07

Tested positive last night , been ill for a couple of days but still enjoyed today , luckily parents delivered our Christmas dinner Grin
popped for a drive through pcr after opening presents , a strange Christmas Day indeed !

Sinner10 · 25/12/2021 19:28

We was lucky, we got Xmas dinner delivered. Kids are displaying symptoms now though. It's been a long day but lovely to see them happy with new toys and watching Xmas films. I hope you've all had a good regardless.

why are people testing xmas day!!!?

Anawi · 25/12/2021 19:46

Sucks doesnt it. My kids woke up this morning, opened stockings.eldest a bit croaky but feeling fine. Did lateral flow tests before visiting family and eldest daughters was positive within a few seconds Sad oh well, we had a quick big cry all round, a family trip to get PCR tests, then made the best of it at home. Luckily we had stuff in to do a christmas dinner tomorrow so just brought that forward. Still a nice day but sad we didnt get to together with our family, especially after last year. Stupid blooming covid

Incidentally the test centre was really busy! I've been a fair few times being a teacher with 3 children, by far the busiest I've seen it. Lots of last minute spoiled Christmas plans Sad

Anawi · 25/12/2021 19:47

Because if the lateral flow test is positive then frankly we wanted the official result as fast as possible so the isolation days end faster!

x2boys · 25/12/2021 19:53

@Watapalava

why are people testing xmas day!!!?
Because they maybe visiting vulnerable relatives ? My boys both tested positive a few days ago ,we were due to go to my parents house who are both 80 and clinically vulnerable my mum extremely so ,my boys have very few symptoms ,if they passed it on to my Mum I really think it might kill her ,it's not a chance I'm willing to take .
Changemaname1 · 25/12/2021 20:18

Because they are visiting people ?

Or like me they felt ill?

R0tational · 25/12/2021 20:27

My partner said it was a busy queue today.

Glad you still managed to have a good day. We missed it with family last year and was looking forward to it this year.

@Londonwriter

Same here. DH tested positive on a LFT this morning. He got a PCR test appointment shortly afterwards and we’re waiting for the result.

Fortunately, our Xmas was already ruined as my DM (understandably and fortunately, as it turns out) didn’t want to come down to London on a crowded train.

We had all been isolating since Wednesday last week, WFH and only popping out to walk the dog/go for a jog. So, I have no idea where DH got it from - he thinks from a delivery driver breathing on him.

I wonder if he’s had it for longer than he thought. Or you’ve had it and passed it onto him. That seems more likely. Don’t know if it makes you feel any bette though!
shakinsti · 25/12/2021 20:42

We had to take DD for a PCR yesterday morning and she had a cough and temperature Thursday night. We're still waiting for her results. We were meant to be eating with family so we were all hoping her results would be back on time to make it to lunch (and negative of course) but no such luck. She's completely fine today- although I know that doesn't mean she doesn't have covid. So frustrating and just really sad!

Same here. I tested positive on lateral flow this morning prior to visit to friends partner negative. No symptoms . Went for pcr lunchtime. The site was pretty steady with people coming in. Friends have been absolute stars and brought us lunch and tea bless them

Dd was tested as work like they do weekly. The results came through at 9am this morning and we were told to get PCRs.
Watapalava · 25/12/2021 21:37

All of you are isolating with minimal or no symptoms

I understand is visiting vulnerable relatives (tho they are likely triple vax), but otherwise I honestly think people are being mugs

Nothing wrong with you all and no one would miss xmas day for cold or cough normally

My partner has quiet a few symptoms and he didn't want to visit elderly vulnerable parents unwell. He also wouldn't of gone with a bad cold because it takes older people much longer to shake it off. Not sure what's being a mug about that.

My best friend and ex husband both have long covid. One of them cannot eat a meal easily because so short of breath. The other can no longer walk very far.

Fit and young....

Christmas day with my CEV daughter and father and yes we all LFT

No, test and protect in Scotland sent me a text telling me to isolate until the 3rd of January. It's the rules in Scotland and I would always isolate as per PCR guidelines.

@Watapalava

why are people testing xmas day!!!?
We a tested this morning before driving the 1.5 hours to my sister's house for lunch, as did my sister and BIL.

Since our 8a5 year old aunt was also going to be there we all wanted to have a negative test before meeting up. We knew it wasn't a guarantee of being Covid free but it cut the chances at least. Every little bit helps

We were all negative but would have changed plans if anyone tested positive.

HolaWeenie · 25/12/2021 22:40

9yo DS tested positive on LF this morning. No symptoms, we tested because we are seeing a lot of family over the next two days. Managed to get a walk in PCR appointment, awaiting results now, but fear Boxing Day will be just the four of us just like today. Sympathy to everyone in the same boat!
