The trouble with these kind of straw polls though on an anonymous forum means that you have no idea whether people are telling the truth. ICNAR Reports don't lie and they suggest as said previously that the unvaccinated 10% take up 48% ICU beds.

Yep, I had it last month. No respiratory symptoms, just felt shivery and tired for 3 days - bit like a cold. Recovered 100% by the following week.

I am mid 40s, no underlying health conditions, not overweight (for context)

A friend who was unvaccinated because she thought her healthy lifestyle would be enough, she's a yoga teacher, slim, fit and mid 40s. Spent 4 weeks in hospital and still has some lingering effects 4 months later. She is now vaccinated though.

OP is not after statistics. They asked a simple question. Why do some people want to shut down conversations about how folk who are not vaccinated only had Covid mild? It is like you want them to suffer, and just see horror stories. Same with vaccine side effects. People want to shut down discussions about that too.

To answer your question OP, a friend in early 40s, obese and asthmatic symptoms of mild headache, slight light headedness and fatigue. Only lasted a few days.
A couple in early 40s, no underlying conditions... mild cold symptoms. No lasting effects.

I had delta 3 weeks ago. Unvaccinated in my 40s and healthy weight etc.
Was mildly unwell for a couple of days. Tickly cough. Lost taste and smell for a week but was back to normal within a few days,

My children had Delta in the summer before their vaccinations (so unvaxxed at that point)- one had a mild cold, fine after three days, very bored by isolation, the other one was sicker, more like a flu type experience and took the whole 10 days to recover. That child also has had fatigue/exhaustion for several months afterwards, although getting much better recently.

I also have friends who got it very early on before vaccines, my friend aged around 50 was ok after a week, her son similar, but she also said that both have experienced exhaustion/tiredness for the year since, her son couldn't attend school for several weeks afterwards.

I don't think there is one answer to the experience, as it depends if you got one of the first strains, which seem to produce more Long Covid, or one of the later ones.

My children are only vaccinated now as they want to go on holiday and have freedom to travel, they wouldn't get vaccinated after their experience to prevent covid as neither found it that bad, although a recent study suggests that having covid naturally then having one vaccine gives a superboost effect, so they have got that without planning really.

None of my family were vaccinated when we caught it pre vaccine roll out last year.

Adult 1 - under 50, overweight, no other comorbidities, hospitalised on oxygen with pneumonia blood clots on lung, heart problems from Covid. Now has long Covid, improving, but still unable to do everything that they could pre Covid due to heart problems.

Adult 2 - under 45, no health conditions, very unwell at home, now has Long Covid, unable to work currently.

Adult 3 - under 40, slightly unwell, fine within a week.

Adult 4 - over 70, slightly unwell, was fine within a week.

3 children under 12, slight sniffles, sneezing, loss of smell or taste, one with mild fever and slight cough. Fine within days.

It is a roll of the dice as to whether you will get really unwell or not. Why would you want to play this horrible game of Russian roulette?

Northsoutheastwest76 · 24/12/2021 14:31

@XenoBitch tbh the anecdotal evidence can work both ways those but automatically you jumped to one conclusion.
A pro vaxxer could tell horror stories of people who refused the vaccine dying which aren't entirely true or vice versa people can say an unvaccinated person had no symptoms when they were in hospital.
Not attempting to shut it down BTW but I just wanted to share some appropriate data but clearly I should stick to the data thread .
