Asking for a friend.....

But I'm not spreading the virus - I haven't had it. People I work with who have been vaccinated have been spreading it. I'm not a burden on the NHS I haven't been to the doctor for over a decade. Those most likely to spread covid and be a drain on the NHS are the elderly and obese people. Check out studies on super spreaders. Should we lock them up? Those most likely to bring variants into the country are those who travel abroad. I haven't been abroad in over 15 years. I notice that most covid zealots I know raced away on holiday this summer.

My cousins son has it only young, not vaccinated feeling really really rough. X

Sunnysideup24 · 24/12/2021 07:24

Caught it from DD, felt fine for the 1st week, then felt like mild flu for a week. High temp for 2 days and lost sense of smell. After 2nd week felt fine. DH who is vaxed felt worse but he has an underlying condition. DC ranged from mild cold to no symptoms.

ParadiseLaundry · 24/12/2021 07:27

I had the delta variant presumably. I was unvaccinated. I caught it off double vaxxed DH. I had headaches, nausea, a nasty viral rash one day and loss of T&S. there was only one day towards the end when I felt pretty grim but I think that was mostly the lack of eating. I managed to do quite a lot of DIY so definitely not bedridden. DH was similar to me, but says he thinks he was probably worse (naturally Grin). I also knew a lot of other vaccinated people who were also ill with it at the same time and one other unvaccinated person and there didn't seem to be a significant difference in the severity of the illness.

I felt completely better two weeks afterwards. Statistically speaking, being unvaccinated might make you more poorly than being vaccinated but most people vaxxed or not will still be fine.

Mybalconyiscracking · 24/12/2021 07:27

You can keep your “I’m thrice vaccinated and my leg still fell off when I caught COVID” nonsense too.
This is all a numbers game now, it’s about protecting the whole population. Most people’s odds of being seriously ill with COVID have always been vanishingly small, but millions of tiny risks add up to a big problem. Everyone has to do their best to minimise their own risk for the good of society and to protect the NHS, for everybody.

Northsoutheastwest76 · 24/12/2021 07:29

Well OP about 10% of the population over 12 are unvaccinated yet they take up 48% of ICU beds.

Hotcuppatea · 24/12/2021 07:30

I had Covid before I was vaxxed. Zero symptoms.

@Lessofallthisunpleasantness

Mmmm thanks. It's interesting isn't it. I feel the unvaccinated have are being very much vilified for their choice yet lots of people do make different choices that we disagree with daily but this has become so contentious! I also cannot truly work out whether they are really coming off worse or not. I have only one really strongly antivax person I know and I don't know if they have had covid. They wouldn't take a test anyway so they wouldn't know if they did anyway.
Luckily then, it's been worked out for you! By the scientists and statisticians. That's good news huh?

In case you've missed it - yes, the unvaccinated are 'really coming off worse'.

WhatdramathisChristmas · 24/12/2021 07:46

My cousin and her husband recently had it. They were Covid disbelievers. Joined demonstrations in the States, anti masks, anti vaccine, Covid doesn't exist etc. She had never been so ill in her life and her husband nearly died. Now she says that as they have natural antibodies, there's no need for vaccination.

This thread is pointless. It will be full of unvaccinated people telling you how mild it was for them, and staunch vaccine supporters offering tales of young friends with no underlying health conditions dying in their droves.

Wrongaddress · 24/12/2021 07:50

You do see that calling people morons and talking about how you dont care if they drop down dead- wont actually help your message get through to the people you're aiming it at?

You do see that dont you?

👏👏 @Porfre 😁

Thievesoil · 24/12/2021 08:03

All unvacced and recently had it. No idea what variant.

It was a headache and runny nose for the DC for two days. I was strangely assymptomatic - slight headache - but I might have had it early 2020

So a non event. But we make sure we have optimal levels of vitamin D

Thievesoil · 24/12/2021 08:05

To be honest the health message should be eating an unprocessed diet, maintaining a healthy weight, optimising key nutrients Luke vitamin D and boosting the vulnerable

Yet one mention of vitamin D and you are all of a sudden a flat earther. Bizarre

Totally agree, people need to stop and get a fucking grip.

You do know you can keep your vitamin d levels good AND be vaccinated don't you? In fact this is literally what the NHS recommends.
Thievesoil · 24/12/2021 08:30

Yes of course held if you want that. But every three months? For most healthy people it’s neither sustainable nor appropriate. Public health is more than covid vaccines. Why are we ignoring the elephant on the room which is the risk factors for severe covid?

polkadotpixie · 24/12/2021 08:40

DH & I had it in October at the height of Delta so presumably that. I was triple jabbed (done early as I'm NHS, not CEV) and DH is unvaccinated

He was more unwell than me but not significantly so...his cough was worse and he had a high fever whereas I did not have one. We both had a headache for a couple of days and lost our sense of smell. He was able to look after DS3 whilst I WFH, didn't need to be in bed or anything

We're both mid 30s with no underlying conditions, although I'm slightly overweight. He is very fit and healthy (physical job and runs half marathons) so I imagine that helped him

He still has no intention of getting vaccinated, especially as he came through it fine last time. I will continue to take boosters as required

Lessofallthisunpleasantness · 24/12/2021 09:08

Thank you all for your replies! Apart from the calling people morons one!

I do think straw polls like this are still interesting. Thanks all!

Had it March 2020 and was a cross between a hangover and a cold. Only knew I had it from losing smell and taste for a few days and a later antibody test. Early 30’s, fit and healthy.

Arabelladrinkstea · 24/12/2021 09:43

I think I’ve had it as I lost taste and smell, virus / mild flu like symptoms for about a week, only 2/3 days in bed.
Son has also had it, maybe a few days longer being ill and has long term covid which we are treated with holistic protocol.
